  2. Although this diet is certainly not a prison sentence, to a great many, it is more than just annoying. For some, going back on gluten brings on such violent, drastic reactions, it sends them into the hospital. The gluten challenge is like putting some people literally through hell and back, and I can understand the reluctance to do so.......
  3. Although celiac is quite often a contributing factor in hair loss, another culprit that must be explored is thyroid disease. Hair loss is a common symptom of thyroid disease. Have you had your thyroid checked? Karen

  9. You are so right about this, Ann...... Awhile back, I wrote a letter that I sent out to insurance companies (I also posted it on here and many members also sent it out to insurance companies in their areas). I figured this would be the best angle to tackle the problem of this disease not getting the recognition we so desperately need it to... After all...
  10. Oh trust me, the anniversary faux pas is just the drop in the bucket! Yes, August 15th rolled around, and not a sound, peep, card, nada, nothing..... Finally, I went to bed at 11:00 p.m. and left the anniversary card on his pillow (for maximum guilt effect... of course.......). The next morning, I got the old "Geez, I've been so busy lately, I totally...

  12. Hi Regan! I'm glad you found us too! You certainly have been through the ringer before finally discovering the source of your problems. Unfortunately, that is an all too familiar occurrence, as you will discover by reading posts on here. The average time from onset of symptoms to finally a proper celiac diagnosis is 11 years! Hopefully, that will soon...

  20. Incredibly interesting! My mom has a lazy eye. She's also the one who suffers from diverticulitis and it is my grandfather on my mom's side who I am sure the celiac came from. The end of this month, she goes for her follow-up to the GI who treated her in the hospital for the diverticulitis and I am going with her - I am going to request he do a celiac...
