ARCHIVED Please Help Interpret Resultsravenwoodglass replied to itsallgood's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Your frustration is certainly understandable. Doctors really need to get up on celiac in this country so many are so uneducated. Fortunately we can do the only thing that can be done, the diet, without doctors help. It is nice to get a clear cut diagnosis but sometimes that is just beyond today's medicine. The body knows the answer though. I think your...

ARCHIVED Please Help Interpret Resultsravenwoodglass replied to itsallgood's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Your test results were postive for celiac. You don't have a total IGA listed so I don't know if you are IGA defiecient but with the other test being postive that doesn't really matter. If you are not going to have an endo than go ahead and go gluten free asap. If you're having the endo then wait till that is done before starting the diet.

ARCHIVED Just Hand Endoscopyravenwoodglass replied to jasonD2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Gosh I sure do hope so, and I hope it was for at least 3 months. Jason it is normal to be bloated and have some gas. They blow you up to get a clearer view. As said it will 'pass'.

ARCHIVED Tis The Season To Be Thankful!ravenwoodglass replied to amybeth's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff I am thankful that I am, for the most part, healthier than I have been in years. I am thankful that my DD was able to come home for Christmas and bring her wonderful fiance and that we had a nice though early celebration with them and my son. I am especially thankful for my now ex-husbands brother who has stood beside me during a nasty divorce and continues...

ARCHIVED How Long To Be On Gluten Before The Tests?ravenwoodglass replied to trixiesirisheyes's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms I think your IGA deficiency may impact the blood tests even on a full gluten diet. Be sure to talk to your doctor about that. Also note your reactions to adding gluten back into your diet and share them with your GP. If your feeling better gluten free and get sick when you add gluten back in with celiac in your family that is pretty diagnostic also. In...

ARCHIVED Glutino Dream Cookies Vanilla Creme And Chocolateravenwoodglass replied to pgrovetom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Glutino is a dedicated facilty gluten wise. However I thought for a while that I was getting glutened but it turned out I have reactions to soy. My guess would be you also have an additional intolerance.

ARCHIVED Test Results/symptoms?ravenwoodglass replied to Carin3's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Correct. You are one of us. You don't really need to test furthur, IMHO. There are some doctors who think the gluten free diet is a fate worse than death, so to speak, and don't want to diagnose until the villi are completely destroyed. Some will go so far as to say to keep eating gluten and then come back in a year and see if the damage has gotten more...

ARCHIVED My Dh Is Not Disappearing...ravenwoodglass replied to Woolygimp's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis Are you using iodized salt or taking a supplement with iodine? If you are stop using them for a bit. Iodine can keep the reaction active even if your not consuming gluten. You can add it back in after you have healed completely and the antibodies have left the skin.

ARCHIVED Lay's Kettle Chips (mesquite Bbq) And St. Ives Apricot Scrubravenwoodglass replied to mhalpin12's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Many of us avoid the flavored Lay's products because of the high risk of CC. For me eating Lay's is like playing roulette, one time I will be fine another I will be sick as a dog so I have learned to avoid them. The facial scrub looks safe and I used to use it with no issues.

ARCHIVED Will New Nonstick Pan Become Contaminated?ravenwoodglass replied to jackay's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease As long as you don't cook gluten foods in it it will be fine.

ARCHIVED Diagnosis Without Biopsy?ravenwoodglass replied to ejb3939's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms If your regular doctor has seen you repeatedly for the issues that celiac caused there is a chance, not a huge one but a chance that when you go back a glowingly healthy person who had all issues resolve that your doctor may diagnose. Make an appointment with him/her and have a talk. Explain why you need the diagnosis and the results of what occurs when...

ARCHIVED Microscopic Colitis?ravenwoodglass replied to LisaaaNoel's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Whether this is a symptom of MC I don't know but I do know that for me it was a symptom of celiac. I was diagnosed with IBS years ago and it wasn't until after I was diagnosed celiac and remarked to my GI that I was so thankful to be done with the middle of the night D that he told me that IBS doesn't wake someone up from sleep. Unfortunately he never listened...

