  1. I have been gluten free for almost 8 years now. My neuro symptoms hit within a few hours and my tummy starts to grumble within a few minutes. My depression hits in about 24 hours and is overwhelming but lifts in a day. Stomach pain begins within 24 hours and I ususally get D 3 days later. Brain fog, hair loss, fatigue and joint and muscle pain can last for...
  2. I find it interesting also that research shows a lot of RA patients have been labeled with 'IBS'. Makes me wonder how many may actually be celiac but noone has bothered to check for it.
  3. I am thankful for you that this was caught early on. For years my issues were thought to be hormone related because they were at their worst during and before my period. Then eventually they got worse and were a daily nightmare. I am glad you can get on the diet and prevent the illness that destroyed so many of us before we finally got diagnosed. Every one...
  4. I only tried one product and threw most of the package out. Not only did I fail to notice the soy in them, stupid of me, I found them not all that appealing. Try Grainless Baker of Kinninickinnick if you have them locally.
  5. Another thing to mention to hubby. Before my diagnosis I was taking a handful of pills every single day. Most of the things I was being medicated for resolved on the diet. I now only need one med instead of 7 and the destruction of my body was stopped cold once I was gluten free. If he really dislikes his ill health and all the meds the diagnosis and diet...
  6. While it is overwhelming you should also be thankful that this was caught to so early. I would give anything to have had my children, especially my son diagnosed when he was little. It would have made such a difference in their lives. We are here to help in any way we can. It might be a good idea to make your whole house gluten free since celiac is strongly...
  7. If it is made in the same place that makes stuff with gluten it may have an issue with CC.
  8. It looks to me like those are positive tests. After you are done testing I would get your little one on the diet. It wouldn't hurt to put the other child on the diet also if there is reason to suspect issues.
  9. I'm fine with Pepsi but can't do Coke.
  10. For the best chance at an accurate result you really should be back on a full gluten diet for a couple of months. However you may find a few days into your challenge that you are so very sick that continuing would be a horrid experience. If you react to the challenge that really is a very valid form of diagnosis IMHO.
  11. You mention working out. I admire you continueing with that despite the pain. Are you seeing a physical therapist? If not you may want to ask your doctor for a script for a few sessions. Mine was very helpful in showing me certain excercises to strengthen areas that needed it without any pain and he also realized in the exam that one of my hips was out of...
  12. Most of us can get away with distilled gluten. I am one of the few who can't. You may be one also. Maybe you might want to have a tequila sunrise or potato vodka and lemonade instead. Your doc was right about the bridge driving you bonkers if they do one to soon. I had a temp done since I lost my front teeth and by the time I had healed enough for the...
  13. My opinion, save your money. I really don't like that they are telling folks to take this in multiple doses on a daily basis.
  14. I am sure that post will be helpful to many. The one thing I want to add is that your doctor is not going to know if a med is gluten free. A good pharmacist will check, it really is their job to but some can't be bothered. One of the best ways to know if a med is safe is to call the company that makes it.
  15. First off ((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))) You have been through so much. Yes do try the diet for the whole family and be strict about it. I think you will find the whole family will benefit. Ask any questions you need to here and welcome.
  16. You doctor sounds like a real 'winner' and I wouldn't put to much value in what she is saying. Chances are once you are on the diet you won't need to see her much anyway. As for the dizziness and the trouble breathing don't be surprised if the catscan doesn't show anything. Celiac disease can cause inflammation in the entire body. Thus it can cause asthma...
  17. While I also had significant issues with my hands I also had pain in the areas you describe. One of the most surprising things to me after I was diagnosed was that the arthritis went into remission within a couple of months. In my case the rhuematologist was useless, not saying one would be for you though. My pain was so bad in my hips and back that walking...
  18. Connie good luck tommorrow. Are they going to give you a temporary partial the same day? I think that made it easier for me although I had to go back the next day to have them take it out the first time and to check the stitches. I don't know if you are a smoker but if you are make sure you don't smoke or suck on a straw etc for the first couple of days....
  19. As a sero-negative celiac boy can I second that! If only doctors had thought to have me just do a dietary trial, since I was a classic celiac symptom wise, it would have made an incredible difference in my life and that of my children. It has serious effects on kids when they are watching their mother die a little more every day.
  20. Drop the chicken and sardines and see what happens.
  21. I am sorry you are feeling so bad right now. It is a good sign that your stomach issues are easing up but it does take a bit of time to heal. Have you had a blood test done for celiac? You can call your doctor and see if they will call in a script for one today before you have been gluten free any longer. If you are going to have an endoscopy for diagnosis...
  22. I agree completely. If folks reacted to stuff just because they don't eat it elimination diets and challenges would be worthless as folks would react to everything they added back in.
  23. Trying to de-bat her house. First off those tests were done 2 years ago. I would have the doctor rerun the tests if you continued to eat gluten because of the results. You can't go off just the gene tests to rule celiac in or out. They are not diagnostic in themselves and gene testing is a relatively new science. I would get the blood tests run...
  24. "Hi, I went gluten free five years ago after two decades of gastro issues, chronic infections, etc. I had a biospy done after going gluten-free and the results were negative. I've also had enterolab run my genes and those showed gluten sensitivity genes but not Celiac, so I've adhered to my gluten-free diet knowing I can't eat it whether or not I have Celiac...
  25. I would contact her doctor and stress how seriously ill she is and see if the endo can possibly be moved up. They may be able to put her on a cancelation list so if someone else cancels at the last minute she will be able to slide into their spot. The fact that she is not able to keep anything in her system may cause a false negative with the testing anyway...
