  1. This is what I do, I've never had anything but a positive experience. The chef is usually more than happy to help. Once, I complimented on the dessert and he came out shortly after with the recipe!
  2. This is my dd's favorite, sometimes we add a package of hot cocoa mix to the boiling water with the cereal, she thinks she's getting a treat for breakfast.
  3. I also think that this is a great place for people to come and talk about any frustrations, bad days, hard times, etc... (as well as all the happy stuff) because unless you are living in the trenches of this everyday of your life, you can't possibly understand what they're going thru. This is a great place to get that support and understanding from your...
  4. RR is one of our "treat" restaurants, but always always check regarding the french fries, not all locations have gluten-free friers!! We've never been glutened there (at any location) and the staff is always nothing but wonderful with my kids.
  5. Have you been in to talk with the teachers, principal and school nurse? I arm everyone--even the cafeteria staff (even though dd only buys milk) with a binder with all the info regarding celiac disease. I also make an appt with each one the week before school starts to go over all of the info. Maybe we've just been really lucky so far with no glutenings...
  6. We get the 3 variety box at Costco and it happens that they are my 3 fav's--apple pie, cherry pie and chocolate. I also like the Jokalate (sp??) lara bars, but don't buy them for the kids because of the caffine. At Costco, they are <1$ a bar too.
  7. I got this one recently: "This is totally OK for the kids to eat, I made sure and only used graham crackers"
  8. What is the religious affiliation/church? That might help answer the attire question. I think at most churches, a dress of appropriate length or nice slacks and a blouse would be totally appropriate. The gift ideas I agree with as well. It's nice if it not only has a religious "theme" but also contains some kind of sentiment between the child and the...
  9. Our house is gluten-free except for my bread and my cereal. I have a separate toaster in a separate area. We have a 2nd small kitchen in the basement, so regular pizza, if ordered is kept in that fridge as is any gluten snack that is brought in the house. No baking with gluten in the house though, EVER! I'm super paranoid of CC, so I'm constantly cleaning...
  10. I emailed them after hours and received an email back within 12 hours-and it was helpful Hello Rachelle, Thank you for contacting us as to whether or not our products have gluten derived ingredients. We understand how important this information is for you. At Beiersdorf, we strive to offer our consumers the best products possible, and...
  11. I've been thinking about this since my last post, I grew up with a lot of body issues, I was 5'11" at the age of 12 with a large C cup--that messes with your head if it's not dealt with properly and my mom didn't know how to teach me how to love myself and be happy with my body. I have come a long way and I have been very healthy the last 8 years with no...
  12. No, I'm not that lucky. I really struggle. I do Krav Maga which is an Israeli martial arts, it burns over 800 calories per hour-I do this a few days a week. I also lift weights 3x a week, yoga 1x a week and mat pilates 2x a week, plus, I have 2 VERY active kids and a big house to clean. I work out so much that according to my trainer, 2000 is probably...
  13. Yeah, and I use the Pamela's so I cut the fat significantly in the recipe.....I'll keep telling myself they're healthy
  14. This is exactly what I do too--and when I make your cookies, I almost can't eat anything the next day
  15. You're going to make me fat I let my kids have 2nds on dessert last night just to get those oatmeal chocolate cookies out of my kitchen!!! I know my motto is "everything in moderation" but there are sometimes I cannot help myself
  16. I TOTALLY agree, and being accountable makes a huge difference!!! But IMHO, you can't exercise every day and intake 1200 calories, you need more than that. I was also on a 1200 calorie diet years ago and was exercising every day. I lost a little weight at first but then nothing was coming off. After talking to a nutritionist, I found that I was taking...
  17. I also agree with both statements--everything in moderation and 1200 is about the base amount of calories to sustain life functions. If you are bed-ridden and are doing nothing in terms of activity, then 1200 may be OK if done right with all the proper nutrients. I know height and weight play a roll for sure, I just also know that 1200 is very difficult...
  18. I used to use CG cosmetics as well as many other P&G products, but I got into it with their customer service and won't use their stuff anymore. Here's the thread from a few months ago: Open Original Shared Link Basically they can't guarantee that any of their ingredients are gluten-free nor do they truly understand the importance of gluten...
  19. Ours is different, ours is no more than 5 per giver (I think it's Oregon law) and no matter how many kids in the class, they have at least 2 teachers and no more than 10 kids per classroom. Once they hit pre-school at 3-5 years of age, it moves to up to 10 per teacher, but our preschool class my son will be entering in September will have no more than 1...
  20. I started at 12 and my sister started at 16, it varies so much from girl to girl. Take advantage of this flow-free time If it hasn't happened by 16, then revisit the situation...
  21. I will add my experience for what it's worth.. My dd never once got glutened from daycare, preschool or elementary school so far. My son has twice, not because of cc issues but because he grabbed something from someone else's plate. He was about 30mo at diagnosis and dd was 4--there was definetly a difference in understanding between the 2...
  22. For those choco-holics as well as those looking for a DEVINE snack under 100calories, I created this last night and now I don't think I'll be able to go a night without it: 16oz near boiling water 1 pkg sugar free hot cocoa mix 1 TBS sugar free chocolate pudding powder whisk well, it thickens perfectly into the most rich hot chocolate that tastes...
  23. I just pulled these out of the oven and they are OUTSTANDING! Thank you soooo much for the recipe. I did use the Pamela's and 1/3 cup melted butter. -DANGEROUS
  24. Which cities? I can give you Vancouver and Portland if you need...
  25. I think the almond flour in the mix also acts as a fat, if the recipe contains too much fat (as an ingredient, not referring to being healthier) the recipe doesn't set up right. Cookies will be totally flat and run all over the place, muffins and cakes will take forever to cook and still not seem totally set up, although super moist-but too moist, trust...
