ARCHIVED Synthroid Versus Levothyroxin
cynicaltomorrow replied to wowzer's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I take Levothyroxine. Not sure what brand or whatever. But I've never had a problem with it. -
ARCHIVED 5 Hour Energy
cynicaltomorrow replied to njbeachbum's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You can typically find it at the counter of most convenience stores. I think Walgreen's carries it too. -
ARCHIVED New Grist Beer Tested Positive For Gluten
cynicaltomorrow replied to dilettantesteph's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've never had a reaction.. but I can't stand New Grist. The bitterness is too much. Just like Redbridge. If you want a good gluten-free beer, try Green's from Belgium. They're made with sorghum, millet, buckwheat and rice, I think. No bitterness! -
ARCHIVED 5 Hour Energy
cynicaltomorrow replied to njbeachbum's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I LOVE 5 hour energy. Since I've gone gluten-free, I can't tolerate caffeine very well. So, I stay clear of the conventional energy drinks. 5 hour gives you way better wings than Red Bull!! Plus, the berry kind is delicious. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Restauarnts In Tampa, Fl Or North Nj
cynicaltomorrow replied to gfgirlie's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
You should check out Leeroy Selmon's. I visited Tampa a couple weeks go and had a great meal there! They have a gluten-free menu with plenty on it. It's my understanding they're owned/operated by the Outback ppl. -
ARCHIVED Cheesecake Factory
cynicaltomorrow replied to savvvyseller's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Are you sure? I've had the Godiva one a couple times now without a bad reaction. -
ARCHIVED Delicious N Fit
cynicaltomorrow replied to TrillumHunter's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I have to say I was quite disappointed with Delicious N Fit. They're menu items were lacking much flavor. I definitely make better food at home. -
I used to always get gluten-free chicken fried rice when eating at PF Changs. There is something about the beef where it is not gluten-free. I have since discovered Changs chicken.. and that is where my heart lies.
-
I have heard that their meat seasoning contains gluten. I eat there about once a week usually though... I get crispy chicken tacos or chicken nacho salad w/o chili sauce. I know it doesn't necessarily mean I'm not getting glutened, but I haven't gotten gluten-sick from there.. and I'm pretty sensitive. ::shrug::

ARCHIVED Be Careful At Pf Chang's!
cynicaltomorrow replied to cynicaltomorrow's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
She brought me new wraps. I didn't notice any difference in the rice crispy noodles, but the gluten-free chicken was definitely lighter. The gluteny ones were fairly dark and saucy.. but the new ones weren't. I thought it looked a little too soy saucy. But, like I said, luckily they caught it and it wasn't enough to make me sick. I enjoyed the rest of my... -
Went to PF Chang's tonight. Hadn't been there in forever. My friend and I started with the chicken lettuce wraps. About half-way through my first wrap, our waitress comes out and says "I hate to do this to you guys.. but those aren't gluten-free." Luckily it wasn't enough to make me feel sick. But just thought I'd throw the warning out there. And, at least...

Well, I would never recommend unverified restaurant food to anyone. I was simply sharing my own experience. I trust that people can make up their own minds.

I'm not sure what's technically gluten-free. But, Bueno's my favorite fast food place and I never get glutened. I regularly get cheese nachos, crispy chicken tacos, chicken mucho nachos and chicken nacho salad. I always make sure not to get chili sauce... I don't like it but it also seems a likely gluten candidate. Just stay away from the obvious... soft...

I have yet to have a problem with sushi. I get various kinds of rolls and make sure there is no soy sauce or tempura in it. Everything has been a-okay... and I'm lovin it! haha..

ARCHIVED Kentucky Fried Chicken Update
cynicaltomorrow replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Since when does KFC coleslaw contain gluten? I eat it everytime I go there and have never gotten sick. I also get mashed potatoes with no gravy... as well as a tender roast sandwich/wrap without the bun/wrap. As far as the corn on the cob goes... I used to work at KFC back in the day... and they have a separate little cooker for it. No worries. -
I eat at Sonic regularly and have never had any problems. I've eaten the chicken salad, cheese tots, fries, burgers w/ no bun, and coneys with no bread or chili. But... maybe it's just me!
-
I always get cheese tots from Sonic with no problem. Just definitely steer clear of the chili.
-
Aside from their delicious queso.... I would steer clear of Qdoba's. I had my first case of "glutening" in over a year thanks to them. I got the steak nachoes... and I'm pretty sure that they must have had soy sauce on the steak. I regretted that decision for the next few hours.

ARCHIVED To All Of You Who Are Still Sick Despite Being gluten-free
cynicaltomorrow replied to danikali's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
i would definitely not recommend SCD. I was really excited when I first heard about the possibility of being able to eat normally again. I should've just stuck to being gluten-free. I was on SCD for 7 months... ending last June. I am still SO sick and have had to have more visits with my gastroenterologist than ever before. I only started getting sick after... -
ARCHIVED Food Allergies & Intestinal Healing
cynicaltomorrow replied to Emme999's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I know there are a lot of people out there who have success with the SCD, but I was on it for about 7 months and wish I never started the damn thing. I now get bloated everytime I eat ANYthing. I'm afraid this diet caused much more damage than good... and think perhaps it intensified some underlying IBS or something. I'm now thinking about going to the doctor... -
Some other restaurants I ate at while I was there last week were Village Inn, West End Tavern (Boulder), and Hacienda (in Englewood). Hacienda was very friendly and knowledgable.
-
Probably if you're looking for the healing aspect, you probably shouldn't cheat... unless you plan on regressing a little. I'm sure you can do it. I'm going to Denver next month and plan on sticking to the diet... not that I really have a choice. I'm sure if I were to eat anything not on the diet, I'd be in pretty bad shape. Of course, if I could go back...

When I make pizza, I grate a zucchini and throw it in the food processor, and then mix it with almond flour. I add basil, parsley, oregano, baking soda... maybe some oil or water, depending on how well the "dough" is sticking together. Then, I throw it in the oven while it preheats and then for a few additional minutes. I take it out and drizzle some olive...

Just be careful. I know that one of the times that I had to start over... I didn't start feeling sick until a week or two after I started eating the things that ended up making me sick. I actually don't feel any better than when I started. But, on the other hand, I didn't feel too bad when I started, since I'd already been gluten-free for like 7 months. I...

Have you introduced any new foods within the past few weeks? I think it's probably all the fruits and veggies, but I am bloated like all the time. Except when I wake up in the morning... then I look pretty skinny. But, I look pregnant by the time I go to bed! I know it's not a bad reaction to anything, because I've had bad bloating reactions. I think it...
