GlutenGalAZ replied to gfpagan's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Do you think it could have been the rice? Below is a link I found last year. It is not up to date but some of the information about rice in general may be helpfull. Open Original Shared Link Is the pan you made the fried rice in shared with others that eat/cook gluten? The Frozen Veggies that you used -- are they gluten free? Some have sauces... -

ARCHIVED Sprinkles
GlutenGalAZ replied to sugarsue's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You could try to make sorbet yourself. I haven't tired yet but I want to. I have seen a lot of gluten free recipes online and in cookbooks for ice cream and sorbet. Below is a link of one recipe: Open Original Shared Link There are a lot of gluten free blogs out there with some really good recipes (some are hard and some are easy to make). Below... -
ARCHIVED Freezer Life Of Flours
GlutenGalAZ replied to BRS-07's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I cannot tolerate Tapioca Flour/Starch so I sub with either Potato Starch or Corn Starch or do 1/2 and 1/2. There is also arrowroot that you can sub with but it didn't settle very well with me. Below is a nice website for substitution: Open Original Shared Link Hope this helped some. -
ARCHIVED Sprinkles
GlutenGalAZ replied to sugarsue's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The sprinkles I have seen look gluten free but on the bottle they've said that they were processed in a facility that also processes wheat. I have only looked at the sprinkles though at WalMart, after seeing that I just haven't looked at other brands in other stores. Does your daughter have problems with items that are processed in facilities that also... -
ARCHIVED Freezer Life Of Flours
GlutenGalAZ replied to BRS-07's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi. The other week RiceGuy posted a helpful thing on flours https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=57120 Then at the bottom of that Topic he posted the below site that gives some info on how long flours last Open Original Shared Link I have had the same problem with knowing how long in the refrig VS how long in the freezer. Hope... -
Do you have any other food restrictions? I eat gluten free and my husband doesn't...below are some ideas/examples of some things that we or I eat in our household. *Mission White Corn Tortillas are good and inexpensive. You can heat them up in a pan or microwave or have at room temp or straight from the refrigerator. I have made peanut butter/jelly...

ARCHIVED Self Diagnosis
GlutenGalAZ replied to mom2easton&eli's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Some people react quickley to gluten while others it can take a day or two. I am self diagnosed. For me growing up I would eat dinner and within 30 or less I would start getting really bad stomach pains. I would feel sick for a couple of hours and have to go to the bathroom a lot during that time. I hated going out to dinner b/c I knew I was going... -
ARCHIVED The Flour Report - Attributes Of Several gluten-free Flours
GlutenGalAZ replied to RiceGuy's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I wish I had an Asian market nearby. I read so many neat things about them on here. I live in a smaller town so there are a couple of very small health food stores but only one really carries gluten free stuff. Las Vegas is about an hour in a half away and we don't go there very often. Hopfully next time we go to Whole Foods they will have the Sweet Rice... -
ARCHIVED The Flour Report - Attributes Of Several gluten-free Flours
GlutenGalAZ replied to RiceGuy's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
RiceGuy -- Thank you so much for posting this! I am e-mailing the link to myself to read more of it and print it for my folder when I get home from work. Your posts about cooking are always very interesting and educational. I mainly use "safe" gluten free flours that I am use to when I bake/cook, so this will be helpful in branching out... -

GlutenGalAZ replied to glutenfreegirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Open Original Shared Link Not sure how up to date the above site is.... Welcome to the Board =) I would do a search on here for Las Vegas, there has been a lot of good info this past year for there. Las Vegas and Henderson are very close to each other, you will find around 3 I think it is Whole Food Stores there/in that area. They have A LOT of gluten free foods. There is a post recently about Vegas and food places where...

ARCHIVED What's The Deal With Wm Great Value Products?
GlutenGalAZ replied to hhdavid's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The products that I have tried I haven't had any problems with. They are good with labeling Gluten Free on their boxes. I have noticed that if an item is naturally gluten free BUT processed in a facility that also does wheat stuff they will not label it Gluten Free. Do you have any other sensitivties to food? Did you maybe react to something you ate... -
ARCHIVED Pumpkin Donut Drops
GlutenGalAZ replied to purple's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Oh that sounds good and easy compared to other recipes =) The last two times I made a batch of pancakes to freeze I added some pumpkin into the mix and it really thickens the pancakes -- makes them an orange color but they are good. I used the rest to make lasagna which was different really pumpkin tasting (first time doing that so it is really trial and... -
ARCHIVED Help! My Son Is Eating Dirt
GlutenGalAZ replied to bear6954's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
When you mentioned eating dirt the first thing that came to me was low iron/anemia too. When I was reading up on low iron last year I remember it mentioning eating things like dirt, paper etc. Some people with low iron also crave to chew on ice. Hope you can figure things out. Good Luck. -
ARCHIVED Pumpkin Donut Drops

ARCHIVED Grrr Arrrg
GlutenGalAZ replied to Nicole H.'s topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Wishbone (has MSG in it if that bothers you) and Kraft Ranch (No MSG) is Gluten Free. Not sure about Hidden Valley Ranch...growing up it never agreed with me (before I knew about celiac) so I just never look at that brand, not sure if it is gluten free or not or something else in it that bothered me. Good Luck -

ARCHIVED Thin Crust Pizza
GlutenGalAZ replied to MollyBeth's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Open Original Shared Link I've tried this a couple of times. It is okay better then some other crusts I have tried making. It is more of a liquid not a dough type mixture so you just spray Pam or something on a smaller cookie sheet (not one of the bigger sheets) and pour it in. I leave out the seasonings they mention and add what I want instead. Open... -
ARCHIVED Endometriosis & Celiac
GlutenGalAZ replied to KD Jaye's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Gluten has been linked to infertility and so has endo. The only way that endo can be really diagnosed is by a laparoscopy (ulta sounds are not accurate if you dr suggests this). I had a laparoscopy done end of January and have mild endo. Both gluten and endo can affect pregnancy. I would suggest going completely gluten free. You don't want to be partial... -

GlutenGalAZ replied to GlutenGalAZ's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thank you everyone for your replies and input on different items and insight on salt with foods. RiceGuy -- Thank you for the links I will take a look at them this week. Thank you also for the comment on increasing potassium instead of decreasing salt. Thanks again. -
Morton has a Salt Substitute (for salt free diets). It looks like a salt container but all blue and says Morton Salt Substitute on it. The Nutrition Facts on the back is for a Serving Size 1/4tsp and the only thing listed with any amount is the Potassium 610mg. Has anyone used this? If you haven't used this product but sub out your salt what...
