ARCHIVED This Week's Gluten Free Menu And Some Recipes
purple replied to RissaRoo's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I just wanted to thankyoo, RissaRoo! I made your black forest cake/frosting(I used a different cake recipe)for my dd early birthday. It turned out fantastic. I followed your directions exactly. The frosting was wonderful. I sent the remaining cake home with my dd (turning 20). My dh wanted to know if there was more of that "cake with the cherries". I will... -
That's what I plan to do this year. I made ginger snap and vanilla wafer cookies today to stick in the freezer for pie crusts. Does the cookie crust hold up well or get soggy? I made a no bake pumpkin cheesecake awhile back with a ginger snap crust. It was amazing, so now I am hooked on cookie crusts

ARCHIVED Side Dishes To Go With Spiral Ham?
purple replied to stolly's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
My dd always likes Pistachio salad or a fruit salad made with pudding, orange juice and yogurt. I can post recipes if you are interested. They are both good with ham. -
I am making these again today: Gluten Free/Vegan Breakfast Brownies Open Original Shared Link Karina lists several alternative flours/ingredients. I tried them with chocolate chips but it doesn't suit them. They taste like apple crisp or gingerbread. I am sure you could add pumpkin pie spice or even pureed apricots or dried. I divided the dough into...

ARCHIVED How Do You Cope With A Rice Allergy?
purple replied to VioletBlue's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Here is a delicious rice free bread recipe. I make it every week. And its easy! Rise an hour and bake 20 minutes. Open Original Shared Link Turn it into crumbs. I make egg free french toast with it. Slice it into bread sticks. I haven't yet tried it for pizza crust but I might get around to it soon. My first experience can be found here... -
Mine is a Black & Decker RC400, 7-cup. It works great. I usually use a can of broth and the rest water.

I am not a vet but I have given our cat probiotics before. Just break one open and try to give the kitty a little in food or drink or with a dropper and squirt it down his throat. Sorry about the sick kitty, I will pray for him.

ARCHIVED Guittard Extra Dark Chocolate Chips
purple posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Here are the ingredients for Guittard extra dark chocolate chips: chocolate liquor, sugar, soya lecithin and real vanilla. Processed on equipment previously used to process milk chocolate. My question is, they don't add milk according to their web site but are they dairy free? No phone number on the bag. I just bought some for myself for $1.68 on... -

When I use the rice cooker, I sometimes use 1-2 cups of broth and the rest water. White rice is always fluffy. Brown rice will be chewy but healthier then white. Brown rice needs more liquid than white and a longer cooking time.

ARCHIVED Amalgam Removal Protocols
purple replied to Lizz7711's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
You have described my mouth. I sure wish they hadn't put mercury in my mouth. I am healthy, no insurance so have decided not to have mine removed for now. At a local school, a teacher dropped a mercury thermometer, breaking it causing the mercury to spread and have to be cleaned up professionally. Carpets had to be removed, class rooms shut down, etc... -

ARCHIVED Unflavored Gelatin
purple replied to GlutenGalAZ's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
You can sub agar agar flakes for it but I haven't found any yet to try. Agar flakes is from a veggie source and gelatin from animals. Vegans don't use gelatin. Can't tell you much more w/o reading up on it again. My dd has been a vegan for 3 months and won't use the gelatin anymore. It has really helped her look at her food differently as far as health is... -
ARCHIVED Any Good Books Lately?
purple replied to debmidge's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Yeah, I'm late too. I read and reread "Streams In The Desert" by L.B. Cowman and Jon Courson's Application Commentary on the Bible. And of course the Bible...KJV. Beth Moore is amazing and David Wilkerson. -
I wish we had a Whole Foods. Boise, Idaho has a few health food stores like GNC, a co-op where I buy what I need, but its very limited and they have a small gluten free store but the prices are higher than the co-op, 50 cents to a dollar more on the each product. Plus I live over an hour away. Washington I hear has alot of healthy places. I wish Walmart would...

ARCHIVED Where Do I Start?
purple replied to KristenPK's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Ditto for my dd. As I look back over her 20 years, I can see little symptoms here and there as she was growing up. She has been gluten-free for 7-8 months (about 95-98 percent of the time). Her PMS has gotten back to normal. She still doesn't always sleep well at night and still has an allergy to dust/pets when she visits our house. She never gets bloated... -
