  1. Why did you get kicked off??? I mean what justification was there!? -Sarah
  2. BTW, here's a little silliness for you... Lucas's elementary school is doing a big fundraiser right now, called Cow Bingo. I had never heard of this (but I am not originally from the south... my family's from the finger lake region of NY- we moved down here when I was a kid.) So I had to get his teacher to explain it to me. So we're all selling...
  3. Cold Mountain is one of my very favorite movies! The description of what's going on inside your mouth basically sounds like torture. Ugh, I am sorry you're having a hard time with that on top of other stuff!!! -Sarah
  4. I read some of those messages... I hope you don't get pummeled, you're just trying to help, for pete's sake! It really irritates me when some people have no problem making a sweeping generalization, and stating it as fact. I mean, you're trying to say, the gluten-free diet do-able and safe, and has helped some autistics see improvement. This guy's...
  5. Good luck today! Give us an update when you get a chance. -Sarah
  6. Excellent advice for everyone! -Sarah
  7. Oh thank you, this helps a lot! I'm sure we can find the addresses online, we just didn't even know where to start. If we do have trouble finding the addresses, I'll let you know. Thanks again! -Sarah
  8. I always wanted a nickname, but... Thank you, thank you! Ok, my Tostito eye trauma's going to be hard to live down!
  9. Next time you're coming out to the other side of the country (North Carolina,) let me know and we'll have a party! I looove throwing parties. Next spring we're going to build a pond with a waterfall going down the hill in our back yard, and add onto our back deck. Normally this type of thing would probably be beyond our means, especially with me going back...
  10. My (Celiac) mom is going on a work-related trip to Raleigh in a few weeks. Raleigh's a few hours from us, and she'll be staying for three days, I believe. I need any info you can give me regarding gluten savvy restaurants, etc. Any help is so appreciated! Thanks!!! -Sarah
  11. My Whole Foods just put out the 365 gluten-free mixes this week, but they're 3.99 and up, here! I think my Whole Foods is the most expensive one in the country. I've also never seen Gluten Free Pantry products at my Wal-mart.... There is ONE grocery store near me that carries a couple things- a couple Bob's Red Mill items, and Ian's Chicken...
  12. Happy Birthday! -Sarah
  13. I just had this happen to a gluten-free loaf I recently made in my bread machine as well. This particularly aggravated me, because I'd made other gluten-free recipes in this machine successfully. I think it simply didn't bake long enough, but I'm not sure. Hopefully someone will chime in with the answer. -Sarah

    ARCHIVED Rice

My family eats rice probably about every other day. We did this before we ever learned about gluten, and we still do it now. But I'd say this is probably much more often than a lot of families in America... I think. -Sarah
  15. I have always loved Jack Russell's when I've met them, but have never owned one myself... A little OT, but I have to tell you something funny about my dog... She tries to hug people. Yeah, seriously. She's a Heinz 57 (little bit of everything) But looks very German Shepherdy, Beautiful dog, but very funny. Her mom (my friend's dog) got killed by a hit...
  16. Carla! Your kitchen looks huuuge! I know, like you said, the cabinets and all are out, but wow, I'm jealous. The house we're in now is teensy weensy, just over 900 sf! We've got so much stuff crammed into our storage shed, it's not even funny. (I think it's time for a trip to Goodwill... or maybe several ) Amanda, I've never seen The Office, but my...
  17. Ohh, I feel for you! It sounds like you're going through a rough time! Well, the problem here is that Celiac blood tests are unreliable in children under the age of 6, I believe, and even more so under the age of 2. False negatives are quite common in little kids! I'm betting you'll have several people chiming in differing opinions on what your...
  18. It's my understanding that any race can develop Celiac, period. Just like any race can get cancer or diabetes. It seems that it's more prevalent for some races, but anyone can get it, regardless of race, sex, or age. -Sarah
  19. I am waiting anxiously for this also. I heard that R.O.C.K. puts out an updated list every year, but this year's isn't done yet. -Sarah (another one )
  20. Now that tickled me, I snorted my Diet Coke! Reading this thread while anything is heading toward my mouth is dangerous! Carla, ugggghhh, how hideous! Definitely a day worth putting on fast forward -Sarah
  21. Cool deal, thanks for the info!! Yes indeedy, he is 4 years old and we often call him Darth Ezra... or sometimes Dr. Destructo. His aspiration in life is to be a super villain when he grows up Sometimes I worry -Sarah
  22. I'm sorry- ((big hugs)) -Sarah
  23. I believe this too. I think of this as the Soul Group theory. I've never read Sylvia Browne, though I've heard of her. A couple of my aunts love her stuff. We went on the Hershey tour a few years ago, when we visited family in Harrisburg. It was fun, but I really want to go again, now that the kids are a little older. It... smells... so.....
  24. But they are so full of salty, corny, crunchy goodness! If I had had some cheesy salsa and sour cream, I would've been in heaven! Although, what ended up in my eye might've been a little scary. Amanda, big YAY for Friday is seconded here! -Sarah
