ARCHIVED Anyone Doing Scd?Susan123 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease I hope you don't mind me asking but how do you get C-diff. From Antibiotic use? How long? I am on it for 2 months at least and want to make sure I don't get c-diff. I am eating 8 oz of stoneyfarm yogurt a day with blueberries. I am also taking L-Acidophillus 500 million x two. Will that do or should I be doing something else?

ARCHIVED Holy Day Of Obligation - Ash WednesdaySusan123 replied to penguin's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease These are the rules from my church. If you are under 17 or over 50 something you don't have to fast. If you fall in the age range fasting is 2 small meals and one regular meal no snacking in between.

Be careful with taking acidophillus with some antibiotics. I am taking Macrobid and magnesium inhibits the abosorption of it. Acidophillus supplements sometimes has magnesium as an ingredient. My doctor said that macrobid doesn't cause yeast infections. Does anybody know if that is true? I am on a least a month of Macrobid and nervous about it.

ARCHIVED MetronidazoleSusan123 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Take it from someone who was on it for a week. It causes stomach distress in anyone celiac or not. Your stomach rumbles like crazy, its upset, D increases etc. My doctor said the side effects outweigh the final outcome. They thought I had C-Diff too. Another coworker took it and had the same side effects. I could hear his stomach across the office...

ARCHIVED Urinary Tract InfectionsSusan123 replied to EmilyLMT's topic in Related Issues & Disorders Reoccuring UTIs can indicate a more serious problem like strictures and inflammation in the urethra of females. I am going through this right now. I went to see a urologist who has me on medication now. One advice he gave me (some of it obvious) to prevent UTIs - drink plenty of water, eat blueberries, yogurt. If you are not prone to kidney stones...

Willick's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications According to the box they have original, butter, cheddar cheese and country bacon. The Butter has wheat for sure. Not sure about gluten though. My office mate offered some to me the day you posted that so that is why I wanted to make sure you knew. I almost ate it. Whew!

This goes to show that you can assume something about someone and be totally wrong and narrow minded or tunnel vision. I am by no means classic at all. I am 33 years old and have spent years getting me to this point. I came down with a virus where the "D" didn't go away right away. My doctor tested me for Celiac and my IgA came back 141, IgG was normal...

I am sorry you had such a bad time with doctors but to put them all in one boat is just horrible. Everybody person is an individual just like every doctor is an individual and should not be categorize as one entity. I know several good doctors who caught celiac right away in myself as well as other non-family members. Did they have family members with...

I hate to say but without doctors the disease does not get researched so instead of bashing them maybe we should support the promotion of good doctors. Who's our enemy the doctors or gluten?

ARCHIVED Which Multivitamin Do You Use?Susan123 replied to elisabet's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Two questions: Is there only one oil of olay vitamin? Don't want to pick the wrong one. Does anybody know if the orange chewable Centrum for the US is ok?

I eat Fast food a lot and it is hard to find things. Wendys seems to have the most options: I usually get a spring mix salad with honey mustard dressing, baked potato, fries, chili etc. For Mc Donalds I only eat breakfast there- Big breakfast is gluten-free minus the biscuit. Chick Fila has items too but I don't prefer them. Each website has a list...

ARCHIVED Allergist And Food Allergy Scratch TestsSusan123 replied to ms-sillyak-screwed's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms I reacted to Wheat and Corn. My doctor told me that it is very rare to have a true wheat allergy and that you can be intolerant and not have a wheat allergy. He said the tests don't prove you are allergic just that you react to the food. He said you can also react to a food in the test but not by eating it. He said you might not recognize the symptom...

ARCHIVED Did You Know Someone With CeliacSusan123 replied to carriecraig's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease My friends son was in and out of hospitals until he was 2 years old. He was diagnosed with Celiac disease. I used to leave the hospital after visiting hours and say if I could just take that away from him so that he would be healthy. One year later I was diagnosed and one year after that they said he really didn't have it it was another autoimmune response...
