  1. I would call and check on the KC Masterpiece BBQ Sauce that you are using. Last year when I first went gluten free my husband and I bought a couple BBQ Sauces that looked safe and then I called them and was told that Jack Daniels was not safe and that KC Materpiece (we had the original if I am remembering right) were not gluten free. Maybe things changed...
  2. *Uncle Ben's Fast and Natural Whole Grain Instant Brown Rice -- really good and gluten free (also says gluten free on the back of the box) *Thai Kitchen brand Thin Rice Noodles and also their Sit-Fry Noodles... Can be used for pretty much anything and really easy to make (I put evoo, parmesean cheese and italian seasoning with pepper on them). *Classico...
  3. I tried Pamela's in the beginning before I found out I wasn't able to tolerate tapioca flour/starch. I made pancakes yummm they are really good though. I would make the entire bag and freeze them in a large zip loc. Place 2-3 depending on the size together so I could take out what I was going to eat. Wrap what you want to defrost in a paper towel and...
  4. I went through similar with being tired and hungry in the beginning. Mine got better during the first couple of months. I brought snacks to work like apples with peanut butter, carrots, nuts -- things I could snack on at my desk. Gluten Free pasta seemed to be one of my stables that helped fill me up -- ha have to be careful though also noticed some weight...
  5. My mom and mother in law both take cholesterol medicine (they are not celiac). My mom takes the one you are on and my MIL take a generic. There are a lot of generics out there for what you are taking you might be able to find one that you can switch over to. In regards to make-up and lotions. That is up to you on changing. Some of us have noticed differences...
  6. When I first started eating gluten free and didn't know I couldn't tolerate tapioca flour/starch I bought kinnikinnick bread. I kept it in the freezer and then would put two slices on a plate in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds then flip them over if they needed more time then I would put them in the toaster till they were toaster to where I wanted...
  7. I would put it either in a freezer zip loc or some container that has a really good seal. I use mason jars (like what you put your home made jam in). You can put some in the pantry (depending on the item and how quickly you will be using it), refrigerator or freezer.
  8. I take Nature Made (my dr did some tests and I was low) This is the description they give on their website: Vitamin B-12 promotes maintenance and growth of tissue and helps maintain nerve cells It is also necessary for the proper functioning of our nervous system. If you look at their website and look up B-12 they give a really good description.
  9. I don't think you are being mean or whatever having your kitchen gluten free. Your family can still get their gluten outside of the house so not biggie. In our house it is just my husband and two dogs. I have no idea what we will do if we decide to have kids. For the time being though we each use a separate counter away from the other person's to...
  10. I get that cereal off and on and haven't really had a problem with it. Since it is not gluten free (labeled) you may come across a box where it may have been CC. I have had that happen where I would feel fine with one box but then not with another one. If you end up liking the ceral I would make sure each time you buy the box to look at the ingredients...
  11. Thanks he is sweetie He likes to grab as many toys as he can and also likes to hog them so our papillion has to chase after him haha. I never had anxity until last year and it got REALLY bad. After taking all gluten out I started to feel better in about 2 months then even more as time went by. Growing up I always had stomach problems and my dr...
  12. I couldn't understand why after last nights meal of two small pieces of BBQ chicken and an ear of corn: **Have you ever had a problem with corn before? I sometimes have a problem with corn but not corn tortillas. Also the BBQ sauce you used was it gluten free? Did you make the chicken you had or buy it somewhere. Chicken and meats that have added seasonings...
  13. Once you go completely gluten free you can start to tell the difference, if it is working. If you are still eating gluten then your body is not getting the chance to heal. When I first went completely gluten free I almost felt worse then during the 1st month things started to improve a lot. If you are willing to give it a try and see it if the diet helps...
  14. I just called really quick and asked -- did't get into detail though about what type of broth (ahh forgot, I am on lunch right now at work). The rep at the contact phone number said that the broth is gluten free and so is that chicken.
  15. I got a bag of the frozen chicken you are talking about at WalMart... I have had it a couple of times and haven't noticed any problems. I was going to call them about the broth in it but forgot before I left for work. There should be a toll free line on the bag you can call.
  16. I am self-diagnosed. After sooo many years of feeling sick and always wondering if I go somewhere were the closest bathroom would be and what can I eat and then leave without it bothering me. I always knew something was up with stuff I ate but never knew what it was so I just caught on to things that I didn't feel sick eating. Dr's never figured out what...
  17. A lot of the grocery stores by me have the ground beef pre-packaged. I always look at the ingredients to make sure it is okay. I have not had any problems buying ground beef (I do not buy the frozen ground beef). Jennie-O has pre-packaged ground turkey and I believe most of it is gluten free (I have not tried ground turkey). Some companies they add in...
  18. I eat this brand of pretzels off and on. When I don't feel well I eat them like they were saltine crackers. Haven't had any problems. Hope you can figure it out....good luck
  19. I don't use Smucker's, but I would call their 800 line and inquire about the natural flavors you are seeing in the ingredients. Do you think anyone in your house could have used your jam/jellie by accident? I use Knott's Berry Farm brand and haven't had any problems. Have you had anything new lately or tried any new items in the house (laundry detergent...
  20. I have two favorite cookbooks right now (out of the 7-9 I have). 1.) The Gluten-Free Kitchen by Roben Ryberg This book is very easy. Once you have the ingredients for making one thing you have them for pretty much all of the recipies. 2.) Incredible Edible Gluten-Free Food for Kids by Sheri L. Sanderson To be honest I have not tried this cookbook...
  21. I cannot tolerate Tapioca Flour or Starch so I am not familiar with cooking with them. They are the same thing though. Unlike Potato Starch and Potato Flour -- these are two different things. If you are looking at one cookbook though and it calls for the starch in some parts and flour in others I would use what the author has in the recipe.
  22. I do not use a bread machine but from what I have read on here, a lot of people end up replacing them. There are so many nicks and crannies in the machine that the gluten can hide. Some people though have mentioned that they did not use the machine that much (like you mentioned) and cleaned it really good. It also depends on your sensitivity level to gluten...
  23. What about V8 V-Fusion? They have a lot of different flavors and are gluten free. The first sip is sometimes like WOW but then they are really good. If she ends up liking this juice then you can make your own popsicles. Mac and cheese with shredded or cut up pieces of vegetables. Spaghetti with vegetables in it. Cookies with dried fruit like cranberries...
  24. Planter Peanuts are a Kraft product, they are very good with labeling. Couple months ago I got a container of planters and called the 800 line... The lady said that if they were sprinkled with any type of wheat/gluten it would be noted. She said they would also have the "Manufactured on equipment that processes ____" on the label as well. Mine says other...
