  1. It is so confusing post diagnosis isn't it? When I was diagnosed I cut out all processed food unless it was labeled as gluten free or I had called the company to check with them. I also took a long time to heal. Meanwhile you are non absorbing the vitamins you need to feel healthy and energetic. If you want to speed up recovery stay 100% gluten free...
  2. Hi! I read an article recently that said that the severity and type celiac symptoms can vary and change over time but that the intolerance is always with you. This could explain why a lot of celiacs go undiagnosed (and possibly why you are experiencing a new symptom). How long have you been gluten free? I know a lot of celiacs find that they cannot handle...
  3. Yes this is pretty normal. When I was diagnosed I had to ingest lots of gluten for about 4 weeks before the endoscopy and I was a total zombie for the 4 weeks plus about another 4 weeks after that. You are feeling sick because your body is trying to heal itself. If you want to speed up your recovery you need to really take care of yourself. This includes...
  4. Hi! I usually get aches and pains if I have accidentally ingested some gluten. Last time it happened I found out that a product I use regularly (that used to be gluten free) had changed to wheat derived glucose. Manufacturers can change the ingredients at any time. I had just assumed that it was still gluten free and didn't check. I think your immunity...
  5. Hi! Sorry you feel a bit judged, please don't give up on this forum because of it. I am also on the pill and asked my doctor about the exact same question. Apparently, if you are having diarrhea or vomiting it might affect how you absorb the pill. Mainly celiacs effects the way you absorb fats and a lot of vitamins are absorbed through fats and therefor...
  6. I'm really sorry to hear that you are not getting support at home. It's really important to have support. Nobody likes to inconvenience others, but it is really important to your health as even the tiniest amount of gluten can inhibit your recovery. Hopefully you'll get the support you need from this community. I'm guessing your kids are teenagers from...
  7. I read and article once that said that the symptoms of celiacs change with time, but the intolerance is always with you. A bowel problem at two years old, then nothing until adolescence when you might get lots of colds an flus. My celiacs was misdiagnosed as chronic fatigue after I had glandular fever. Several doctors thought it was depression. It wasn't...
  8. A lot of people recently diagnosed with celiacs have problems dealing with fatty foods at least until their body heals itself. When I was diagnosed, I found it really confusing trying to understand the ingredients lists on foods. So I cut out all processed foods unless they were specifically labeled as gluten free. This might be a good option for you. It...
  9. you should try eating more vegies and try a gluten free vitamin supplement as your vitamin levels could be low. Also a lot of ice creams contain gluten. good luck
  10. Hi, I know this is an older post but I thought I would reply anyway. It all depends on how sensitive you are to the gluten. Some celiacs find that they can't use some brands of shampoos and soaps because they contain gluten which accidentally gets on thier hands or in thier mouth. Other celiacs never get dagnosed because they don't have any symptoms...

    ARCHIVED Colds

I used to get heaps pf colds and flus that lasted forever and as soon as one was over, I would get another. I became even more strict with the gluten free diet, I ddn't eat anything unless it specifically said 'gluten free' on the label. I even changed my hand soap and shampoo to gluten free ones. It some time to rid myself of all contamination but I haven...
