  1. Ok, so some of you know the issues I've been having with Ezra, my younger son. But here's a quick recap, and I'll try to make this short! He started pre-school in August and has been sick ever since, but not with anything contagious- it's been sinus infections, coughing, post nasal drippage, and most recently, pneumonia. He also has been having more...
  2. Having the same problem here- greyed out folders, even though I haven't read the new posts. I use Firefox. -Sarah
  3. My 4-yr-old (who is going gluten-free tomorrow) has always gotten bad rashes in the butt area, and when he was in a diaper, they were absolutely hideous. Now, and then also, I use Aveeno Bath Powder. It soothed him so much, that even at age 2, he would toddle up to me asking for a "special powder bath." Also, the Aveeno Diaper Cream worked much better for...
  4. I haven't been here long, but I don't think anything can be off-topic in this thread! Let me tell you, I am NOT one of those odd adults that watches cartoons everyday, but Avatar, animated or not, is one of the coolest series to come out in a while. It's all about balance, balance in everything. M. Night Shyamalan has signed on to do a live-action...
  5. How old is he? With both of my sons, there just suddenly came a point where they were peeing a lot more, and had a leaky diaper most of the time. I can't remember exactly how old they were when this happened, but it seemed evident that it was a developmental thing- particularly because after this went on for several months, then they would start to longer...
  6. Well, now that's all right! I want to be an Water Bender, myself! -Sarah
  7. Yes, I have heard several accounts of babies reacting to the gluten in breastmilk, from what the mother is ingesting. And the GI specialist is right, the tests are very unreliable in young children. I say, follow your instinct! Put him on a gluten-free diet and see if he improves. There's no danger in eating gluten-free. It does take some effort on your...
  8. Oh my gawwd, I am soo behind! Now we're having a rainbow parade and Chuck Norris is gay- rock on! We definitely need Rainbow Brite danglies for the float. For those of you who don't know Rainbow Brite, check this out- Open Original Shared Link One time, I saw on Walker Texas Ranger, he walked over an underground prison cell, and stopped... he suddenly...
  9. That sounds exactly like my son! He wants to be Darth Vader when he grows up That pic is from last Halloween. He says he wants to wear it again this year (Woohoo for me!) -Sarah
  10. It's been in the low to mid nineties here for days and days, and we've had several record breaking highs lately... but it finally cooled down here today, too. It was about 50 when I took the kids to school, and is supposed to be milder today. The trees haven't really even started turning yet, which is bizarre. My petunias are still growing like crazy, even...
  11. Luke has a PB&J for lunch every single day, day after day. If I try to vary, he's like, Umm, Mom you forgot my sandwich. So far, we've tried about a 1/2 dozen different kinds of bread (pre-made and homemade) and his favorite for PB&J sandwiches is EnerG Light Tapioca Bread. I order it from Amazon by the 6-loaf case. He also likes cinnamon-sugar...
  12. Luke's pediatric dental specialist told me to have him swish every night with ACT for kids. It's a flouride rinse, though, not an antiseptic or anything. She said it might help build his enamel back up, which I've since heard is impossible... At the time, I didn't know enough to ask her why his enamel wasn't up to par to begin with. Now, of course I know...
  13. It's not cuz you're old, it's cuz you're a BOY! -Sarah
  14. My older son had no less than 12 cavities on his first dentist appointment, and I am a tooth brushing Nazi. He should not have had all those cavities. At the time, the dentist told me that I gave my son too much fruit juice. What??? Candy, I would've understood (had I given him much, but everyone said I was a meany because I wouldn't let my kids have any...
  15. GASP! BTW, regarding favorite kids' shows... I was always a big fan of Rainbow Brite, myself... Actually.... heheh... ... I have a little Rainbow Brite dangling from the rearview mirror in my Blazer right now. -Sarah
  16. Ezra has been known to chop at his hair as well. Ya think you've got the scissors out of reach... then their arms grow while you're not looking. The last time Ez did this, he chopped the front, and it looked a bit like a slightly shorter version of Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka -Sarah
  17. I agree with Tiffany- his behavior is abusive. Name calling and threats are absolutely abuse, and the fact that he did it in front of your child... that's bad, real bad. His obsessiveness about you having the house spotless 100% of the time is also symptomatic of his problem. To call you horrible names and threaten you, and then laugh... to me, this is unbalanced...
  18. All of the symptoms you mentioned can be attributed to Celiac. Between that, and the fact that his blood test came back positive.... to me, that is more than enough of a reason to take him gluten-free, and not worry about any further testing right now. The bad teeth, in particular, implies malabsorption of nutrients. That's not something you want to prolong...
  19. Hmm... I don't twirl anything... I only play CDs.... I have been in a couple parades, as a Girl Scout, and all I had to do was walk. Yeah, that's right... I was a Girl Scout! Maybe I can make a big Celiac Awareness CareBear for the float. Bet I could do that It'll be a green bear, and have the No Wheat symbol on it's belly! -Sarah
  20. Ok, ok, so Tostitos have been known to assume dangerous flight patterns around me, howevah- I assure you that the company of us Tostito Eaters is nothing like being in the peeing section of a pool, thank you very much! -Sarah
  21. She is a most generous and good matriarch, love of her country and her subjects quite evident in her recent decree... -Sarah
  22. It's always a tough situation, and tough decisions have to be made. I think you made some very good points. -Sarah
  23. Accckkk! My mother ate 2 Pringles and nearly ended up in the hospital!!! I'm not kidding, and I'm not exaggerating. Now, we're in the US, I'm not sure where you are... but the can of Pringles she ate out of listed actual wheat flour in the ingredients- somehow she missed it, this was rather shortly after her diagnosis. She got so violently ill, frankly it...
