  1. Happy to hear how well your young ones are doing. It is amazing how much this disease impacts. News like yours about how your life and theirs has improved really brightens the day and gives hope to those still struggling with the diagnosis. I am glad we here were able to help. Thanks for posting.
  2. Although I am not familiar with the product I would say yes. You need to avoid any wheat, rye, barley and oat products.
  3. Post number 13 has a link to his practice and a link so you can purchase his book.
  4. I experience this also after being glutened and it lasts about 3 days. If I am glutened bad enough I will even pass just blood after the D has cleared my system. I didn't have blood in my stool while I was eating gluten daily so it really scared me when it showed up in my second challenge for the endo and in subsequent glutenings. Scopes have shown no serious...
  5. Talk to your Mom and get her to put those bottles away. However it is your choice to pour yourself a glass from them. You are strong enough not to do it. If you feel this is a real problem for you do contact Alateen. You also might want to talk to your doctor or if you go to a church talk to your pastor or priest. You do not want to become an alcoholic at...
  6. Not meaning to sound like a 'MOM' but you should have gone to the ER the night it happened. I just kind of assumed you had. As serious as this injury was you could have fractured a bone in your face or gotten a concussion. If it happens again do please be seen by a doctor.
  7. I usually say 'I have Celiac'.
  8. Actually you should wake your husband up when you are sick at night. A little extra bouncing on the bed, a few large groans, an elbow in the ribs etc. I'm only half kidding on that. Being awakened by cramps and D is a classic celiac symptom and also make sure your doctor know that is happening as it is NOT a symptom of IBS. The previous poster had a good...
  9. My neuro symptoms hit within a couple of hours at most and last for a couple of weeks. My GI issues (other than stomach growling which hits within an hour) don't appear until 3 days later.
  10. If you are done with testing you don't need to wait on the results to start a trial of the diet. I hope you are feeling better soon.
  11. I think the 'false negatives' not being uncommon is what was meant to be written.
  12. It is up to you whether you want to have the biopsy done or not. You may even want to talk to the doctor that did the blood test and explain the insurance situation and tell him you are going to get on the diet. Some doctors will diagnose based on the combo of positive blood work and resolution of symptoms gluten free. The biopsy also has a chance of a false...
  13. Some doctors would label me 'only' gluten intolerant because I don't show up in the blood work they did. If you read my signature you can see what being 'only' gluten intolerant can do to someone. I am glad you feel you have a good doctor that you can trust and who has told you to be strictly gluten free no matter what label you go under.
  14. I guess you don't want to hear it's 70 today here in upstate NY. Of course it was 40 last week. We got lucky this year. Way to many snowsuit halloweens here also over the years. You could always go as a 'ski bunny' in your snowsuit with cardboard 'bunny ears' taped to you earwarmers.
  15. Actually the 1% could very well cause your issues. Gluten causes antibody reactions and even small amounts will trigger them. You may find if you eliminate that 1% that your D resolves.
  16. I also would like to see which tests were done and the results. I don't understand how the doctor can tell you that they were postive for GI but negative for celiac. There are a lot of false negatives in blood testing so if those were negative it doesn't mean you are not celiac. In the end it doesn't matter which label you use for yourself as both conditions...
  17. Great news thanks for giving us the update.
  18. If your done with celiac testing do give the diet a good strict try. It won't hurt and it may help a great deal. As you know testing for celiac isn't as accurate as we would like. If you post the actual results from the biopsy that might be helpful. There are times when there are changes that can be seen before the villi are destroyed that some GI doctors...
  19. It sure is. I didn't even get any weird looks at the dinner the night before when all I ate was the salad. I hadn't even ordered one as I assumed it would have croutons but when I saw it didn't I was going to order but ended up with 2 nonsalad eating folks donating theirs. I was afraid I would be selfconsious about not eating but that didn't turn out to be...
  20. In addition to the advice you have already gotten be aware that for some of us having a baby can be a trigger for an increase in symptoms. I also would wait until a month or two after she delivers. Infertility can also be an issue for us so her troubles with that could well be linked to celiac. If she is having any symptoms before pregancy and delivery they...
  21. You have only been on the diet for a week and yes it does take some time for the antibodies to leave the system. In addition the diet and lifestyle does have a bit of a learning curve. There are also some issues we get when we get our period that can be similiar to gluten symptoms, like bloating for example. If you are taking any meds or supplements do make...
  22. I made it back from the wedding and was able to do the trip and only end up exhausted but not glutened. It was a wonderful event and nicely done and I took my own advice and some hints from others and basically brought my kitchen with me. Although the facility said they could make me a gluten free dinner at the reception I realized that the turkey was the...
  23. I found out the hard way that I get the same effect from wheat and barley grass as I would if I ate a couple slices of wheat bread. I avoid them. There are a lot of good supplements without those ingredients to choose from.
  24. Your B12 is really pretty low. You may want to take some sublingual B12 for a while. Make sure it is gluten free and be sure it is sublingual. You may also want to consider supplementing D3 as you are on the low side for that also. Your TTG is still pretty high. What are you eating and drinking? Are you being careful to avoid CC? Have you checked all scripts...
  25. It could be ataxia. The advice on B12 is good. If your doctor will not do injections get the sublingual form. It disolves under the tongue and is absorbed there bypassing the damaged gut. As mentioned B12 taken in a pill you swallow is useless until you heal. If it is gluten ataxia then you should improve once you are on the diet. Since you haven't had your...
