ARCHIVED Potential Great News For Fellow Type Ones....

That's really neat Mlee. Sure sounds like it might work out. I kind of wonder how safe the intestines are from autoimmune attack though. They may be under a misapprehension there. "The location of the cells in the gut may also prevent the diabetes from destroying the new insulin-producing cells, since the gastrointestinal tract is partly protected... -

GFinDC replied to Coolclimates's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
It might help to make sure you eat some protein with every meal. And then wait a while before eating any dessert. The "I am full" signal from our tummies can take a little bit to get going. You could also check your blood glucose, to be sure something isn't going on there. -

Darn it, I missed the lunch thread. The what's for lunch thread.. Bubba's Mom is right, the lactose sugar in cow's milk is often a problem for people at first. Basically it is lactose intolerance, which can cause bloating, D, gas. And it can go away, although it doesn't go away for all people. 3 days is good start. Pretty soon it will be... -

Welcome back Loey! Those darn fences get in the way on purpose I think. They are very attention seeking inanimate objects. A couple of them have lured my cars in the past, so I know the way they are. Congrats on the recovery, we are rotting for you1 -

I haven't tried accupuncture. I know some people seem to like it though. I have had balance problems at times. I am not sure if it is from fatigue or something else though. There is plenty to learn, that for sure. That's one reason I think it is better to start with a whole foods diet and avoid processed foods. The labels on whole foods are very... -
Hmm, still grouchy about that eh? Well, the one link is members only area, but the other one is not. So you should be able to read it, I think. It does show the hyperlinked keywords in the post. The ideas simple, but I am not sure how they do it. They have a Wiki of articles and somehow auto link to those Wiki articles and definitions. Of course...

Hi Bob, Time to heal is quite variable, and recovery can be an up and down process. Some things that may help are: Stick to whole foods Avoid processed foods. Avoid sugar Avoid dairy and soy. Avoid cc (cross contamination) Check every label even vitamins and medicines. Take proboitics Try some Betaine HCL a couple times a week before... -
Hello dear people with unlimited time and technical know how, (if you are still reading congratulations, it must be great!) The link below is to a thread on the Crohn's forum,, where they have recently started a new system of automatically hyperlinking keywords in posts to articles or further info threads. Seems like a neat idea and very handy...

Hi, Stomach pain could be caused by H.Pylori also. Might be something to ask the doc about. You could also try an elimination diet, and a whole foods only diet. Many of us have additional food intolerances, and they can cause plenty of symptoms. There is also the possibility of reacting to very low levels of gluten in gluten-free foods, or...

ARCHIVED Elemental Diet Suggestions?
GFinDC replied to Syl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I don't know much about Lyme but I think it takes while on antibiotics to get rid of it. There are threads on this board you can read about Lyme. Maybe you should check out the Crohn's forum for elemental ideas. There are several threads there about elemental diets. Open Original Shared Link -

GFinDC replied to kaki-clam's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You can go gluten-free and stay with it. listening to your uncooperative side telling you negative things about your will power is not helpful to you. Instead tell your self the opposite, that you can do it just like many thousands of people do it. You are in control of this, not your cravings. After you stick with the gluten-free diet a while the... -
I think I saw a study about not giving children under 2 years old gluten. Seems like it said that more reactions were likely to occur in kids if they ate wheat before the age of two. Anybody remember that study? Anyhow, if my memory is right, which it sometimes is, (occasionally) that could be a good reason to not give them gluten until they are 2 years...

Hi Caroline, The idea of pulse testing for food intolerances is something I am not so sure about. I think an elimination diet is a better way to go. My thinking is that pulse testing may not be 100% reliable, as most tests are not 100% reliable after all. There are so many different symptoms that people can get with food intolerances, that I am not... -

GFinDC replied to Mom2Will's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Muffin the cat head is also on gluten-free food. She used to throw up regularly when eating regular food. But now she hardly ever does, except when she eats mice. And this is another bulleted point. And I have no idea why my post is full of bulleted points. They look kinda cool though. Think I'll keep going for a while. Getting tired yet? Ok, that's enuff... -

ARCHIVED Crock Pot Contamination

Or feed the hamster to the cat. Kidding. Agree with all said. The food shouldn't be a problem if he isn't getting it in his mouth or nose somehow. Pets do to tend to spread their food around though, so handwashing is a must. Cats are probably the worst for spreading gluten around. They are very friendly and like to lick people after eating... -

***start IMHO*** Well here comes a big IHMO paragraph then. IMHO IMHO IHMO. I don't know about migraines and what causes them. I do remember reading something about licorice maybe helping them quite a few years ago. But I have never been a headache kind of person, having not had many. However I have had symptoms of reduced blood flow to my thinker... -

I wonder more about the fish and possible contamination. I wonder if any testing is being done on Alaskan fisheries. The currents can carry things along ways.
