  1. Psillies . . . I was googling "Les" just to get to know him a bit better and guess what I found??? Les did some voice work in a couple of Care Bear episodes!!! Coincidence??? I think not!!! Because Jess always wants a link : Open Original Shared Link Thinking of our Em . . .
  2. I email a letter to the teacher prior to school starting. The first day of school is zoo-like and hard to get a teacher's undivided attention for something as serious as this. In my email I let the teacher know to forward it to any other teachers that my child will have (we have different teachers for art, music, and spanish). I also carbon copy the school...
  3. What Richard said . . . and . . . If someone in a family has been diagnosed with Celiac Disease, there is a much higher chance that additional family members are at risk for having it or developing it later in life (due to the genetic/hereditary component of the disease). My daughter's GI recommended that our whole family be screened (siblings...
  4. Ummm . . . yeah . . . pickles don't agree with me either . . . because they are . . . PICKLES . . . blech Mom used to put relish in her chicken salad . . . I got into big-time trouble once for trying to flush a chicken salad sandwich down the toilet. OK . . . back to your regularly scheduled program . . .
  5. I think it's trial and error . . . some people don't even need to limit dairy. We didn't. I did give my daughter the lactaid chewables if she was consuming a "decent" amount of dairy in one sitting. I don't even know if we needed it. It's hard to get real feed back from a six year old. We stayed on the lactaid for two or three months but we also were...
  6. You better believe it!!! . . . Hugs and prayers and strength to you Em.
  7. This is one of the worse case (public relations) scenarios in my opinion . . . The uninformed (face it, how much did you really know before you had to live it) public sees two extremely different interpretations of "living with Celiac Disease". How are they to know which is the right way? How many are going to go home and research just out of curiousity...
  8. Thinkin of you and your family, Em. Open Original Shared Link
  9. . . . Thinkin' of you and your family, Em. Nite all.
  10. Mee Too!!! . . . Of course, I am lazy!!! I can't clean because of the clutter and I can't get rid of the clutter because I desperately need to clean. That's my story and I'm stickin' with it!!

  14. Some of our travel/restaraunt meals: We have little glad/tupperware containers and take a little peanut butter and she dips glutino pretzel into the peanut butter. We take the individual cups/portions of Hidden Valley Ranch dressing and she has a salad . . . she loves salad, go figure. We take the glutino pizza bread sticks, jarred pizza sauce (once...
  15. Kroger's store brand chicken broth is gluten free (and labeled on the box).
  16. . . . but here is my squirrel news. I spotted him yesterday . . . a half albino squirrel . . . his tail is white and his body is probably a couple shades lighter than our regular squirrels (but not white) . . . talk about funny looking . . . and no, it's not paint. Back to the blues . . . She could chew blue bubble gum? She could carry...
  17. I hear ya . . . I found out that my daughter's friend's father has Celiac disease (did you follow that ). He was diagnosed when he was a kid and says it "flairs up" if he eats too much gluten. My daughter knows he has Celiac disease . . . has she seen him eating whatever he wants? I don't think he would ever offer her anything with gluten, but what about...
  18. . . . and I think we all know people who would rather not be tested for fear of the diet. If they don't actually "know" then they can pretend they don't have it . . . but if they had a pill, then it would be something they would investigate. The "head-in-the sand" mentality applies to many medical situations, not just celiac disease. That being said...

  23. We figure we'll be around Acadia National Park somewhere . . . I'm having a hard time navigating my atlas. There's a bazillion towns along the coast . . . all with populations under 1000 and everyone of them gets a dot. . . . I bought reading glasses . . .
  24. Hey, looks like we might try renting a house in Maine next year for our family vacation. We go with friends from Cincinnati. Any recommendations? . . . Places to stay, restaraunts, "must-sees" or "don't bother wifs". Bev, I was thinking you may have wondered up there a time or two.
