ARCHIVED Do Your Kids Cry For Food They Can't Have?
celiac-mommy replied to SAHM2one's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
If you decide to keep him gluten-free, then there should be no circumstance where gluten should intentionally be given to him. If he cries about it, he cries about it. I would rather hear my child cry than give him something that makes him sick. I always try to plan ahead with foods for the kids. If there are parties or family functions, then I will ususally... -

ARCHIVED The Miracle Of Magnesium
celiac-mommy replied to RiceGuy's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I've gotten off of mainstream meds for my anxiety disorder, and my dr has me on Mg/Ca++ suppliment-it's made a huge difference. Ca++ causes constipation and Mg causes D, so the 2 balance each other. Plus, in order to get the benefits from each due to the body's absorption of the minerals, you should take them together. One helps the body absorb the other... -

I know I'm not really involved in this thread, but I couldn't help this one, CALLING ALL MOMS...... Baby beluga in the deep blue sea, Swim so wild and you swim so free. Heaven above and the sea below, And a little whale on the go. Baby beluga, oh, baby beluga, Is the water warm? Is your mama home with you so happy? Way down yonder where the dolphins... -
Yeah, I hear you, I agree. It's his decision, someday he'll regret it. If I've learned anything, especially this past year with our family issues, you cannot control the decisions of others. You extended your hand to him, he chose not to take it. If you can focus on your babies and Annika's special day, it will be that much more special for you and...

I know that the Macchiatos from Starbucks are gluten-free (and my favorite!!), and the Torani carmel syrup and sauce is gluten-free. If it's neither of these, you might call the company just in case. I had to switch to soy... -

I make this as a dessert for my kids, and there's no sugar! 1 apple per kid chopped into small chunks (skin on) sprinkle with cinnamon (you can sprinkle w/ sugar if you want--brown would be nice, or syrup) Microwave 3-5 minutes depending on microwave (my method for a quick dessert) or Bake 350 for 20-30 minutes depending on how soft you like the... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free In Cannon Beach, Oregon?
celiac-mommy replied to Hummingbird4's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Which hotel are you staying at? We go there a few times a year and have never had a problem at Cannon Beach, Seaside or Lincoln City (my personal fav). Any fish restaurant works well because you can have them steam or poach fish with veggies. -
ARCHIVED You've Got To Try This...3 Minute Chocolate Cake
celiac-mommy replied to RissaRoo's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Do you think you may have forgotten the sugar or added too much cocoa powder? I only used 2 TBS sugar and it was just sweet enough. I did mix mine in a separate bowl, and I used one of my giant coffee mugs so it didn't climb the sides. I checked it at about 2.5 minutes and it was just perfect. It also sounds like you may have cooked it too long... What... -

celiac-mommy replied to wsieving's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We use the ROCK list too, but before we leave to trick-or-treat, we talk to the kids, just to remind them that there's going to be some things they can't eat, they seem totally fine with it. We really pump up the experience of the trick-or-treating, not the candy getting. This year we are going to do something a little different. This is what our dentist... -
