  1. The closest I have gotten to heaven is the five seconds between them administering the sedative and when you go out like a light! Aaaahhhhh, that feeling...... I would go through another endoscopy just to get that feeling again! LOL! You will do just fine. It's no sweat, really........ Hugs! Karen
  2. I just checked out my bottles of Boost, but they list salt as an ingredient.. I can't believe you ventured into the OMG thread - I'm glad you didn't get lost in there! LOL! Hugs. Karen
  3. <------------------------------------ (hit refresh)............................ Hugs. Karen
  4. Stacie, just wanted to send lots of hugs your way as it seems like right now you have the weight of the world on your shoulders. Depending on how long this insidious disease has reeked havoc on your husband's system will directly affect how long it takes him to see any improvement. I don't mean to scare you, but depending on the severity, it could sometimes...
  5. Want to send you HUGE HUGS!!!! Believe me, I know the frustration of not only dealing with a chronic illness on a daily basis, but the frustration level of searching for years and years for your own answers..... I had to learn the hard way that there is no possible way in a public forum such as this, could we possibly control if someone decides to post...
  6. I agree. Lisa's intentions for this thread was twofold. Make the newbies feel welcome and comfortable enough to post their feelings, questions, concerns and worries. Secondly, to bring us dinasaurs back to the day of when we first got the diagnosis and the feelings of anger, frustration, relief, hopelessness we felt at the beginning. There are many...
  7. Hi Sissy! New person or not, your thoughts are just as important as everyone elses!!! Regarding the negative post, well........... I guess it goes with the territory of being a public forum. I have learned to just let them roll off my back and be forgotten. Learned that the hard way! Don't let it erase all the positivity of this thread, that would...
  8. Kassiane, I am currently looking into adrenal fatigue as to the possible causes of my extreme exhaustion and continued thyroid difficulties. So far, the sites and links given to me to research have given me great insight into this. It would be great if you could post some links to back-up your belief that there is no such thing as adrenal fatigue...
  9. You will become me. If you want to continue on the road you currently are on, be forewarned there are serious repercussions to that route..... My celiac was undiagnosed for so long that there is so much damage done to my intestines that they are beyond repair. Even being gluten free for almost 4 years and bloodwork well within normal range, the...
  10. Aaaahh, the joys of being a parent, eh? The difficult decisions we have to make for their benefit. It's a good thing they make it worth it by bringing us so much joy!!!! Here's my 2 cents (worth a bit more these days as the Cdn dollar is higher..... lol) More and more, the biopsy is being overlooked as the "gold standard" and a positive dietary...
  11. Aww shucks, I'm sitting here blushing! Thanks Jillian.... Laughter truly is the best medicine, I am a firm believer of that. I get a great sense of satisfaction knowing that I somehow brightened someone's day. That's what makes the world go around! Hugs to all, Karen
  12. As per the glutenfreedrugs website, Tums do contain gluten but Rolaids are gluten-free. I use Rolaids..... Hope you feel better! Karen
  13. Here is a trick (for the english muffins, anyway.....) Keep them frozen. Take on out, put it in the microwave for 50 seconds. Take it out, turn it over and let it sit for about 3 - 4 minutes, then slice it in half. Once you have done that, toast it, and voila! perfect english muffin! Hope this helps! Karen
  14. Hi Steve! Just wanted to add - there's no such thing as a dumb question on this site! Don't worry about a question sounding silly, all questions have merit...... Karen
  15. Yep. Another version is "I'm Basically Stumped".... BTW, I told this to my doctor last week when I was in for a physical. She had an intern with her and she was explaining the differences between me (quite the study example I am!!! LOL!) and the person they saw before me who had IBS. I said "Oh, we in the celiac world call that the "I'm Basically Stumped...
  16. I was thinking of you the other day, Richard, knowing that January is coming up. Said a prayer for you! You hold a special place in my heart! Hugs. Karen
  17. That's why I add in every single welcome post that I do that our motto is "No question is too stupid to ask"..... Because it is true! There are so many intricacies to this diet that you have to ask a ton of questions so nothing slips by you in the gluten department! Some really good examples are: "What about the glue left behind on the apple when...
  18. I know that Boost has a "High Protein" version that comes in chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. They are also gluten free. I don't know if they are okay though for a one year old. Maybe check with the pediatrician to see if you can maybe add a bit of it to smoothies, or add it to some milk to dilute it...... Good Luck! Karen
  19. I think back to the days when I first came on here and was shocked that I could get glutened by using the same toaster as the rest of my non-gluten-free family! We've come a long way, baby!!! Hugs. Karen
  20. What a wonderful idea! Thank you for recognizing me! It feels good to know that I have done something to help someone and make their gluten free transition that much easier...... I have two specific ones who literally dragged me out of the abyss of depression and fear that I was in when I first came here. celiac3270, bless his heart, reached out...
  21. I also hate the cold, I hate winter also....... Like Rusla, from October to March, I get hit by SAD pretty bad. In fact, this year is one of the worst so far..... I am to the point now that I really feel so "detached" like I couldn't really give a crap about anything... Just existing, not really living...... Of course, living in the Great White...
  22. Hear Ye! Hear Ye! I fully agree! Okay, that's the extent of my rhyming abilities!!! Hugs Karen
  23. Hi Maribeth! Welcome to the forum! There's a bunch of really great, supportive people on here that will help you navigate through the gluten-free world and be there for support. Remember, there is no such thing as a stupid question on this forum. So feel free to ask whatever you need...... In regards to biopsy, well, I for one am not a big fan of the...
  24. Awww, Lisa, sorry this happened to you! No words of wisdom, except to tell you that when it happens to me, mashed potatoes are the only food that doesn't hurt going through...... Your upcoming road trip sounds fabulous! Fall is my favourite time of year and all the fall colours "bring me alive" so to speak...... Unfortunately, for whatever reason...
  25. I am in the same boat as you are...... Have you had your thyroid checked? Perhaps you are hypothyroid. Also, I am really looking into adrenal fatigue and adrenal exhaustion as the cause of my continued fatigue. There was a link posted on here about it and it was VERY interesting; www.stopthethyroidmadness.com Another possibility is anemia, as...
