  1. If you can find Enjoy Life gluten-free granola I put a serving in a bowl and top with yoplait yogurt instead of milk. This with a hard boiled egg and a glass of juice tasty and filling.
  2. Hi, I am sorry you are dealing with this and agree with the advice given by other posters. I would however like you to consider one other possibility in addition, he may himself be celiac. There are gluten intolerant folks who display symptoms that are more psychological in appearance. He also may have gut issues that he doesn't want to share with you...
  3. Hi welcome to the boards, I am glad you are adjusting well. Your rise from the ashes appears to be well on it's way to success. Your name is so appropriate for a newly diagnosed celiac that I wish I had thought of it first.
  4. Elisabeth, I am so happy to hear this!!!!! I know he had a tough time for a while.
  5. I got glutened a couple days a go. Naturally brain fog and extreme tiredness have set in with all the wonderful joint pains etc... When I got up this am I tested my fasting sugar, (which is now in the 90's most mornings) and it was 64, I've never seen it this low. I had a banana and some nuts and went to the store. When I got home I had a hard boiled...
  6. Lister I picked up a Planters nut mix and called the company. They should be gluten-free unless a forbidden ingredient is listed. Gotta run hope your day was good.
  7. Could you have gotten some gluten somewhere when this started? In addition have they done a colonoscopy on you? The reason I ask is because some of us who had severe C for a while end up with pretty extensive diverticuli that can cause the type of pain you are describing. In the non-celiac population the pain and diverticuli would be on the left side but...
  8. This company is great. It is so nice to have a pizza that tastes like pizza that I would kiss the company founder if I could find him or her Their French Bread mix makes a great pizza crust it is a bit difficult to spread but once it is we let it rise and hour and it makes a deep dish crust that is actually worth eating. I also spread out some little...
  9. You've made a good start today. I will try to check out some nationwide brands of nuts for you and get back later. I am lucky and live in a state with a Wegmans which really helps as they label all their gluten-free stuff. Do you have a Walmart SuperCenter near you? When my DS was in Wyotech's Mechanics school they were the only place he would shop as...
  10. I have never used this but want to make sure that you called the company to double check that it is gluten-free before you take it. Many doctors are clueless as to the gluten content of the OTC and prescriptions they give us. Have you added more water, fruits and veggies to your diet? Prune juice is a bit yuccky but for some it works great. In addition...
  11. 4:30am wake up get ready for work 5:45am smoke cig 6:46am eat a bannana to help pain How about putting that banana on a bowl of gluten-free cereal? Or add a slice of gluten-free toast and a hard boiled egg. 7:30am eat enjoy life cocoloco bar Instead of this try a delmonte fruit cup along with a hard boiled egg or a handfull of gluten...
  12. IMHO, doctors in this country are so far behind when it comes to the diagnosis of celiac. You know your son needs the diet. If you really feel you have to put him through the invasive procedure to 'prove' to the doctors that he is celiac then I agree you need to have the test moved up. Personally with the risk of the endo coming up a false negative and...
  13. I agree and will do so this afternoon. If only I had known to be a 'fussy' food neurotic mother when my kids were young. My son would be more than 5' tall and my DD would not have permanent scars on her body from the psychological effects of the disease and the toxic meds they push on us. This is disgraceful and can be a real set back for folks struggling...
  14. I had many of the neuro effects and this was one of them. People thought I drank, which I didn't. Most of my neurological symptoms have been relieved by the diet including the tremors.
  15. "I am still having a lot of problems sleeping. I would like to list all of my daily medications to see if it is possible that I am missing any hidden gluten. Sorry the list is so long but I have a lot of problems! Thank you in advance for all your help. You guys are great! Prevacid HCTZ Atenolol levoxyl lisinopril lipitor klonipin zoloft" Hi...
  16. As someone who was told that their UBO, unidentified bright object, or brain white matter lesions were of no significance during my diagnostic process I thought it would be a good idea to post this article. Many US doctors consider these lesions to be harmless but other research shows otherwise. I got this from www.pubmed.gov Brain white-matter lesions...
  17. I sure you will like her. I just feel sad that it takes so long for most of us.
  18. I am so sorry that you are having to go through all this. I can help with one thing though, you have a legal right to a copy of that disk. Once it is in your hands you can show it to anyone you want. After being misdiagnosed myself and half dead before celiac was found I have made it a habit to get copies of all lab work and any other tests they do and...
  19. Judy, This is a curiosity question about the MRI. They thought my gluten ataxia and nerve damage was MS so they did one of these on me. The only thing they found was what the neuro said were UBOs, Unidentified Bright Objects, they looked like spots of white light on the films. The MRI specialist said they were lesions but did not appear to be demylinating...
  20. This was an interesting link. Thanks for posting it.
  21. No you don't. Tell this guy to take a leap. You know you have a positive response to the diet and you need to stay with it. Don't let some doctor tell you to poison yourself for his satisfaction. I would also put your DD on the diet for a while, or do the Enterolab tests. I did a challenge after being gluten-free and became more sick than I had ever...
  22. Hi, welcome to the boards. In addition to removing gluten sources from the above named stuff please be sure to also check your shampoos, toiletries, soaps, lotions and makeup. I had horrible gluten ataxia, the dizziness and feeling of being off balance was awful. In my case it was about 6 months gluten-free before these went away. It can take a long time...
  23. It could be gluten. It may not be either the supplement or the oil, did you do any spackling or drywall before you painted? Did you remove wallpaper? Another possiblity is the paint itself. You would really be surprised at all the stuff gluten is in. As a safety measure, after being glutened myself doing this sort of thing I always wear a mask now when...
  24. Sometimes that can help more than anything else. Both the tears and the talking about it. ((((((hugs))))))
  25. I used to wonder why I would get a hangover even if I drank non-alcoholic beer, and one grain vodka drink would send me to never never land. Since diagnosis I drink wine and potato vodka and have never had a trace of a hangover.
