  1. I finally pin pointer what I was feeling sick from still (tapioca flour/starch) and stopped eating things that contained it and felt sooooo much better. It was almost like I was eating gluten but at times worst. The only thing that is bad is that pretty much all gluten free recipies and alot of really good gluten free foods have tapioca in them When...
  2. Planters is a Kraft product -- can you buy this brand in Greece? I spoke with one of their reps on the phone the other month and she said if wheat/gluten is present will be noted in the ingredients. Also if the factory lines are shared with other things will also note that (I mainly just see other tree nuts by the ingredients). I have had very little...
  3. I use Chicken of the Sea, Bumble Bee and StarKist. Most of the time StarKist. You can also check out their websites (some flavors are not safe) I get the ones that are in water not oil. I don't care to use mayo so I use gluten free cottage cheese instead.
  4. In our household it is just my husband and I (and two dogs haha).... If it is more of a fend for yourself night I'll make things such as (we still always eat together but just make our own things): *Thai Kitchen Rice Noodles with EVOO, Italian Seasoning, Pepper and Parmesean Cheese *Ancient Harvest Spaghetti Noodles with Classico Sauce and Mixed Vegetables...
  5. *Are there any vegetables your son likes? You can do rice with some type of vegie or mix. *Since he likes french fries what about: Mashed or baked potatoes. Twice baked potatoes those are good and different. Home made french fries or just cut up potatoes in the oven with EVOO on it. *Beans i.e. Bush Beans? *Fruit Salad *Gluten Free...
  6. Here is a site someone posted for me on one of my posts about Tapioca and what to sub with. Open Original Shared Link I bought some arrowroot but have not gotten to try it out yet. Not sure about soy substituting though, but I am sure someone will comment about that. Welcome to the site
  7. I have seen coupons in the Enjoy Life packages and also at our local Smith's (same as Kroger and Ralphs) at the register I have gotten Vans Waffle coupons (where it prints out the coupon if you buy that item or something similar). I am not sure about the main stream coupons you get in your newspaper but I think eventually you will start to see them more...
  8. I get The Gluten Free Pantry White Sandwich Bread Mix. It is really easy takes 5-10minutes to prepare then 30-40 minutes to rise (I set it the stove area) and 30 minutes in the oven (while it is rising I pre-heat the oven and make french fries haha). You let it cool on a rack and then slice and freeze (or you can refrigerator if you are going to eat it...
  9. I buy the Mi-Del Ginger snaps as well so far I haven't had any problems. They are a little strong tasting for me so I only eat about 1-2 at a time. That brand also makes Arrowroot Cookies-Animal Cookies and they are REALLY good. The first bag I got I told my husband who doesn't like to try my gluten free foods to try it and I was all excited b/c it tasted...
  10. I haven't bought the brownie mix yet but a lot of people rave about The Gluten Free Pantry brand brownie mix. I have tried some of their other mixes and they are easy and turn out good. Chips -- I like Mission white corn tortilla chips (haven't have any problems with them). I also buy their white corn tortialls and white corn taco shells. I personally...
  11. Healing is different for each person. I remember my husband telling me when I first started being gluten free (this year) that I was almost worst then before going gluten free (this did improve though after a while). Your body is healing and adjusting to the changes. I had a really sore back for the first month and my muscles just ached so bad. I think...
  12. There are a lot of products that do not have any gluten in them but they do not say gluten free on the packaging. So yes, some products that do not say gluten free but in the ingredients there are no gluten items then you can eat it. Some companies are starting to put gluten free by the ingredients so that is neat. Some items you might still want to call...
  13. I think it is great too that restaurants are now posting gluten free food items on their sites. I have looked at Chili's list so many times but have not made it in the restaurant yet... I have called and spoken to one of the managers about what to do whenever we do decide to go eat there, so that was nice and a 1st step. Pretty much what we talked...
  14. I am learning more and more cooking terms everyday -- so neat I had to look up custard dishes on the pyrex site to see what they were -- SURPRISE I have those to haha. I never knew what they were called b/c I got them with a pyrex set when I got married. We use them bbq sauce when cooking or some salsa with chips. Now I can try them out for rolls sometime...
  15. Thank you Purple for the recipezaar#180306 receipe. I read some of the reviews and it looks like a good bread recipe to try. It was nice to read that it will freeze nicely since I would be the main one eating it haha. Thanks again. My goodness I feel kind of dumb... I cannot believe I have never seen a french bread pan. I thought it was similar...
  16. Seems like majority make sandwich "roll's" in small cake pans... Due to gluten free dough not really wanting to stay still I guess you can say while baking, do you recommend just making the cake pan type sandwich rolls rather then spending time trying to make a long sub type bread roll on a cookie sheet (like a 6" long roll rather then a circle one)? ...
  17. Thank you VioletBlue for the reply. I haven't tried using bread dough for anything other than bread in a bread pan so the info about it not always holding its shape on a cookie sheet helps for when I make mine this weekend I am bummed b/c I can't have Chebe...it has Tapioca Flour/Starch in it, tried it in the past before I knew I was reacting to Tapioca...
  18. I would not consume anything that had wheat grass or barley grass in it. For example Naked Fruit Juice they are gluten free BUT NOT the Green Machine reason being it has wheat grass in it. I am sure someone else will reply with more info
  19. I am shocked that the dr or someone did not call or mail some form of a note or results to you in the mail. But on the other hand if I were in the situation I would have called the dr's office and asked if the test results came in if I didn't hear back in a about a month. A lot of dr locations have a medical records dept and you can also go their and...
  20. Does the new ingredient, Wheat Dextrin, have any ill effects on people who experience wheat allergies or wheat intolerance? Benefiber
  21. My husband and I make our own breakfast and lunch. In regards to dinner we either make our own meals or we make a gluten free meal -- this is usually figured out by how busy that day is. Stuff that I buy at the health food store are normally 1 bag of pretzels which lasts me about a month or more and couple bags of animal cookies that each last 2-3weeks...
  22. Dumb question.... I have parchment paper but have never used it before.... So you just put it under the dough and put in the oven? ha sorry strange questions Do you still spray the baking sheet with pam or the parchment paper? Oh... that is such a good idea, I never thought about that. Thank you so much Thank you to both of you for...
  23. I use Nature Made as well. I buy mine at WalMart and if I need a certain vitmain that I cannot find in that brand I get Spring Valley that WalMart also carries. GOOD LUCK
  24. I was at Sam's club over the weekend and they had deli meat by Oscar Mayer -- to make sub sandwiches is how they advertise it. It reminds me of Subway b/c of the meat being on the paper and you flip it onto your bread I am wanting to make a sub sandwich type bread now but it seems like all of the bread recipies I have want you to use bread pans. ...
  25. I get this cereal too at WalMart once in a while. It is very good and inexpensive. Make sure you look at the ingredients each time you buy it to make sure they do not change ingredients. Since it is not labeled gluten free you can get a box occasionally that may be cc, I had this happen with the Dora the Explorer one.