ARCHIVED Need Gum/mints W/o Gluten, Xylitol & Apsrtameravenwoodglass replied to jasonD2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications You might want to look into Biotene products. You should be able to find them in a drug store. They are supposed to help with dry mouth. My dentist gave me a sampler with mouthwash, toothpaste and a gel that you can use. I don't know all the ingredients but I do know it is gluten free.

ARCHIVED Best Digestive Enzymes?ravenwoodglass replied to CGally81's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Do you know what genes you do have? I would have been told I don't have celiac either if I had been gene tested before I was firmly diagnosed. There have recently been 7 other celiac related genes (most recognized as such in countries other than the US) that are now being acknowledged as celiac related here in the US. We can not go off gene testing for...

ARCHIVED I Swear I Have Celiac Disease...but....ravenwoodglass replied to ktnhsv's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms I would stay on the diet for at least a month and eat only whole unprocessed foods during this time. Make sure you are also staying away from dairy during this time.

ARCHIVED The Supplements I Was Talking Before Getting Sickravenwoodglass replied to Nadia2009's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications They may not contain the protein but many of us react to them. If you are diagnosed or gluten free you may find the wheat grass makes you ill. That should be the first thing you drop if you notice an increase in symptoms. If you do a board seach using wheat grass as the term there are many posts and some may have links to info on it. It is not something...

ARCHIVED Good Protein Sources?ravenwoodglass replied to CGally81's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease To much of anything isn't good. You need a balance for nutrition to be complete. It was good that you added carrots to your diet but you need to add more veggies of different colors to bring up the nutrient levels. Your body is craving nutrients from food not calories. Make sure your meal contains at least 3 different colors. The dinner with fish, rice...

ARCHIVED Bailey's Irish Cream....gluten Free?ravenwoodglass replied to kimis's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications There are some of us who do react to distilled grains. I am one of them. The symptoms I get are definately gluten symptoms including a DH outbreak. Most will tolerate distilled grains but there are a few of us who will have problems.

ARCHIVED Bone Marrow Biopsy Fridayravenwoodglass replied to luvdogz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms I should add, since I didn't in my last reply, that I agree with the other poster about getting the bone marrow testing done. If your doctor suspects myeloma that should be ruled out. I would try the diet in addition though, after you have done all testing for celiac that you choose to do. Please let us know how things turn out.

ARCHIVED I Swear I Have Celiac Disease...but....ravenwoodglass replied to ktnhsv's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms There are folks who do suffer celiac related anxiety and have had it ease up on the diet. Hopefully it will help for you also. I know what you mean about not leaving home much, I got to the point where I was basically agoraphobic. I am slowly getting my life back though. If the diet doesn't help with the anxiety issues do try working with a therapist...

ARCHIVED Bone Marrow Biopsy Fridayravenwoodglass replied to luvdogz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms I would ask the doctor for a full celiac panel. The IGA is only a small part, and that was very postive. I had every issue you are speaking of prediagnosis and then a few more. I would insist on a full celiac panel, if one hasn't been done already. Keep in mind though that there can be false negatives with blood tests. That fact delayed my diagnosis...

ARCHIVED Best Digestive Enzymes?ravenwoodglass replied to CGally81's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease If this is being advertised as an alternative to the gluten-free CF diet I would return it and get your money back. I would not trust this drug. Your dinner sounds safe, why are you concerned with CC issues for this meal? Was it in a restaurant? If it was a homecooked meal you shouldn't need to worry about CC issues. I wonder if the daily use of enzymes...

ARCHIVED I Swear I Have Celiac Disease...but....ravenwoodglass replied to ktnhsv's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms The depression preceliac diagnosis for me was severe but came and went several times a month and doctors thought it was PMDD for most of my life. If your female it seems doctors like to blame depression on menses even when we know that isn't what it is linked to. The depression lifted when the withdrawl did, which for me was about a week to 2 weeks into...

ARCHIVED False Positive?ravenwoodglass replied to aped's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease It sounds like you are reacting to the challenge. That combined with the results from Enterolab and the fact you were feeling good on the diet should be enough 'proof' IMHO.
