  1. Did the doctor check your ears? Fluid build up in the ears can make your dizzy.
  2. At this point I would only use the Snyder's pretzels if you can call them and confirm that they are made in a dedicated plant. If they are making them in the same place they are making the regular pretzels IMHO the risk of CC is very high. Glutino pretzels are good if she can tolerate soy. If in doubt about that Wylde pretzels are soy and gluten free.
  3. It doesn't look like a complete panel was done. Keep in mind your test results are your business only. If the diet is working stick with it and consider yourself diagnosed. What convinced my family to test was my astounding recovery on the diet. I encouraged them to get tested and thankfully they did about 6 months after I was diagnosed.
  4. Nope your not alone. Both my kids have it also and also my exhusband, who is only the natural father of one of them. Luckily it was caught early in them so they should heal fast. It may even be easier with both of them having it since you won't have one teasing the other with gluten food as in 'nah, nah you can't havve thissss and it's sooooo gooood' ...
  5. The important thing is your doing it now. I am glad you are having a good response. We do sometimes have ups and downs at first but we are all here to help in any way we can.
  6. Yea I had this happen to me too and as you have seen from the other responses it is not unusual. I have had a couple times when they would send me straight in for an ultrasound after making me sit until the mammo was read. Try not to worry about it.
  7. If the kids that have low IGA and IGG are continueing to have issues with D and other possible celiac related issues I would strongly advise going ahead and giving the diet a good strict try. Those low values could very well cause a false negative in testing for celiac, IMHO, and the diet won't hurt them. It may not help all their issues but if it relieves...
  8. This is going to sound like a strange thing to ask but here goes...Do you wear thermals or 'long johns' I get mine out as soon as the weather cools and they stay until it gets really warm. The fact that the lesions are at your waist makes me wonder if you are wearing something that has a form of 'elastic' band that might be causeing the reaction. The waist...
  9. That loin of beef sounds like a much better choice than rice cakes. Add in a couple baked potatos or a big bowl of rice and some veggies too.
  10. Why are you waiting 7 days? Going dairy free isn't going to effect testing for celiac and if you start to feel better you will know your doing the right thing. Also have you eliminated gluten from all your cosmetics, shampoos, lotions etc? Do you do arts and crafts or are you doing any remodeling in your home? Things like playdough, glues, paints, drywall...
  11. You could be either celiac or gluten intolerant. Hang in there, your body will eventually give you the answer. Hopefully your stomach issues are improving but it can take a bit to heal. It is a good idea to limit your dairy intake at first and do try to go with as much unprocessed food as you can. I know it is hard to be patient but it does sound like you...
  12. It is wise to be nervous. Do tell the waitress that you are gluten free so they will take the precautions they need to. Then have a great time and enjoy your meal and your freinds.
  13. Yea you do have a lot to cover. She needs to make her health more important than being 'nice and polite'. I hope she doesn't get to awful sick. You may want to have her visit us here also. Sometimes hearing things from others goes over better than hearing stuff from Mom. I know with my own young adults I don't know anything.
  14. I am one of the rare celiacs that reacts to distilled gluten grains. I get for sure gluten free vanilla, and it is be labeled that way, in my local health food store. I have both the powdered and one without alcohol. I use Frontier Fair Trade made without alcohol and Authentic Foods Powdered, both are labeled gluten-free. You can also make vanilla sugar...
  15. Looks like it depends on the Miso, I would call the company you plan on getting it from and ask what it is made from. "The ingredients used to produce miso may include any mix of soybeans, barley, rice, buckwheat, millet, rye, wheat, hemp seed, and cycad, among others. Lately, producers in other countries have also begun selling miso made from chickpeas...
  16. Thanks for letting us know. I hope she heals quick and isn't too uncomfortable.
  17. It is usually advised to limit dairy when first diagnosed or avoid it completely. The same area damaged by celiac is the area that produces the enzyme we need to digest dairy and many can go back to eating dairy after we heal. Having cramping after consuming dairy is not unusual at all, especially in the beginning.
  18. Bring hard copies of the bloodwork with you or if possible copies of the whole medical history. They may or may not want to redo the tests. They may diagnose based on the positive blood work but most want to biopsy. If you are going to do more testing make sure that you keep eating gluten until the testing is complete.
  19. I don't know if what happened with me is something that would happen with all but I am a double DQ9 and yes the effects of having a double dose of that gene were horrific.
  20. Yes even trace amounts get me. I am also sensitive to distilled gluten grains in vinegar and alcohol which most of us can handle just fine.
  21. Just remember that false negatives are not uncommon and do make sure you don't go gluten free until all the testing you plan to have done is finished. Once the testing is done you don't need to wait for the results to start a trial of the diet since a trial is strongly advised even with negative results.
  22. 3 weeks of gluten will likely not be long enough if you have been gluten free for any length of time. Do keep in mind that reacting to the challenge is diagnostic in itself. A few doctors will take this into consideration. Some folks also prefer not to have a formal diagnosis because it can impact people insurance wise.
  23. I don't react to Sprite either. If I have no choice but to get a Coke product that is the one I go to.
  24. Why are you so sure it is not DH? It sure does sound like it. Have you checked all your topicals for gluten ingredients? Just in case it is DH do you consume iodine in salt or supplements? Also distilled gluten grains in alcohol or vinegar will flare my DH although most can tolerate it. If it is for sure not DH do you use sunblock? In my case there is not...
