  1. Hi All! Just wanted to share my good news. Got my iron, B12 and folate results back today. Since taking gluten/dairy out of my diet, apparently I'm now able to absorb supplements. Yay! Not having to take the PPIs for reflux anymore is probably helping a lot too. My ferritin's at 40 (up from 28 in July), B12's at 911, and folate's at 19.2. Woot! ...
  2. Been giving this some thought for a little while. These aren't so much resolutions/goals as wishes for the upcoming year. 1. Quit smoking - for good this time. 2. Finally get a dx for all this various health stuff. 3. Get better quality doctors who actually care about their patients and take them seriously. (will probably have an easier time...
  3. It's the CVS house brand. I know, not the greatest - not even close, but its what I have on hand. Like I said, el-cheapo.
  4. Out of idle curiosity, does anybody else get this? When I take probiotics, they go through me.. well, like a dose of salts. An hour later and "woosh!". I'm just taking el-cheapo acidophilus, nothing fancy.
  5. You might also try switching to white rice instead of the brown rice. I had problems with brown rice (stomach cramping) but don't have that problem since I've switched.
  6. Thank you so much for posting this! I've been going through tortilla withdrawl for the past 3 months. It hasn't been pretty. Soft tacos here I come!
  7. Hi Gang! Thanks for the well wishes on the appt today. Well..... I'm still mulling the whole thing over. Feel kinda like I got hit by a south-bound bus. Would have preferred several bicycles and a wheelbarrow, but whatcha gonna do? Of course, today I have a fever and aches and my glands are swollen. Probably coming down with something. Anyway...
  8. She's one of the gals that sends lists of LLMDs in PMs to folks posting on the "searching for drs" board on LN. Guess she's been around for awhile - her member number is below 100.
  9. Thank you. Hubby thinks I'm obsessing and is afraid its going to make me nuts-er. Yeah, I am obsessing (kinda). I want to find out why I feel like this and the drs I've been seeing haven't been any help. My mom thinks I'm a hypochondriac. My friends have pretty much decided that they don't want to hear it (except for one who works for the local health...
  10. He's an LLMD. Works out of a tick-borne disease clinic. And it wasn't just the folks on LN that were saying these things about him. That's what got me wondering in the first place. Guess I'm just overly nervous and sensitive right now. Any little bit of doubt is eating at me. Probably doesn't help that hubby now thinks I'm taking all this a bit...
  11. Apparently he uses a lab in New Jersey, dunno the name of it. From what I've read, he doesn't like Igenex because "everyone always has positive test results" with them. Nobody has said anything about oral abx. Honestly, I don't know what to do.
  12. Nerves!!!!! Of course, I can't leave well enough alone and started checking up on the LLMD I'm seeing tomorrow. Was surfing other message boards to see what patients thought about him. Hrm.... Apparently, he not only doesn't use Igenex labs, but doesn't treat co-infections. He also makes his patients do any abx IVs in his office, rather than...
  13. Andrea, Love the new pic! They're beautiful!
  14. Carla, How's the cold coming along? Feel any better? Donna, Maybe tonight's the night you'll get some sleep? Everyone, Have a great, and safe, holiday! My side of the family had our annual gorge fest and gift exchange on Saturday. It was the first since the majority of my health stuff started popping up. My brother was an ass, of...
  15. I was actually surprised that my feet didn't hurt. When I worked at the florist's shop, I developed plantars fasciitis. It was agonizing! It cleared up once I stopped being on my feet all day. I do have a sort of generalized body ache, but its not really pain, its just sort of there if that makes any sense. Its kind of funny but not... by the time hubby...
  16. Yeah, I'm miffed about it too. I took some time and posted all of my blood tests in a spreadsheet so I could get an overall look. There doesn't seem to be anything glaringly wrong, but I did notice a few things. Like my AST and ALT are at about half of what they were a year ago. My BUN is low. And while my WBC count has been fine, there's been a gradual...
  17. Thanks Donna! And I understand the brain fog. That's why I'm making a list of questions to ask now. Figured I'd do this while I remember. That way I'm not sitting there with a blank look on my face at the appt. Its happened before. I'm also a reflective thinker, not a reactive one. Usually takes me about 3 days after a drs appt for it to all...
  18. Manda, What a wonderful present that little girl is to your whole family! Wow! Just wow! I'm almost kinda sort of ready. I think. Did some ubershopping yesterday and have a little bit more to go today. Tomorrow is wrapping day. My side of the family is having our get-together on Saturday, in Camp Hill! I'll wave as I pass the Hershey exit...
  19. Jin, Had to giggle about your waiting to find out you're adopted. Reminded me of a friend's mantra: notmyplanet, notmyplanet, notmyplanet. If you're feeling better when you add salt to your diet, then your aldosterone's probably low. Its an adrenal hormone that regulates the sodium/potassium balance in your body. A lot of folks I've talked to...
  20. She didn't say anything about it. I pointed it out to her and it seemed to be a non-issue. She was more concerned about the chronic abdominal pain, thinks its dysbiosis (localized in one spot? ummm... ok), and ordered a stool test for bacteria and parasites. We only had a 1/2 hour to go over everything and it was a new patient appt, so we were really pressed...
  21. Offthegrid, Congrats! Wow! That's fabulous!
  22. Jin, I love reading your article. You always catch things that I miss and have a great point of view, and a positive attitude. Don't want to ask how long it takes you to type all that. I already know I have adrenal issues. Problem is they're not being treated. My current doc doesn't think its bad enough to do anything about because the report...
  23. Got a question for you... I have my first appt with an LLMD on the 28th. So, what kind of questions should I ask him? I really don't know enough about Lyme, co-infections, or treatment at this point to ask an intelligent question about any of them. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  24. She ordered ferritin and D, which haven't been tested since July. She also ordered DHEAs and Total and Free Testosterone, since my old doc kinda "forgot" those when he ordered the other hormone testing in October. She's re-doing the LH and FSH, along with serum cortisol. And she decided to test my B12. Kinda miffed about that last one. When I asked...
  25. *channeling my inner cynic* Yeah, that makes sense.
