  1. Hi Gabby! Check with your pharmacist if there is a generic brand of the same medication that does not contain wheat starch. It is my understanding that there are only 4 medications on the market in Canada that still contain gluten, and the one you have must be one of them....... The pharmacist has a book that lists the four medications (I forget the...
  2. I am sitting here looking at a huge bag of Rockets for the kids. I am hungry...... Does anyone know if they are gluten free? The ingredients are: Dextrose, (may contain corn syrup solids and/or maltodextrin), citric acid, calcium stearate, artificial flavours, colours. Anyone have it on a list of okay stuff? Thanks! Karen
  3. Hi Lorka: In order for you to get your biopsy now, you would have to go back on gluten for three months, I don't think you are willing to do that by the sounds of it..... Have you always been on the petite/fragile/thin side? Perhaps it is just your physical constitution and gluten-free or not, that is how you are going to be.... My older daughter...
  4. Is Humpty Dumpty one of the companies which will clearly list any gluten? They have a new flavour here in Canada - Fries & Gravy. I looked at the ingredients and I didn't see anything that looked like gluten. Think they are okay? I think it is totally ironic that we celiacs can eat something called "fries and gravy".....!! (by the way, I...
  5. If it was within the general GTA vicinity, I could try...... It would definitely have to be a Saturday though. That way, Terry could stay home with the kids and I could actually have a relaxing outing!!!! (If anyone watches Desperate Housewives, I AM SOOOOOO LYNETTE!!!!!) Karen
  6. Hi TiredofDoctors!! I agree totally with you. This board has been a godsend for me also. Without it, I would still be sooooo in the dark about celiac disease because I have learned more here than 50 doctors could have told me in person. But more importantly, I have found friends here that I am so thankful for and consider myself very lucky for knowing...
  7. David, oh, David, dear psycholurker, I would highly recommend stop using that term, unless you wanted to turn your wife into a psychopath....... Karen
  8. Me too, I have "met" so many wonderful, kind people here on this board. I feel proud to be part of it! Hugs. Karen
  9. When diagnosed, over 100. Last month, bloodwork showed 13. Karen
  10. This is from Delphi: Rolaids (Pfizer) (vp=9-16-04) Rolaids Soft chews in vanilla and wild cherry are NOT gluten-free. All other Rolaids products are gluten-free, including the Zantac 75, however they do NOT guarantee that there is not cross contamination with their products. I think the answer you got was just a "cover the butt" answer......
  11. My Lord, I don't think you need to worry about being the one that was rude!!! Considering we live in a world filled with food allergies, I can't believe this person doesn't realize that she needs to be a bit more "flexible"...... She was the one being rude (and inconsiderate)........ Karen
  12. Hi Lorka, Where in Southern Ontario? I am in the outskirts of Toronto (Bowmanville). Karen
  13. There is no longer anything on the market. About six months ago, I was in the supermarket and was reading the ingredients of the store's brand name (I think it was something like Master Compliments, but I can't remember). Anyway, the ingredients looked a bit different from Mott's so I decided to e-mail the company. I got a reply back saying that yes, indeed...
  14. Be careful. In Canada, Mott's Clamato Juice has gluten in it...... It broke my heart when I found that out, considering I was a Caesar connoisseur....... Karen

  18. Just wanted to note that on the link that I provided for you, there seems to be some inaccurate information as far as I am concerned regarding children with celiac disease. I read something in there about some children being able to tolerate gluten after "5 years" off gluten, or something along those lines......WRONG!!!!!! Once a celiac, always a celiac...
  19. Well, here is one article, of many: Open Original Shared Link Karen
  20. Well, hate to break it to ya, but....., both of your backgrounds are in the high risk group for celiac disease....... Just thought I would let you know........ Karen
  21. Hi Jason! Wow, this girl doesn't know what she's missing!! But from my 42 years of experience, I have learned that trying to "get back together" with an ex, rarely, if ever, works out, so don't take your hat out of the ring yet....... I'll give you a hint, just be there for her, show her the effort you are putting into learning about celiac disease,...
  22. He should also look into MVP. Here is a link: Open Original Shared Link Hugs. Karen
  23. This little angel has got to be the most beautiful child I have ever seen. She has CF and has also been diagnosed with celiac disease. Her story moved me a great deal. Please send her some prayers and strength. Open Original Shared Link Hugs. Karen
  24. Boy, I wish we all had access to this dietician. She's obviously quite knowledgeable about celiac disease, with we all know is quite rare...... Open Original Shared Link Karen
