  1. If your test is 7.5 times higher than the cut off, then it would be very high, but again, the accuracy of this test is questionable. It should lead you to getting more tests, and proper blood panel for celiac disease that includes tTG tests as well as total IGA.
  2. I'm not sure of how you used it, but it is true that if you got something with a lot of contamination it may not work unless you increase the number of capsules you take. In restaurant situations, even if I order from a gluten-free menu, I typically take two just before eating. Since I've been doing this I've not had gluten issues when eating out, but each...
  3. Welcome to the forum! I also live in a mixed house with gluten vs. gluten-free. I don't think buying new pots, pans, etc., is necessary, but you will need to focus on cleaning them well before each use, especially things like cutting boards, colanders, wooden spoons, etc. It's also important to clean shared areas well before you prepare food where there may...
  4. For celiac disease and gluten sensitivity normally a test would not be called "allergen", but I believe the test you took to be this one, and the article below has more info about blood tests for celiac disease:
  5. These articles might be helpful if you are looking for lower gluten wheat:
  6. I couldn't find any specific information to support the claim that wheat flour is used as an organic insecticide around olive trees in France. While there are various organic and natural methods used in agriculture for pest control, including the use of plant-based substances, such as neem oil or diatomaceous earth, the specific use of wheat flour as an insecticide...
  7. It is doubtful that water or olive oil would contain any gluten. Activated charcoal is gluten-free, but I do know that very sensitive people seem to have reactions to many different things.
  8. In that case it might be best to assume that their products are not safe. EpiLynx, which is a sponsor here, makes a line of GF cosmetics: https://www.celiac.com/search/?&q=epilynx&type=cms_records2&search_and_or=and&search_in=titles
  9. I agree, and not to scare anyone, but here is our category of articles on this topic: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/celiac-disease-amp-related-diseases-and-disorders/fertility-pregnancy-miscarriage-and-celiac-disease/
  10. This thread is a couple of years old, so Meredith may not get your reply, but welcome to the forum! Perhaps your mother took so many pills due to her undiagnosed celiac disease? Has her health improved? I assume she went gluten-free as well, but maybe not...
  11. Understood, but there is not yet a prescription drug treatment for celiac disease, although doctors often prescribe many things to address its symptoms, but only a gluten-free diet will offer true relief.
  12. So they did a tTG test, which was likely either IGA or IGG, but it was negative. It's too bad they did not do a full celiac panel, which is important as you could be IGA deficient, which will skew the IGA version of this test and could result in a false negative. You may want to ask your doctor if they can re-do the blood test and get a full panel done, and...
  13. This article might be helpful:
  14. I've heard of Gluten Free Scanner, but not the other one. In general such apps are only as good as their last database update, so it's hard to know how up to date they are. No matter what it is always a good idea to look at ingredient labels when you shop, as ingredients can change without notice.
  15. Welcome to the forum. Can you tell us which blood tests you had done, and what the results were, including the reference ranges? A positive biopsy for celiac disease usually indicates that you do have it.
  16. This article should be helpful: Also this search: https://www.celiac.com/search/?&q=cocktails&type=cms_records2&search_and_or=and&search_in=titles
  17. Welcome to the forum. Can you share the blood test results here, along with the cut off levels for a positive result? It sounds like you got a celiac disease blood panel, but you called it an "allergy" test so it's not clear (celiac disease is not an allergy). Also, normally a biopsy would be done after a positive celiac test, but it sounds like...
  18. Yes, they are gluten-free and safe for celiacs, although some may have issues with them, but most celiacs do not have issues:
  19. I agree, and most people do just fine with a deep cleaning of all of the items, but the cutting board would be the most problematic item.
  20. In some cases, individuals with Crohn's disease may also have elevated levels of IgA and tTG antibodies due to the inflammation and immune response occurring in the gastrointestinal tract. This can potentially lead to a positive celiac disease antibody blood test, even though celiac disease might not be the underlying cause. To differentiate between...
  21. Yes, soy sauce is considered low gluten, and in Europe all forms of soy sauce, even ones with wheat, used to be considered safe for celiacs. Of course it is always best to not use soy sauce with what, and go with gluten-free ones, or tamari, which is naturally gluten-free.
  22. Welcome to the forum, and hopefully others will also reply, but I just wanted to mention that some celiacs have seen growth spurts begin late after going gluten-free, so I do think it's possible.
  23. Normally in a vitamin there would be something like wheat starch or wheat germ, either of which are considered very low gluten, so hopefully you should recover quickly. It's difficult to say for sure how long it will take though, because everyone's reaction is different.
