  1. You should feel better in a lot sooner than that if you are really strict about the diet. You can still go clubbing without the alcohol. If you must drink then you should make sure that the doctor monitors your liver function on a regular basis. Celiac and the resultant autoimmune problems can have bad effects on the liver. In addition the liver in...
  2. I had incredible bone and joint pain and although I had some joint deformity I do not produce the RA factor so I was labeled with osteo. I should note that my celiac genes are thought to be genes for RA, that is what I would have been diagnosed with if they had gene tested and they then would have stopped looking. I thought after 10 years of progressive...
  3. Unfortunately as stated the regs for inert ingredient labeling for meds just don't exist. I think another issue is the insistance that wheat starch can be made gluten-free by processing. If drug companies believe that wheat starch can be processed to take ALL the gluten out they can still tell us legally that the pill is gluten-free. Thank you codex standards...
  4. Your history and issues do sound like you could be celiac. You should ask the doctor to do an endoscopy while he is doing the colonoscopy. Or perhaps even do the endo first and leave the coloscopy for later. The endo is the test he should do if he suspects celiac disease and there are no nasty preps to drink before it. If you do have celiac it really is...
  5. Hi Judy, I stopped coloring a while ago but I never had an issue with it. I have however had a problem with some of the Garneir products but that turned out to be more soy related. I would wash with straight water and perhaps put a pure coconut oil hot treatment on tonight. That might soothe things a bit. If you have any sort of a rash a bit of a safe...
  6. What this is saying is that if you also have symptoms suggestive of celiac sprue that would be considered to be the diagnosis. The inflammation is also suggestive of celiac as is the increase in the T cells. You should give the diet a really strict go even if the blood work is negative. It looks like you got lucky and things were caught before you got...
  7. Hang in there. Things will get better and you may have the added benefit of seeing some of the other 12 conditions go into remission. Be sure to check everything, there is no such thing as being to paranoid at first. Also especially in the early stages of being gluten free a withdrawl aspect can appear. This can lead to depression but it will pass on...
  8. NO YOU DIDN'T. I was on a full gluten diet and quite ill when I finally was able to carry my children to term. I also had a couple of miscarriages in my history and over 10 year of failure to concieve. Doctors do not know why conception issues are occuring with celiac or why we tend to miscarry. You did not kill your baby please understand that. (((...
  9. The CSA also has a great starting the diet guide, here is a link: Open Original Shared Link
  10. I agree completely with that. I should also note that I do not feel that gluten intolerance and celiac are seperate diagnoses and thus I do not differentiate between the two. I am of the opinion that gluten intolerance is simply another part of the spectrum of celiac disease.
  11. I would contact the company again. Paypal unfortunately is not going to help you if it has been 2 months since you sent the payment. If it has been under 45 days file your dispute today. From the link provided. "13.2 Filing Deadlines. We will not grant any Claim unless you first initiate a Dispute in our Resolution Center within 45 Days of the date...
  12. I was not symptom free but a family member was, or at least they thought they were till they were gluten-free. They were found because of the reccommendation that all family members be tested after one is found to have it. After being gluten-free for a bit he realized that his skin issues were gluten related and that his 'normal' brain function was really...
  13. I am surprised he didn't order those tests when he did the panel. The test is really a routine test, here is what it is for- "The CMP is a frequently ordered panel that gives your doctor important information about the current status of your kidneys, liver, and electrolyte and acid/base balance as well as of your blood sugar and blood proteins. Abnormal...
  14. Sounds like a good possibility. Do remember that AFTER you have done all the testing you desire to do that no matter what the results you should do a dietary trial of the diet to see if it helps. This should be done no matter what the test results say, there are many false negatives on testing so do give the diet a shot. Just be sure to wait until after...
  15. If you don't have celiac you can't 'trigger' it by eating wheat. Your body is only going to react if it is already forming antibodies. If you have been gluten light and your body is producing antibodies, or celiac, you may excaberate symptoms by adding in more gluten but if your body was not forming antibodies in the first place that wouldn't happen. ...
  16. The first thing you want to do before you eliminate gluten is to get a celiac panel done by your doctor. There are up to 30% of us who will show up with a false negative so if the test is negative or positive a dietary trial may be in order. I am someone who has never had another migraine gluten free and others have also seen this effect. Do you have any...
  17. Looks okay but as with any product the best way to tell is to call the company. An added benefit to this is that sometimes companies will have gluten free lists they will send, often with coupons.
  18. Are you symptomatic? In any way? If so get retested. In countries that screen their populations on a routine basis they usually test at around 4, again at puberty and then will retest when a person becomes symptomatic. If you are having issues of any kind your doctor should again run a complete panel. Then no matter what the results you should give the...
  19. The ANA is not a celiac test. It is looking for these autoimmune diseases: Systemic lupus erythematosus (lupus or SLE) Progressive systemic sclerosis (scleroderma) Rheumatoid Arthritis Sjogren's syndrome Felty's syndrome Juvenile arthritis Negative is good news with this test. Have they done a celiac panel on you?
  20. I am one of those who was thought to have MS. The fact that your symptoms are excaberating after an illness is a good sign that it is celiac related, but no guarentee. What they are saying about the B12 is right also. Many with celiac can have numbers that are falling but still not out of the 'normal' range. That does not mean the body can make any use...
  21. I hope you feel better soon. GFP is not the only one here who believes the best way to start out is as strict as is humanly possible. It is better to go through the inconvience of being so very strict and then after you have been feeling good for a bit you can add in risky stuff. That is the best way to know for sure just how sensitive you are. Hang in...
  22. Here is a link to the website where you should be able to get the info you need. Whether you qualify or not depends on whether you were laid off or left voluntarily. Your situation is a bit tricky since you did give notice and I think a lot depends on whether your old boss fights it. Hopefully the website will have more info or someone else will jump in...
  23. There is often a withdrawl period and the effects are different for a lot of folks. If you feel the discomfort is due to inflammation an anti-inflammatory might help. I usually just take asprin. If the discharge you are having is yellow or greenish, if you have a fever, if you have a nasty taste in your mouth, or if the pain escalates do see a doctor....
  24. Keep us posted on how things are going. I am glad the vertigo has calmed down a bit for you. I hope things are loud and clear on the biopsy and I would not put on a brave face when I saw this doctor again. Fill him in on every little detail, graphically. I don't think a lot of them understand what they are really putting us through. We sure do though...
  25. I think you are making a wise choice about the MRI. Do get some of the sublingual B12 also, that may help more than you think. While your B12 levels are in a range that would be considered normal that does not mean that your body is able to utilize it. It can take a long time for levels to fall off in blood testing so if you have any past levels sometimes...
