  1. First of all, my symptoms werent as bad as yours. I had been off wheat and dairy as a baby, due to bad D, so I decided to quit them hoping i'd feel better. Eventually I had three kinds of testing, celiac test, regular allergy testing for foods, and a sensitivity test (I did the A.L.C.A.T test, a lot of ppl here recomend the enterolab test). My celiac...
  2. I think it was someone on this forum who said, if you tell people, well I have a sensitivity to gluten and an allergy to this and that but the test was inconclusive and blah blah blah . . . you lose people or they think your a hypocondriac. If you just say 'celiac' either they understand ur restrictions or, if they dont, they still will believe its real...
  3. I'm not sure i have celiac, due to negative bloodwork, but I do have tons of food allergies and sensitivities. I am currently on a very restrictive diet, eating about 22 foods. I've been feeling pretty darn good, with only occasional slight symptoms, and generally I can find a cause. Well, the other day I made pasta for dinner for the family - actually...
  4. BTW, a long, long time ago I was a cook at a pizza hut. We had an order for a cheese-free pizza - i was flabergasted, but my boss said that it happens occasionally, some people are allergic to cheese or just dont like to eat it. He put the sauce on, and toppings, and baked it - so chances are, you could have had that, too.
  5. I started by dropping wheat and milk, because I was 'allergic' to them from food challenge as an infant. I felt better, but not right. I then did the celiac test, A.L.C.A.T sensitivity test (like the eliza) and regular allergy testing from a local doctor who specailizes in food allergies. The celiac was negative, but I reacted to over 1/3 of the A.L.C...
  6. When I quit gluten and dairy, I felt dizzy for over a week. My boys tend to get really mean and grumpy when they are in pain or feeling sick (they dont seem to realize they are in pain, they just get mean), so theres a good chance this is a withdrawal. And yes, other folks on this site have said it made them cranky
  7. I have used the glutino egg-type noodles in soup, i thought they were as good if not better then what i usually used - they keep their texture very nicely and taste great!
  8. I'm sorry you were having such a bad day!! I've been sorely tempted to eat a piece of pizza or a piece of chocolate (i'm currently only eating 20 foods, trying to introduce other foods one at a time, but i keep reacting ...). I've lived in this house for 4 years and I still have a few boxes - most, but not all, in the attic of course lol. My kids are...
  9. And dh means gluten free soaps and lotions, too

    ARCHIVED Rant Concerning Drs

Not that I dont totally appreciate your rant, but my celiac panel came back negative, but my regular allergy testing came back positive for wheat, barley and malt, and milk. Well, and every meat and carrots and garlic and . ..oh, nevermind. I'm eating 20 foods and I swear trying to introduce cukes and lemon juice gave me symptoms. But the point is, its...
  11. I will actually keep red robin in mind, too - there's one near me and there was always a big line and i always wondered what the big deal was. I've never liked Applebees, so having a good excuse to stay away from there would make me happy! I have to say i'm not having too much trouble staying on my current, very restrictive diet (I introduced cukes 2...
  12. About running hands thru flour . . .that sounds really pleasant to me. I used to do that. I think her point was more that its not sanitary, but I'm not sure. In response to the post about Applebees - I cooked in Denny's for a while, and I strongly suspect most chain family restaraunts are the same - all the food arrives frozen or canned. This isnt a...
  13. I went to an allergist who specailizes in food allergies. He started with the skin pricks, and then did intradermal for anything I scored a 0 or 1 on the skin pricks. The way they explained it is the skin prick is a very small amount of the allergen, so if you react a lot to that, they dont want to inject any in you - but not reacting to the scratch itself...
  14. Ok, I'll bite: I used to make a quick tomato soup with quesidillas all the time. The soup is just 2 cans stewed tomatoes (low salt) pureed in the blender, then I throw in a pinch of baking soda to neutralize the acid, then thyme, pepper, bullion, honey, sugar and about 2 c milk. After its cooked about 10-15 min, to blend flavors, I mix some corn starch...
  15. Just wondering if you might want to do regular allergy testing, too, for food allergy? I thought I might have celiac, but I showed up allergic to wheat, milk, barley and malt .. . it was just regular allergy, kinda strange. I also did the A.L.C.A.T test, which is a blood test which tests for food sensitivities, but uses a different method than the enterolabs...
  16. Ok, not actualy celiac and not a great memory, but nothing would suprise me in late pregnancy. I once read something in a pregnancy support board, something along the lines of - doctor, I'm nauseous! Dont worry, thats perfectly normal in this stage of pregnancy. Doctor, I cant sleep. Dont worry, thats perfectly normal in this stage of pregnancy. Doctor...
  17. It turns out I have tons of allergies and intolerances, and after doing a lot of testing, i'm on an elimination diet eating only 20 foods right now. Since i'm really clean, I'm noticing things more easily. So far I've reacted three times (its been 8 days). First, I had some potato chips (for 2 days - this was a little delayed) and my intestines were upset...
  18. I quit gluten and dairy, and felt better for a few weeks, but then still kept getting instestinal distress. I did some testing - reacted to 1/3 of the 150 food A.L.C.A.T test panel, and of the 46 foods tested at the allergist, only 10 had no reaction. He suggested I eat foods which had a +1 reaction as well as a 0 reaction, but I'm only eating them if they...
  19. My son has an iep due to emotional difficulties, so I dont really know much about a 504, but I can tell you, getting an IEP was a total fight - the school kept saying that if his disability didnt get in the way of his education, they were not obligated to give him any specail treatment. Finally he failed out of the gifted program, and they agreed to help...
  20. Dropping gluten and dairy gave me a challenge and that was fun. Even having to learn to avoid tapioca was interesting. But then I went thru testing, both A.L.C.A.T and regular allergy testing. This week I am on an elmination diet which leaves me only 20 foods I can eat, and the only protien is soy. Well, today (day 5) I added in sunflower seeds, because...
  21. I believe english is not ruyhwong's first language, and he was just expressing that he liked flax seed oil . ..
  22. Yeah, I was going to say, i thought I might be celiac, but when I went to get allergy testing, I reacted to wheat, barley, malt and yeast. Well, I actually reacted to all but about 6 foods he tested me for .. . i'm on a great elimination diet right now, I'm eating the 18 foods I think are safest . .. . but i'm still having trouble breathing ...
  23. Even tho I never had them, all my kids have had varying degrees of 'growing pains.' My daughter would wake in the night with pains in her legs. It was the muscles, and massage and heating pad would cure it. my first son's pains were in his tendons. Only ibuprofen fixed that. He also had ongoing pain in his legs during the day, and it got worse and worse...
  24. I tested negative for celiac, but tested allergic at the regular allergist to wheat, barley and malt . . .no wonder the gluten-free diet helped so much You could try eating barley . . .or yeah, just try the beer lol.
  25. Well, I"m starting to think i might not have celiac. First, I quit wheat and milk because they caused problems when I was an infant. I felt much better very quickly, and kept getting better. The more I learned about celiac, the more I thought that might be it, so I also quit barley, malt, etc. My A.L.C.A.T test showed sensitivities to gluten and...
