  1. Can't help you with the store bought or the mixes. My dd bought a $5 loaf of gross bread so I never did buy any. I don't have a gluten-free bread machine nor a stand mixer. Gee even my big oven is broken. BUT...I love this bread and it's easy. It tastes like homemade gluten white bread. Foccacia Open Original Shared Link also posted here with...
  2. Wow after reading tons on here that is the first time I've heard it explained that it's barley that is hidden. I knew wheat had to be written on the labels but didn't know if all companies were following that rule. Thanks! Also I saw your bento boxes yesterday... you are ever SO talented/creative! I liked the heart carrot and the piggies and the variety and...
  3. I made African Groundnut Stew...that's when I found out groundnuts were peanuts
  4. I am praying for Ellie to be healed. May God bless her.
  5. Ditto... but becareful of the ones with added things like cookies. Plain is best in everything.
  6. Kraft, ConAgra, Heinz, McCormick, Ortega, Bertoli, Hershey's, S&W, Pace, Blue Bunny, Nestle are just a small handful of brands you can trust to list wheat on the label if it has wheat in the item. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Some items might be easy to overlook. Ex: Prego traditional spaghetti sauce is safe but not the meat style. Some...

  9. I have heard my friend say that and it works!!!
  10. Hi Welcome! You just joined an amazing family. All your questions can be answered very quickly no matter how dumb, simple or gross they sound. And everyone understands what you and yours are going through. Some have minor problems like my dd and some are extreme. You could wait weeks/years to get help from the doctors but here...many (experienced) heads are...
  11. I got this recipe from somewhere Its so good! Mallow Whipped Sweet Potatoes 2 cans (23 oz. each) sweet potatoes or yams, drained 6 T. butter, softened, divided 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 2 cups mini marshmallows, divided 3 T. brown sugar (or something sticky) 2 cups gluten-free rice krispies 1. 12. When the pie is baked the beans puff up. Without the beans I don't know how the crust would turn out. What kind of sub could you use for the beans/crust? hm...cornbread would work instead.
  13. Yogurt is usually still good a couple of weeks after the expiration date or longer as long as its been kept cold. I think the "good guys" protect it
  14. I am so glad you posted these threads. This is my first holiday to cook gluten-free for my dd and I hope I don't mess anything up. I hope I can find a good homemade roll recipe, the rest I think I will be able to switch. We like yams with marshmallows and rice krispies with the other gooey stuff on it, that should be easy. Pie crust...I am going for cookie...
  15. I made that like 20 years ago (my dd turns 20 next month) only it called for a graham cracker crust. It was a favorite...yum! I kinda forgot about it raising kids and working full time. I should try it again...thanks for the idea! You can make it as a pie. My real Oreo pie recipe is made like that only you stir some cookie crumbs into the pudding. Gee memories...
  16. Perfect for this: Open Original Shared Link Mexican Pie The next time you make tacos, make some extra ingredients then make the pie with the leftovers. Only takes 20 minutes to bake. Very easy! I am looking for recipes to use a bisquick sub with. I have 3 little Bisquick books I am looking to convert to gluten-free. That's where I found the recipe...
  17. I use Bragg's Liquid Aminos. Tastes just like soy sauce and its gluten-free.
  18. Does anybody use DMSO (dimenthyl sulfoxide)? What are the details?
  19. Some brands of chili beans have wheat in it and I recently saw it in the ingredients list of McCormick chili seasoning I had in the cupboard but I don't know how long I had it. I buy S&W chili beans and make my own seasoning. Also S&W pinquitos are seasoned. I use seasoned canned tomatoes too. I called S&W and they are a trusting company, they...
  20. That's the one I want next!
  21. I have to either write it on the recipe or store it next to the xanthan gum to remember
  22. Thanks, Rachelle, I will try that next time. We don't have the Enjoy Life brown rice tortillas, its a small store so I make my own flour ones. Now I am back to using corn again instead of wheat, they are faster than homemade. I fry them a bit b/c I like the taste better and b/c it softens them. Depending on the brand, I don't think I need to fry them. The...
  23. I would switch salts. The ingredients listed includes aluminum. That can add alot of problems to your health. Open Original Shared Link
  24. I got my mom to use baking soda, she's 72. I sometimes use coconut oil just so I don't "stick" together.
