  1. I think "somebody" was telling you stay away from those baked goods!
  2. Thank you! And thanks for posting the info!
  3. Rachel, This is useful info. Is the full article online? If it is, could you post a link? Thanks!
  4. For me, the "fake it until you make it" method has been indispensable when it comes to my older son. When Lucas went gluten-free, I was nervous and upset about it, but I HAD to play it cool. Kids take their cue from their parents. And he has adjusted very, very well. Having said that, there are times when he does get sad and upset over something he...
  5. Haha! No that was last week, and it was Ezra poo! I want to be in the court too! I can wiggle one ear- the right one. I can't do the left one though. Happy Birthday Emily!!! We went to an anniversary/Halloween party at my best friend's house tonight, and got home laaaate. I ran around in high-heeled boots all night and my feet are now saying...
  6. I can tell you without any doubt whatsoever that having accidents CAN be gluten related! In fact, that is the number one main symptom that made me suspect Celiac in my older son, Lucas. He would have poopy accidents anywhere from 2 to 6 or 7 times a day, up to age 6 1/2! It was horrible, absolutely miserable, we tried everything to get him to stop. Often...
  7. No, it's not a silly question at all! I suppose part of the decision would have to depend on how old your son is. My sons are 4 1/2, and almost 7. They are not allowed to eat anywhere but at the table. Now, they are both gluten-free, but if they weren't, and I was-- the rule would be even more strict than it is. They are not capable of eating without...
  8. From the endoscopy. Make sure they take several samples if they do a biopsy. Celiac damage is very patchy and if only one sample is taken, there's a higher likelyhood that it can be missed. Edit-- Also, lots of people here do have times where they see undigested pieces of food in their stool.
  9. Hehehe... cool. <---- Thoughtful face? <---- Or maybe this is my thoughtful face! I think I'm going to paint some sheets. Maybe next weekend. I do believe I have had a bonafide case of brain fog today. The high point was when I was having an interior debate about... something... "Should I or shouldn't I, should I or shouldn...
  10. You painted sheets? Like bed sheets? What kind of paint did you use? That sounds like fun.
  11. I bet if you start a topic under the Baking and Recipes section, asking for hot drink recipes, you might get some good responses. It's worth a try to keep looking! Do you like hot cider?
  12. Unfortunately, you're not wrong I'm sorry! Barley does have gluten in it. Rye does as well. You need to watch for barley in your ingredients, as well as malt, which is derived from barley.
  13. Happy Birthday!!!
  14. BTW, thanks for the quick replies! What you both said makes a lot of sense. I am shocked that the mercury exposure is that high from the fillings, I had no idea. The Lyme thread stuff, yeah I have to admit I'm kind of stressed and bummed about the possible (probable???) Lyme. Mad, too... that something I hadn't thought about for almost 2 decades is...
  15. 90% mercury burden is from the fillings!? Are all metal fillings amalgam? What about metal crowns?
  16. Hi everybody! Ok, I've been reading along in here for awhile, trying to keep up with new posts, and occasionally going back to random pages to see if I can pick anything up (hopeless,) and I have just a couple questions. Many of you have problems with metal toxicity. 1- How did you figure that out? 2- How did you get the heavy metals? I've seen you...
  17. I did the same thing, the first gluten-free cookies I made were Bob's Red Mill, and took a big ole bite of the raw cookie dough-- I immediately gagged and hawked it into the sink. Grown woman, wiping tongue with a towel and spitting repeatedly, etc... Not pretty. It was horrid. But the baked result was great!
  18. @ the fart jokes!!! Interesting things my kids have said recently... Ezra still has trouble pronouncing the word "gluten." He generally says "bluten" or "gyooten." He has also been hearing lately that "Mommy has the flu." Soooo.... This morning, when we walked into his preschool class, he announced to his teachers, "Mommy has the...
  19. Amanda! This one is my favorite--
  20. I am NOT 100% sure, but it seemed like when I looked, nothing was safe except the drinks. I do know that their fries have a coating on them, and they're fried in with the onions rings, so No on the fries. Edit-- looking at the website, I think a cheeseburger w/o a bun is ok. There may be more but it's hard to tell the ingredients list for the grilled chicken...
  21. Thanks Julie! I actually am doing a little better today. Less groggy, less pukey. Amanda, yes, it's absolutely worth taking some time to get better!!! It's rainy here, too, which is good, we need it so bad. My dog is such a big sissy, she doesn't want to go outside to pee. I asked her, "What's wrong, don't remember what rain is like?" I talk...
  22. Ain't that the truth? Good points.
  23. I have to say that it is extremely important to remember how unreliable medical testing for Celiac is in children. I think it is 100% valid to question a biopsy at this point. I'm sorry, but biopsies are helpful, but far from foolproof- they are just too hit and miss, literally. Eliminating foods from a child's diet for NO reason is nonsense, but...
  24. Actually, you know what? I will never be organized, ever. What made me realize this just now? I glanced over at my pile of "to file" papers. The pile is about 6 inches tall, and do you know where it is sitting? On top of the filing cabinet. If I cannot get the stuff from the top of the cabinet into the appropriate files, there's just no hope for me. ...
