  1. I quit cigarettes a couple months ago. I've always been really sensitive to the way they effect me and for me, they always make my heart beat faster/stronger. Nicotene is a stimulant, it's not good for your heart, so it makes sense. I quit but I still smoke pot here and there, don't use rolling papers though as I also heard once they sometimes have wheat...
  2. Thanks for the replies.. what I'm trying to figure out is where it could possibly be in the tea? 100% pure yerba mate tea from south america. Gaaahhh.. where would the wheat be? I don't really think it's the tea only for the reason that I was already having issues before I drank it.. but I know by now that anything is possible when it comes to secret wheat...
  3. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I could just scream. I'm still being glutened somehow, and still getting fresh lesions on my skin and scalp. I've cut out all dairy and chocolate and pretty much EVERYTHING. I just don't know where it could be coming in. The only 3 new things I've added into my diet are a supplement (osteo-biflex joint care stuff, called the company...
  4. Yes, there is a device we all come equipped with, it's called WILLPOWER. Sorry to sound insensitive, but I don't understand glutening yourself on purpose. Perhaps your reactions are not as terrible as mine (like getting mildly ill not deathly ill) and in that case I could understand, because that is how I am with dairy products. Dairy isn't good for...
  5. *Runs toward you in slow motion with dramatic music playing* NOOOOOOOOOO! DOOOOOONNNN'T DOOOOO ITTTT! *cough* anyways, yes my point is, I agree with the others, it's definitely not okay to have ANY gluten. Thinking tiny amounts, such as that in soy sauce were acceptable (or prior to that, me not even being aware there was gluten in soy sauce...
  6. So true. A friend talking about gluten and her family's issues with it was what led to me discovering I was also intolerant. Thank God! I'd probably not be alive now otherwise.
  7. Personally I love when people ask questions, and I love answering them. I have no problem talking about myself. lol It's really a good thing, because the more awareness is spread, the better our lives get.
  8. Unfortunately there isn't, but it's okay, I couldn't afford it anyway. I will have to learn to live without the chocolate, at least for awhile. It's not like I haven't learned to live without millions of other things, I'm used to it I guess. True, it definitely is worse when I get glutened. SOmetimes its hard to know what's going on. Basically...
  9. Thanks for your reply. Sometimes I just need to vent and it helps a lot to be able to come here and talk to people I KNOW understand (as much as my friends and family sympathize with me, they don't fully get it) You might be right about the vinegar. Vinegar in general bothers me but I figured if the stuff said gluten free they must use vinegar from corn...
  10. This is probably just another pointless rant. But this past week, I've been glutened, seemingly multiple times. I am so confused. Something has changed. I eat pretty much the same diet. One of my products has to have changed. All I can think is maybe it's the Hershey's special dark chocolate chips I use. I am stupid for continuing using them, as I have...
  11. I don't know, I am wondering the same thing. I've been on the diet for years now, and when I get glutened, the reaction is mostly in my skin, in the form of big, painful and itching cysts all over my face and sometimes a rash on my body as well. Nothing I have ever found does anything to stop the reaction. The most I can do is put something anti bacterial...
  12. I look healthy if I am able to keep EVERYTHING that irritates me out of my diet. Yet there are times, like right now for example, when some unknown source of gluten seems to have gotten into my diet, and now I have a splattering of huge painful zits all over my face, my stomach is destended, I have gas all the time, and painful bloating, I'm depressed...
  13. LOL! I knew there was a way. Bwahaha I'm so out of it. Thanks! <3
  14. Sometimes when I look at the forum, the replies in the thread are listed as seperate links at the bottom. Other times, you can simply scroll down the page and read the replies. Why does it change? I don't like it with all the replies in links at the bottom, having to click the link just to read each reply and then go back over and over again trying to...
  15. I could definitely see how that could get annoying, but it's also sorta cool that people are wanting to know about it! No one asks me about it.
  16. Awesome, this is so good to know, thanks.
  17. I'm sorry I don't have too much info, all I know is I went on a cruise in 06 (before I knew about my celiac, but I was a vegetarian at the time) with Norweigen cruise lines, and they promised "vegetarian" options at every meal. I was extremely disappointed with the food, so much that I wrote letters afterwards. Their idea of vegetarian "options" was like...
  18. If people are going to be so non-understanding as that, then yes, I would just say "I'm sorry, but my health is important to me and yes, there is a danger of cross contamination in your kitchen, no offense." If they reacted badly to that, Id simply shrug it off and bring my own food next time. If they reacted badly to me bringing my own food, I wouldn...
  19. That is very strange indeed. I don't know, this doesn't really happen to me. Usually my family makes food I can eat and they understand my disease, because I spent plenty of time educating them lol. Also, I want that shirt! Where did you see it?
  20. Grr... he sounds like a whiny baby... no offense. I don't like picky eaters and can't really tolerate this sort of stuff (*especially when others are way picky when they have the OPTION of eating whatever they want-major pet peeve*) but anyways.. no offense to your guy or anything just in general, it's something that bothers me. why do you guys...
  21. Yeah, this happens to everyone I think. I was starving like a madperson for a long time after I first went on the diet. It got a little better after awhile, but whenever I get accidentally glutened I spend the next week eating massive amounts of food. My apetite is insane! I'm also only 120 pounds and 5'8'' so it's really weird. People are always amazed at...
  22. I broke out in a rash on my scalp from using a non-gluten free shampoo. I didn't get any of it in my mouth either, that was just from it touching my skin.
  23. I know, I wasn't mad, just sayin'.. it's not that simple as to not eat gluten and there can be a lot of issues which effect dating, at least there have been for me. That said I totally agree that being celiac or having whatever other health problems you have shouldn't stop you from living. Trust me I know, i just got back from an overseas backpacking...
  24. I think this post is quite unfair, I mean I understand what you are saying, but did you ever consider that some of us have a lot of serious health issue that effect our lives and it's not so simple as "just don't eat gluten". It wasn't like I went gluten free and my health was perfect, I still have a lot of issues and have to fight for my health every day...
