  1. I think it's wonderful that your doctor is intelligent enough to not put you through anymore testing after your self imposed gluten challenge. I too tested negative and my doctor just last week was willing to say based on my horrible symptoms after accidental glutening and the positive impact that gluten free has had on me that "yes" I have it and no further...
  2. I have mentioned before that my husband and I own restaurants. My husband is also the local restaurant association president so we see alot of kitchens. Alot of steak houses will spray the steaks so they won't stick to the grill with a restaurant supply source that is like Pam but some also use the bakers joy (contains wheat). Not trying to scare anyone...
  3. I just recently bought the burt's bee's day moisturizer and really like it. It's gluten free but most importantly not greasy. The night cream sample seemed too greasy so I am using the Dove sensitive skin night cream. Dove is also one that is gluten free or will tell if you not. The burt's bee's is around 13.00 in colorado so not badly priced.
  4. oops! realized I couldn't say where I ordered after posting. You will find good deals for it by just doing a search for breadman pro. Good luck on whatever you decide.
  5. I am in love with my new Breadman Pro (model TR875). It has a gluten free cycle and makes 1.5 and 2lb breads. The gluten free cycle only mades the 1.5 size but when I make Pamela's bread (love it!) I use the regular cycle (suggested on the package) and makes a wonderful 2lb loaf. I ordered from Lame Advertisement and got free shipping. It does have only...
  6. How long have you been gluten free? During my first month of being gluten free, I could not tolerate multivitamins that were in the tablet form, I did the chewable type and liquid B. You could try a liquid muliti (centrum's is gluten free and I'm sure there are others) until you heal longer. I am able to take the pill form now. I hope you get to feeling...
  7. Deb, I would'nt worry so much since you say you feel great. You are now eating healthier for your body. Before I went gluten free back in December I had lost 8 pounds from all the "D". Now almost 3 months later I have only gained 4 lbs back but feel great. I am 5''4 and weigh 134 lbs which as you said is not super low but I feel great. I wouldn...
  8. Thank you for listing the ingredients, my husband threw away the whole box the next morning. My bet is the "flavors". I haven't had any vomiting symptoms before with gluten mostly "D" so my feelings is that there must have been a good amount of gluten in these generic lactaids to set us off. Yes, you are more sensitive after stopping gluten. I used to...
  9. . I did not want my Doctor thinking I was being a hypochondriac. Luckily he did not. He took one look at me and said I was Gluten Intolerant. Welcome to the board! Sounds like you have a very smart doctor, your very lucky!
  10. The skin prick test can only pick up allergies not intolerances. I also had 0 allergies from the skin test but do have intolerances to gluten, shellfish, strawberries, pineapple, and other citrus. A blood test can pick up intolerances. Stay with your diet and listen to your body it is the best indicator of what is bothering you.
  11. This is what I do as well. I also add a tablespoon of molasses for a richer color and flavor.
  12. sounds wonderful I will definately try it!
  13. Please don't give up yet. For me it took 6 weeks to really start noticing more energy again. I remember reading somewhere (I read everything I can on Celiac, gluten intolerance etc.) that you should give it a least a 2 month try especially since when your new you make alot of little mistakes (some you may not know about) and that can set you back again...
  14. I would definately give your doc a call but also relax. I used to get bloody diarrhea when I was younger and was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis along with my ibs. I don't get diarrhea anymore as long as I stay gluten free. Give the diet a chance, it take some months to a year to heal but as long as your careful with cross contamination etc. you will...
  15. I agree, Danna Korn explains things very simply and also with tasteful humor that makes it easy for anyone to understand. She also has some good simple recipes listed that your mom could make such as super easy peanut butter cookies etc.
  16. So he finally gave me the blood test, and it came back negative. Now he says there is "no chance" I have it, based only on that, and the fact that he insists that if I had celiac, I'd be losing weight rapidly and anemic. I actually put in a complaint to my insurance company about him and changed doctors. I hope someone learns something out of all this, because...
  17. It all depends on how much gluten I've had. If its a little cross contamination I get bad gas and stomach cramping about two hours later. If I accidently ingest quite a bit of gluten (when I accidently took a generic brand medication that had gluten) I am vomiting within 3 hours. Not pretty.
  18. welcome to the board! I am glad you are staying with the diet. IMO the diet is the best diagnostic tool when other tests are questionable. I am also enjoying the one trip a day to bathroom kathy
  19. A week ago Tuesday was my daughters 17 birthday. She wanted culver's frozen custard to go with her cake and we bought vanilla knowing it was gluten free for me. I've only been gluten free since January 4th and feeling pretty good but watching the dairy since I've read it would be a good idea to not have any at first. Anyway, I bought generic lactaid from...

    ARCHIVED Idiot!

I own two restaurants, one fine dining and the other a family casual restaurant. Both are very popular restaurants in our area. I would have no problem with someone wanting to bring in their own food if they are uncomfortable because of dietary restrictions and know of no problems with my insurance if they do so. I would think the manager wants the 30...
  21. Thanks to all that replied. I was on a gluten free diet for 5 days prior to test but before that gluten light because I always know if I eat too much bread etc I feel sick. The day before my tests I splurged heavy on gluten but maybe that still wasn't enough. I will go along with Ravenwood and just realize that whatever it is, my body doesn't like gluten...
  22. Hello everyone. This is only my second post, I am mostly reading and learning. This is a great board! Anyway, I was told a couple weeks ago over the phone that my celiac panel came back negative. I was a little bummed because I thought for sure that I found my answer but I have still stayed with the diet except for 1 cheat day. I was feeling very low...
  23. Hi everyone I am 42 years old and was diagnosed as spastic colon in my early twentys. I've had symptoms come and go all my life mainly diarreah, mouth sores, psoriasis, and mild joint pain. Last November and December were terrible for me. Diarreah every morning, mouth sores, and muscle cramps in my calves and feet. My hubby and I own two restaurants...
