  1. How fast stuff gets broken down depends on a lot of different factors. If you had said you were clearly able to identify the contents above the peas and the capsules I would be more concerned. If this starts to happen on a regular basis you really should get back to your doctor though. I agree with him you should drop those fiber capsules. But you may...
  2. Add soy to the previous post also. I would eliminate both for a bit and then perhaps challenge after you have been feeling better for a while. I became reactive to both after a severe adverse reaction to an med and after I healed up a bit again dairy issues (casein) became less of a problem. I still avoid soy but may challenge that at a later date. I...
  3. Eating out should stress you out but it is not impossible. There are some places with gluten-free menus but it can be harder with doing CFSF also. You may want to post that as a seperate question in the restaurants or coping threads. If you recently gave up dairy and are seriously craving it then it was the right thing to do. IMHO. You could make a...
  4. Hmm what do we CFSFGF folks eat. Well I eat: All fruit, fresh or frozen as a single ingredient with no additives, all veggies, fresh and frozen, again with no additives. I eat GFSFCF granolas, my favorite is Bakery on Main with Wegmans rice milk. I drink chocolate hemp milk when I want a glass of something but it is too high in protein for my kidneys...
  5. It sure can. Mine I would compare to someone shoving a hot poker down my legs starting at my hip. It, thank goodness, was not a constant but I also had a lot of tingling, burning and numbness in my legs, feet and hands. That was a constant. I also had loss of reflexes in both legs as a child and eventually they would discover in abnormal electromylograms...
  6. You go gluten free strictly for at least a couple of months. You found the right place for info and support while you do so. Blunted villi are not normal and there are so many variables with the biopsy that false negatives are unfortunately all too common.
  7. Hope the day holds some special and fun times for you. Happy B-Day
  8. I have to add: and if you have called the paint company to see if there is gluten in it. Been there
  9. I agree totally with Ursa. In addition in folks with both celiac and diabetes it can make the diabetes easier to control when they are compliant with the diet.
  10. I can certainly sympathize, I was there myself 6 years ago. I know you are aware by now that if you go gluten-free before the endo that the test would require a reglutening for an extended period of time IF you decide at a later date to have it for diagnosis. That said not all of us require a doctors firm diagnosis to stay on the diet, when it is the answer...
  11. It is not unheard of for folks to have some kidney impact especially if they went undiagnosed for a long time. My kidney function has improved greatly but it did take a few months to heal and a good strong glutening will still effect them. I don't know how long you have been gluten-free but that is something that your doctor will most likely want to keep...
  12. I would have too. That said though it most likely (IMHO) may have been a corn or corn and quinoa pasta.
  13. Short and sweet - yes
  14. When I was first diagnosed I would start to erupt within an hour. Now they usually show up, in a very much smaller degree about 3 days after. I may be wrong but I think after the majority of the antibodies leave the skin the time from injestion to breakout becomes longer.
  15. Thanks guys for posting, I would like to add to it but I am laughing to hard to think.
  16. I use NOW Super Enzymes which contain - Betaine, Pancreatin, papain, OX bile, pepsin, bromelain, papaya and bormelain 10:1 it has no sugar, salt, starch, yeast, gluten, wheat, corn, soy, milk, egg, or preservatives.
  17. This reply addresses whether the gluten response can be started in the oral mucosa, which is a part of the digestive system. Yes I do know we are discussing digestive enzymes and whether they can prevent a gluten gut reaction in someone with celiac. For folks with celiac the gluten reaction begins as soon as we get an offending molecule into our mouths...
  18. I am going to suggest that you warm up your printer and google celiac and dental enamel defects. A great deal should come up. In other countries when a dentist sees our teeth they immediately suggest celiac, here we get lectures about taking proper care of them. Most dentist here are not cognizant of the damage that is done with celiac and even less realize...
  19. I have never heard of blunted villi being normal. Hopefully the pathologist will pick up on the diagnosis but even if he doesn't you may want to give the diet a shot. If after a couple of months gluten-free you have still not had any relief then do continue to look further. For optimum healing you shoud delete dairy for a couple of months at first also...
  20. I get these also. I have DH and now that I do not get huge oozing sores all over my face and back (after a long time gluten-free) this is the way mine show up now. A couple of little blisters (pause while I do a happy dance) that go away within a week or so.
  21. If I had the test in my hands I would go ahead and do it. It does appear though that the test is only going to tell you if you are forming antibodies but not what they are antibodies to so I don't know how helpful that is going to be. Do be sure when all is done with the testing you are going to let them do that you give the diet a good serious try for...
  22. This is just wonderful news. Thank you so much for the update.
  23. I am so glad to hear that things are going well. One last note, you mention that the derm biopsied the lesion that you have, (or had hopefully). If he biopsied the actual lesion he was clueless or not looking for DH. The DH test requires biopsy of the tissue adjacent to the lesion. That is where they will find the antibodies. If the actual lesion is...
  24. First off I take enzymes. I want to make that clear so folks don't think I am anti-enzyme in general. I also have gotten great relief from them. GI wise. However, it is important that folks remember that for many celiac is not just a GI problem. It is also important to remember that gluten crosses the mucosal barriers. That means that the gluten...
  25. It sounds like your right to me. Whether this is DH or an allergy to something else that is in it. You may want to carry a large towel or something else that you can put down on those chairs. The oldfashioned way to diagnose DH was to use iodine on an area of the skin and loosely cover it with a bandaid. If a rash occured you had a diagnosis. Because...
