  1. It might take longer to see a reaction. It's taken awhile for me before.
  2. So you just throw it all in a blender? I don't have a food processor. And psawer, I absolutely agree. This place is a small family business that is having to compete with big stores and restaurant chains in the area. It's nuts to me that they would treat their customers like they could take them or leave them like this. In hindsight I feel very annoyed...
  3. For me it lasts a month. But I get Dh, not D. The initial stomach problems last 2-3 days. Then the DH continues to break out throughout the next month. Sucks. It's why I basically live in constant fear. And I NEVER eat out. Not worth it. I can't even enjoy the meal because of the fear.
  4. No theres no specialty stores like that around here. Just big ones like Wal Mart, Winco, etc.
  5. After awhile you will become so disgusted with gluten you won't crave it at all anymore, in fact the thought of it will make you cringe.
  6. I've been wanting to make hummus for years and have been to like 10 different grocery stores around here and not ONE of them has had Tahini! Where or whereeeee do you guys get it at?
  7. So I went to my local health restaurant/health food store the other day. The store is really good, it's a little grocery store and it's got tons of gluten free stuff from cake mix to pasta to pizza, etc. I get a lot of my stuff there. I was trying to see if they had any hummus, because the only hummus I've ever found at the grocery store, I had a reaction...
  8. I have some sort of weird reaction to red wine too. Sometimes but not always. I have noticed shiraz is not bad for me as well. It's not like being glutened though. I generally don't feel too bad from wine but if I drink a lot of it I get a faint sort of red rashlike reaction on my face. I don't drink it too often.
  9. Nope, I don't think it goes away. You could probably heal to the point where you wouldn't notice a drastic reaction from a chance encounter, but the problem with this type of thinking is it leads to cheating once, then again and a generally over relaxed attitude about gluten, which can lead you right back to being as sick as you once were. I would never...
  10. I used to do this to myself, off and on, all throughout the first maybe 3-4 months that I was "suspicous" I had celiac. My drug of choice was pizza. Because of the delayed reaction, I sometimes managed to convince myself that it wasn't harming me, but after a long long journey the damage gluten was doing to my body became abundantly clear and I had no choice...
  11. Yes, me too. I like the peppermint one. For moisterizer I use the stuff from acne.org mixed with grapeseed oil. It's amazing!
  12. Thanks everyone, I don't have a doctor because I have no medical insurance, I'm self diagnosed gluten sensitive. But long ago I did have a doctor and they did say Nsaids are bad for ulcers or stomach problems it's just nothing else works. I already excercise and take vitamins and stuff.
  13. I think pain pills really mess up my gut and cause leaky gut or for my food sensitivities to worsen. I get pain all before my period, I had it last night at like 3am so I woke up and thought I was getting my period and took 4 motrin IB (the ONLY thing that works for the pain and anything less than 4 doesn't help). Well then my period doesn't come (wtf, usually...
  14. Dairy can be harsh. I feel mildly uncomfortable if I ingest too much. I'm fine with small amounts though. It certainly is possible that this could be adding to your troubles but also I imagine you may be accidentally ingesting small amounts of gluten still. It took me a long time to start learning to be 100% free. There is gluten in so many things I had...
  15. Iodine therapy helped my bowels move much. It also helps thyroid, mood and many other things.
  16. I have the bloated stomach too. Although I don't always have it. It seems to be there some times and not others, I'm not sure what causes it.
  17. Hey! Wow so cool to see there are other gluten free veggies here! And oh my there is a forum and everything (I'm joining as we speak). It's funny, whenever I tell people about my gluten sensitivity they are like ohh that must be hard, you must totally live off of meat then right? And I just am like.. "Nope! I'm vegetarian" and am met with with something...
  18. I'm gaining weight too. I don't believe in doctors personally I'm all alterna-med and natural health based. I'm also self diagnosed. But anyways, I have had a lot of weight gain. I think it has to do with two things, one being, at least in my case I was very very hungry after first going gluten free. The body seems to really want food once the healing process...
  19. I know my body very well and I HAVE been glutened from Doritos, Cheetos, and plain Lays potato chips. I don't think it's the msg, although that is very bad for you too, because I've had msg other times and not been glutened from it. I won't eat any of these types of chips anymore, as I'm interested in healing my body but putting chemical filled artificial...
  20. That is pretty unsupportive, IMO. The people who care about me go out of their way to accomodate my needs. I would have left, if it was me. I don't care if anyone thinks that is an overreaction. You have a very very difficult physical condition. You react in whatever way you see fit, honey. Like I said, I would have left. There is no way in hell I'm sitting...
  21. It's still pretty new to me too. I should look back in my journal and see when I actually started this.
  22. I had a bit of a different experience than you because I am self diagnosed, and it took me a long time to really come to terms with the fact that I am gluten sensitive *possible coeliac, of course I wont know because I don't go to doctors*. But I am most definitely gluten sensitive and my lifetime struggle with some pretty horrific skin problems (not to mention...
  23. It takes time, I understand how hard it is. I agree that cross contamination is a big problem. It seems it can happen anywhere, with anything. For example, for awhile I was eating lays potato chips as technically they are Gluten-Free but I know they are made at the same facility. In the beginning, I thought "Oh come on, being made in the same facility can...
  24. lol no I dont binge. I haven't had a drink in maybe 6 months or so? And that was red wine but it was before I was really learning about being gluten free and still was being glutened by random things at the time, so I'm not sure the effect it had on me, you know? I mostly am thinking about having some bottles of wine around because I will be entertaining...
  25. Bad advice, IMO. I've been glutened from breathing in an invisible amount of flour that was in the air. I've been glutened from tiny bits of filler in pills. I've been glutened from microscopic amounts many many times. I have yet to go longer than a month without being accidentally glutened by something, but it's getting easier as I'm learning more and more...
