  1. Thank you everyone for the replies. Very helpful Thanks for the input about the rice being mushy after freezing. I decided to pass this weekend on trying it out and concentrated on a making a couple of things but next time (soon) when I make rice with a meal or on its own I'll take your advise and freeze a little to see how it turns out (for some reason...
  2. You could have a problem with one of the ingredients in one or some of the products. When I first went gluten free I ordered some of the Kinnikinnick products and thought it was so neat b/c I found bread and pizza crusts. I kept getting sick and then tried Pamela's mix for pancakes was getting sick from that and then I found out that I could not handle...
  3. What stood out to me in your list was: Quakes Rice Snacks Cheddar -- If this is Quaker Rice Snacks you could be having a problem with it. The ingredient label may look safe but they cannot guarantee their items are not CC. Some people have posted on here that they can eat their products and others can. I stay away from the brand due to possible CC (a...
  4. Celiac vs Gluten Intolerance https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=58949 https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=51207 MSG is gluten free. It is an additive that some companies add in their products as a flavor enhancer. While figuring out what items were bothering me I found that I cannot tolerate MSG. I get really...
  5. I bought some real rice (not instant rice) and want to put it in some meals or just make and freeze it. Has or Does anyone frozen/freeze rice and then just heat up later? What about adding rice to meals and freezing? I was thinking of making that Rice Lasagna that was posted a while ago as well as some other meals. I want to make some stuff up...
  6. Growing up I never had knee problems then about 9 yrs ago I did a cycling class with a friend for the first time errrr and after the class I couldn't really walk... I ended up having to go to my dr to get checked up on and it took around a week or two to be able to walk better and the pain to go down (one of my knees had swelled up). He had told me at the...
  7. Coke and Pepsi are gluten free as well as Dr Pepper. I personally cannot tolerate Dr Pepper for some reason, something in it makes me feel really funny and bothers my stomach. I cut out caffeine last year but still have some caffeine free soda once in a while like Sprtie or Squirt. Good Luck
  8. I use to put the frozen slices in the microwave for a couple seconds... then the toaster I got (I think a lot are like this now) has a frozen or defrost button on it and WOW that worked soooo much better then trying to defrost it some in the microwave first. I haven't found a store bread yet that I care for so when I want bread I make my own and cool...
  9. Do you notice if you have a problem with corn? I can't tolerate yellow corn but am okay wtih white corn. I believe majority of popcorn (that you buy in bags) is yellow. I stopped buying popcorn already made up and just buy the white kernnels and make my own at home on the stove. Good Luck with everything
  10. I haven't tired any of Bob's Red Mill mixes b/c they all contain tapioca flour or starch in them (I can't have). I do get their corn starch, potato starch, baking soda/powder, white and brown rice flours and other flours and haven't had any problems. I "think" I read somewhere that some of their mixes contain bean flours so some people do like them...
  11. I get Chex off and on. I tried the Honey Nut one the other week and it was good. The Rice Chex -- Majority of the time I felt a little sick/icky feeling afterwards but never full blown sick. The Honey Nut one if I ate too much of it I did feel sick but if I ate a small amount I felt just fine.
  12. I am on the West Coast, but have only seen the Cookie and Brownie mix in Smith's (same as Kroger and Ralph's if you have one near you). Here are a couple links to some of the Betty Crocker posts lately. Maybe you'll see someones post in your area about stores https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=58696 https://www.celiac.com...
  13. Below are some previous posts on the topic (there are more but here are a few): https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=18962 https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=32396 https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=57689 https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=50880 Hope this helps some.
  14. Thank you =)
  15. I would see if your BF can find out what his sister is making... Maybe you can bring a plat of similar food so what you are eating blends in with what everyone else is eating OR just bring whatever you want to eat. Depending on how your BF's sister is with you maybe she is testing you or just pushing your buttons (depending on how you get along). ...
  16. Hi. I found a recipe on a cookie site that I want to try to make but it calls for dried dates. I found Amport Dates but was a little nervous b/c there is an old post on here about them using oat flour to roll the dates in BUT I did get an e-mail from the company so it sounds like they are safe now: Thank you for your contact. We use a small amount...
  17. That is a neat idea (the hot cereal), I have never made anything like that before so wouldn't really know where to start ha. So you just pretty much use normal rice (not the instant) and grind it then cook it like you would rice? and then at the end add some rice bran? I was thinking it could be used like flaxseed with just adding some to a recipe...
  18. Thank you for all of the new great ideas. I am definately printing off this topic to keep in my food idea folder and to try out Thanks for posting how to bake/cook the spaghetti squash, looking forward to trying that hopfully soon. Thanks again everyone!
  19. I bought a bag of Rice Bran a while ago when I had time to cook haha..... I have a recipe that I bought it for but haven't had time to make it. Any suggestions or pointers on how to use the Rice Bran in recipes that do not call for it. I just don't want it to go bad after buying it (I kind of forgot I had it ahhh). Right now I just mainly...
  20. If you eat salades watch out for the dressing if you are avoiding MSG. I stopped eating things wtih MSG in it and feel so much better but have a harder time finding dressings I like b/c so many have MSG in it (it makes my head feel funny/strange). GOOD LUCK
  21. I found the Brownie mix at Smith's today (part of Kroger and Ralphs). Made Brownie tonight yummm!! My husband (gluten eater) was like Rebecca these are not gluten free you are going to get sick later b/c they cannot be gluten free they are sooo good. So that was neat! The brownies are really good... sweet but good (really good with milk). ...
  22. I don't know where you are located (state)... I don't really eat out anymore b/c of some ingredients I avoid (MSG, Nitrates/Nitrites etc). If you live in a state that has an In N Out, you can do their fries or a double double protein style (lettuce instead of a bun). Wendy's is good, you can get their baked potato and chili (might want to tell them you...
  23. I've tried a couple of the gluten free mac and cheese (boxes)... My favorite is Annie's Homegrown Rice Pasta & Chedder Macaroni & Cheese. I mix the cheese mix and milk in the bowl like it says and then add a little shredded cheese then mix the noodles in and then put a little more shredded cheese on top and then pop it in the microwave for 30...
  24. I think a lot of people on here vary by this question and what they choose. It has been asked before so you might be able to find some good replies on some of the past posts. Personally... it depends on the company. If I try something and do not have a problem with it then I will get it again or something else by that company. If I try something and...
