  1. Thanks for the review! I live in Denver and you've mentioned some new places to try. Cheers! Michelle
  2. I use 100% Nestles powdered cocoa and add plain sugar. Can be added to milk or water. Taste's great and no nasty chemicals. Only slightly more trouble than ripping open a mix bag as you have to dip the spoon into the cocoa and then a different spoon into the sugar. This is the way we used to make it in the girl scouts when I was a kid. I don't use vanilla...
  3. I thought for sure they must give you more than one for that price, maybe a case of 3. But I checked and it was just one. Shocking! They must not be going for economy of scale with the big ones. Even the case of 8 of the three inchers for $63.84 which basically works out to $8 each is a bit shocking. Michelle
  4. They work wonderfully for me. I did a 3.5 mth world cruise and rarely got glutened. I ate them before almost every meal. Next month I'm leaving on another 1 mth trip to Europe and will take enough to have some before every meal. I use Enzymedica GlutenEase and Digest Gold. Cheers! Michelle
  5. Hi Sarah, It is Gluten Ease by Enzymedica. I take it along with their Digest Gold. They are both digestive enzymes. We have it in our health food grocery stores but I'm sure you can get it on-line. I still order everything in restaurants gluten free but now I almost never get cc issues. There are a number of different brands with similar products...
  6. I get sick from Udi's gluten free bread every time. Unfortunately I have eaten dozens of loaves because it is so good. I had to go cold turkey about a month ago as I was getting a low grade glutening every day. Since I went cold turkey only once or twice a reaction. One associated with a box of Van's waffles. The other I think was cc in my kitchen. Michelle
  7. My husband and I both loved them. We both did not like Ians. I liked the dinosaur shaped ones by someone who's name I don't remember. My husband preferred the Applegate farms to all other brands. If we can find them we will be buying more Applegate Farms chicken nuggets. For some reason our store took the sign down when the last package was bought. Michelle
  8. A number of the Burts Bees ones are. You can e-mail them for the current list. Mine is years old. I use their Marshmallow Vanishing Creme in the summer and during the day in the winter. In the evening during the winter I use their Evening Primrose Overnight Creme. The Marshamallow Creme is light weight whereas the Evening Primrose is very heavy. Perfect...
  9. Udi's bread in Denver gets me every time. It is the world best tasting gluten free bread and I can't eat it. I think it is because they only washed the lines when they converted over to gluten free, didn't replace them. Very low level of cross contamination but enough to keep me in the house near the restroom. I now buy only Outside the Breadbox from Colorado...
  10. I'm also planning a trip to Italy this fall. I haven't stayed there yet but found this on the web site of the Crown Plaza hotel in Rome. "Specially organized gluten free menu and gluten free products included on our breakfast buffet 2008 IHG EMEA Award for Hotel Renovations Gluten free menus available" Open Original Shared Link As a result...
  11. Thanks! I did not know this and now I do. It is nice to have a widely available brand sold at mainstream stores that I can get when I'm out of my home area and don't know where the local health food store is.
  12. Yes I have tried it. It is to die for! I don't even follow the directions and use a mixer or follow the order to put in the ingredients. I just put all the liquids/butter together and then add the dry mix. I use a hand wisk to get all the lumps out. It turned out great both times I made it. Better than any gluten free cake I have ever had. For some reason...
  13. There was one in Erie Colorado that opened then closed. I don't know if they failed or just closed up shop. They seemed to be an extension of Deby's. Unfortunately they had really limited hours so I never went there. Although I would love a totally gluten free store/restaurant near me I must confess I don't make the 45 min. drive to Deby's that often. I will...
  14. Sorry, can't help with your question so I hope you'll forgive my posting but please post a review when you get back. I love to cruise but haven't gone since going gluten free. I love to read about others experiences so I can make a good cruise line choice when I venture out on the high seas. What cruise line are you going on? Thanks! Michelle
  15. Hi Patti, I use Digest Gold (regular digestive enzyme) and GlutenEase (specifically to help with digesting gluten) whenever I eat out and my glutenings have gone down significantly. They are both by Enzymedica. I have no experience with other brands so don't know how they compare. There is some controversy on the GlutenEase in that people want you to be...
  16. Thanks for posting a review! I had been considering Holland America for my next cruise but the more positive reviews for gluten free food seem to be NCL and Royal Carribean so maybe I will restrict my search to those cruise lines. I really appreciate your taking the time to let us know of your experience. Michelle
  17. Hi All, I went to the 9th Door in Denver tonight and got glutened. I didn't feel it until I got home which was about a half hour after I stopped eating so it could have been anywhere in the meal. I got there early enough to get the cheaper happy hour appetizers which the waiter said could be made gluten free even if they weren't marked. I only ordered marked...
  18. Ooh, I just looked up the menu at the 9th Door. I found this post tonight when searching for a place to take my friend for her birthday. We lucked out and got a reservation tonight and I just got back. It was really good! Thanks! Post meal update: I got glutened. I posted for help from those who have been there to figure out why because the food was so good...
  19. I've been buying a brand of chocolate bar called Dagoba organic chocolate. It comes in about 15 different exotic flavors (don't worry it also has plain). It says Gluten Free right on the back of every bar. I love supporting a company that says it right on the bar and I don't have to do a bunch of leg work to figure it out. It is at my local Vitamin Cottage...
  20. Hi, Thanks for your reports! I love to cruise but haven't been since going gluten free. I was hesitant to try Princess since I had not yet seen a good report. We are Platinum on Princess so it has been one of my favorite lines. To perhaps look at one thing a little differently if a server at a restaurant delivers a meal to me and doesn't mention that...
  21. We use ours at least 4 times per day (2 smoothies each). My favorite is the banana split smoothie: 1 banana 3 frozen strawberries (we get the big bag from Costco) 1/3 cup pasturized egg white (from the carton) 1 tsp chocolate extract (optional as it is hard to find) Put all in a magic bullet glass, fill with water to about 3/4 inch from the top....
  22. I'm going to be the first person to reply since I just invested some $s and my experience may help someone else. I'll start with the Lip Shimmers. I love these! So far I have bought 6 colors. Not because I really needed six colors but because the colors on the lids are not at all like that in the tube (but what lipstick ever is?). Hint: right now Walgreens...
  23. I've been trying to switch over all my personal care products and based on another post tried some Burt's Bees products. However there were alot of things in the store that weren't on the gluten free list so I wrote and got an updated list. Here it is: Appropriate List For Gluten Restricted Patients Products NOT containing wheat, Oat, Rye & Barley...
  24. We don't use oatmeal shampoo but I thought I would relate our experiences. We have 3 dogs (15, 10 and 3 yrs old) so these events are not all at the same time. My hands would get red and irritated using a high end hypoallergenic shampoo. I switched to Johnson's baby shampoo. Now when I pet my dogs, no reaction. My groomer said it was fine since dog's Ph...
  25. Hi, I recently set out to replace all my personal care products to try and solve a dry flaking skin problem on my face. In my research I found the Dakota Free products on-line but no review of them so now that I have used some for a week I thought I would provide a review. I chose this line to try because of the short ingredients list with minimal chemicals...
