  1. We spent this past weekend up in Winter Park, CO, which we usually do about once a year. We like to go horseback riding at the YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch in Fraser. We decided to try the dinner ride this time which is a 2 hour ride with a steak dinner. I called and talked to the cook about the menu which was: Steak (seasoned with Lawry's seasoning salt...
  2. I love our Laptop Lunchbox. We haven't had any issues with spillage or compartments leaking into eachother and absolutely *love* it. The main outside box really does the trick, and my DD twists and turns her lunchbox every which way. It has been a true blessing to have this lunchbox. It really takes the guesswork out of packing lunch.
  3. I suppose you could resort to taking away other priveliges when you bust him for eating gluten-foods. I think maybe he just needs to know where the line is, and when he crosses it there is punishment. Sounds like having a teenager is kind of like having a toddler! That is really awful about his mother. It makes me so sad because I love nothing more...
  4. Ok, this is almost said tongue-in-cheek, but maybe you could do like some parents do when they bust their kids smoking. Buy a whole bunch of gluten-y foods and make him eat 'til he's about to burst. I'm not sure I could ACTUALLY condone that knowing what gluten does to Celiacs, and it sounds like your son is in that odd "honeymoon period." I certainly...
  5. Holy cow how awesome! My DD LOVES fondue. We've eaten at La Fondue in downtown Denver, but pre-gluten-free. I've been meaning to check how to make going there gluten-free but I suspect we'll just start going to the Melting Pot. YUM!
  6. This Chili's is at 88th and Wadsworth on the northeast corner. If you can, ask for Sabree to be your server. We actually live in Arvada and go to the Noodles at 80th and Wadsworth with quite a bit of success as well.
  7. Wow. That sounds exactly like what she feels. It's definitely in the feet/ankles/calves area. I have the Gummy Vites but I'll be more religious about making sure she gets it every day. She loves taking them every day, I just forget. Perhaps I'll pack one in her lunchbox (hooray for laptop lunches) so that way I know she's getting it. With her it's hard...
  8. My mom forwarded the article to me and I was so excited! DD wants to be an actress in NY and she was so happy to see such a positive spin on where to eat gluten-free in NYC!
  9. I had written once before (the downtown Denver location was helpful too, and no coupons). I input my address this time (not remembering if I had before) so we'll see what happens! I *love* coupons!
  10. Oddly, she's not super skinny at all. I think we caught the dx before she started having severe weight loss and such (although she is about 45% for height for her age). Sometimes with DD (the drama queen) I have to ask the question the right way to make sure she's stating her answer the way I need to figure it out. I think for now she's simply crossing...
  11. Here are a few links to threads about the gluten-free status regarding Tylenol Meltaways: June 2006 Open Original Shared Link March 2007 Open Original Shared Link
  12. I had the same concern but did find (on this site I believe) I'll see if I can find it. It seems as though there has been some discussion/concern about those but I'm positive I've read something to help quell that. My general feeling has been that the Tylenol company is difficult, at best, about disclosing their gluten. Ish.
  13. We don't restrict dairy with her at all, but she's not fond of dairy products. Doesn't really care for milk or yogurt and eats cheese when cooked w/ a meal but won't touch string cheese, etc. Fortunately she's a good veggie eater and eats broccoli while it's going out of style.
  14. I might not have mentioned home is gluten-free as well, with rare exception when her little brother has oatmeal but we essentially put him into confinement when he does.
  15. Certainly could have been "cold" related or even seasonal allergies (although she's never been tested). I'm so worried about all the "extras" that come with Celiac sometimes it's hard not to be sure it's something Celiac related especially since the first night with the tinglies was very reminiscent of the nights she spent crying most of the night because...
  16. She's been reporting the tinglies for about 3 days now. The first day being the worst and gradually subsiding through today. I s'pose I'll keep my eye on it and head to the doc if it persists, even mildly. She was actually at the Dr. today just to have her ears and throat checked after week-long cold symptoms, but we saw a PA that I'm not super fond of so...
  17. Hubby got a promotion and a raise yesterday (completely out of the blue from his boss). While this was great news, we wanted to celebrate in typical American fashion by spending it before we have it and going out to dinner. We picked Chili's because we've already had 1 positive dining experience there and I knew the gluten-free menu was quite extensive...
  18. DD has been gluten-free since May and only a few glutenings since then. Most of her symptoms before were non-GI related and mostly behavior related and leg pains. Going gluten-free has taken care of most of this. Until this week. She has complained of her legs feeling tingly and in pain, as though her legs had "fallen asleep" a lot of the time. ...
  19. I think this lunchbox is perfect for a 5 year old. We've never tried warm food, although we do have a thermos to send along, too, if need be. I asked my DD today if her food stays cold (even without an ice pack) and she says it does. I pack it right after dinner so the lunch spends the night in the fridge. Seriously, the thing with this lunchbox is...
  20. My DD is a big fan of nachos and while she's been at day camp this summer she has access to a microwave. I pack Mission corn chips and some Kroger shredded cheddar and a little bit of salsa in the small lidded container and she puts the cheese on the chips and nukes it when it's time to eat. I toss in some fresh fruit depending on what we have in the house...
  21. Our one experience at Chilis was positive. My DD ordered the child's plate with ribs w/ original sauce and corn on the cob and had no problems at all.
  22. I was wondering this too as I saw some Paul Newman's Organic items at Wild Oats the other day that were labeled as gluten-free but had the CYA statement about a facility that processes wheat as well. I think I'll have to check those out w/ the company to see if it's the same lines or just the facility. I know I had purchased some chips some which...
  23. Thanks so much for sharing your experience and I'm glad it was a positive one. We haven't been to Maggiano's since DD was DXd but she's a huge pasta lover so I'm sure we will sooner rather than later.
  24. Actually, I just looked and you CAN! Open Original Shared Link YAY!
  25. YIPEEE!!!!!!!! Thanks so much! Definitely have to give those a go. Oreos are my DDs favorite!
