  1. If I did the diet for my blood type it would kill me. My type has wheat as a main grain.
  2. AB+ here.
  3. While I would never tell anyone to do anything illegal I do believe this research as it has been borne out in more than one study. Doctors are always astounded at my lung function considering I have smoked cigs and the other for over 40 years. When I was at my sickest smoking pot was the only thing that gave me any relief from the nausea and extreme...
  4. What you do is get her on the diet and see if it helps. You could do enterolab of course but the best way IMHO is to get her on the diet and see if her problems resolve, then you would have your answer.
  5. Hey there's an idea. Nothing wrong with a little bribery. It was a nice thing for her to do but I much preferred what our realator did when we bought my house. She gave us a pen and watercolor painting of the house done by a local artist.
  6. Me too, I have broken teeth grinding them at night and the noise drove my hubby batty. For me this resolved soon after being gluten-free.
  7. IMHO she should get on the diet. My DS and his Dad have only had a slightly elevated reading and the difference in their health gluten-free is astounding. I never showed up positive in any tests and was definately celiac, a lot of damage was done to my body because doctors never told me to try the diet and see if it helped. I thank God for a savvy allergist...
  8. I think I am going to try the American Spirit if they carry them at our local reservation. As long as we are on the subject of smoking I found it interesting that a recent research study they did of folks that had been long term smokers of both ciggs and marijuana showed that much to the researchers surprise smoking pot seems to nullify the carcinogenic...
  9. My problems GI wise were intermittant for years. That was one reason why they thought IBS. I always had a rumbly tummy and gas but would only get D about every 3 or four days. The D would clean out my system and then the intolerance progression would begin again. I felt great after my colonoscopy also for about 3 days. The doctor thought I was nuts cause...
  10. Actually it is a delayed gut reaction for many. That is one of the reasons it is so hard to pin down. Intolerance reactions will often show up about 3 to 7 days after consuming the offending food. This was explained to me in detail by my allergist when we did the elimination diet but I was too foggy to remember exactly why except that it had something...
  11. I'm no expert but I would not be surprised if it is not the tobacco that poisons us but all the nasty chemical additives they put in to make the cigs keep burning and to increase the addictive nature of them. I would gladly relight multiple times if needed if I could find a cig that had just tobacco.
  12. You are so lucky it was found quickly, welcome to the boards. I bet you don't come from the Finger Lakes area, it took them 15 years after I became ill with daily violent D for me to get diagnosed. It was all in my head according to GI docs, rheumys, and neurologists. Maybe we are making some headway. You found a great place for support and information...
  13. Lister have you called the company about those vitamins yet? I could be wrong but I don't think those are gluten free. You really sound like you are still getting gluten I would change to a vitamin that says gluten free right on the box. I just did an online search for the ingredients of this vitamin. They may have gluten couldn't verify that for...
  14. My DD goes to NorthEastern in Mass. They put her in senior housing her first year so that she would have her own kitchen and did not charge us for the meal plan. Most colleges will do their best to accomodate if you make your needs clear. Her second year she just moved off campus.
  15. I'm a smoker My biggest problem was when they changed the glue they used in making them. All of a sudden my lips started to blister. You would have thought that would have got me to quit but I found a brand that didn't do that. Another issue is that some companies will put gluten containing ingredients in the ciggarettes themselves. I believe this...
  16. A lot of us, including myself have had colonoscopy because we were thought to have something going on with the large intestine. Unfortunately scoping the 'wrong' end often leads to a false diagnosis of IBS. Many of us have had other tests because gluten has effected other organs. I had MRIs, electromylography and heart and lung function tests looking for...
  17. This sounds like what I had for years. It was misdiagnosed as poison ivy but the doctors could never tell us why I still had it with snow on the ground. The only thing that would clear it up was a month or so on very strong steroids and it would return within another months time. For me this was gluten, clearly gluten. As someone who suffered for years...
  18. In addition to being bad for your gut gluten is a systemic poison effecting not just your villi but every cell in your body. It can damage many organs leading to neurological problems, including mood disorders like depression and anxiety, it can damage the pancreas leading to diabetes (this can appear even years after being gluten-free I am a case in point...
  19. NO NO NO NO NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even if you don't think you are reacting your body will still be damaged.
  20. Has anyone ever had a problem with this? I noticed that many of the varieties had added 'natural and artifical flavors' always suspect of course but I bought a box that just said White Zinfandel. Now both my DS and I are having CC type issues. We also seemed to get a buzz off very little of this stuff which is usually and indication that the alcohol is...
  21. I use Stevia and Agave Syrup for sweetening and in my baking. After my diabetes diagnosis I tried some of the artifical sugars and they caused some pain under my ribs on the right. It went away when I stopped eating or drinking stuff that had them. The sugar alcohols are nasty, who needs D, but I haven't had any problems with either the stevia or the agave...
  22. Your not going crazy you are celiac. Welcome to the boards. After you have your endo please become gluten free even if the results are negative. Your depression should lift after you have been gluten-free for a while. Make sure that you eliminate gluten completely from your world after the tests.
  23. I went through a very early menapause with perimenapause beginning at your age. This is not unusual with undiagnosed celiac. Unfortunately my celiac was not found until 5 years after my periods stopped. Although my Gyno said my periods may return that has not occured. My hot flashes and night sweats stopped within a few months gluten-free. Please do...
  24. Iodized salt is only a problem if you have any skin problems linked to gluten intolerance. My DH just hung on and on even gluten free until I realized that my Hair and Skin vitamins had iodine in them. I switched to a vitamin that does not contain iodine and my last sore is finally healing.
  25. Please don't think that because you don't eat your toiletries, lotions etc. that they are safe. Call the makers and find out for sure and for certain. It is a common misconception that since we don't injest these products that they don't effect us and that misinformation keeps many of us ill for a long time after diagnosis.
