YES...RESULTS of my Toll House Pie. Very rich and yummy. I wish I had ice cream to put on top. Here goes it. For the pie: I used the recipe knitaddict posted with the following changes. I only used 1 stick, softened butter-it doesn't need 2 sticks (I read that melted butter makes it too gooey) I used almonds for the nuts Added 1 tsp. vanilla extact...

If you only use a little in muffins it should be fine straight across. I use 1/2 and 1/2 or guess at it. You can but those little 6 packs of applesauce if you don't want to get a big jar.

There is a lasagna thread with some great sounding ideas from I think August or September(google it). The first time I did it w/o dairy I used mashed potatoes. I made enchiladas the other day with mashed sweet potatoes and it should work for the lasagna too. I bought some "Follow Your Heart Cheese" and put a couple of strips on my dd's enchiladas. It was...

Depending on the recipe, for muffins, I sometimes reduce the sugar and add unsweetened applesauce. You could try banana puree or some people that can't have sugar use baby food like apricot puree...make 1/2 recipe to try the subs. Once I forgot to add sugar to a chocolate muffin recipe so I frosted them and you couldn't tell the difference. I have put applesauce...

Bake a cake for yourself...you deserve it! A fantastic and easy cake. I use a sorghum blend flour but white rice blend works great too. This cake is good with or w/o frosting. Open Original Shared Link Freeze some for an emergency, like a party at work, if you know ahead of time you can take some with you or have some to look forward to when you get...

I found these links with comments. I would use a bit less butter just in case or if the dough is too wet add a bit more flour. Open Original Shared Link uses 1 cup butter (many people only used 1/2 cup butter) Open Original Shared Link uses 3/4 cup butter Sounds so yummy! Thanks for posting!!! I think I will try a pie tomorrow...to PRACTICE UP...

I use several kinds. Coconut oil like all that Shay said, olive oil and light olive oil, grapeseed oil, and Smart Balance- canola/soy/olive oil and if I could afford it I would use the different nut oils. It all depends on what I cook and how much I need. Sometimes I use some of each. Coconut oil for popcorn for sure...gotta have that. Bean salad- I use part...

ARCHIVED Tourettes, Obsessive Compulsive And Adhd
purple replied to loraleena's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks Ray for posting your info. My nephew has mild Tourettes that are getting better. He is 17. I looked up those histamine producing foods and he eats many/most of them. My sister will appreciate to know what all is causing it. She knew alchol had to be to blame. His dad and 2 grandfathers were/are alcholics. He loves milk processed meats and chili. All... -
ARCHIVED Newbie Question - That Pong!
purple replied to jimgil's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I haven't tried it but you can burn/use essential oils as air fresheners, germ killers, etc. I have read that lavendar is a good one to use. Please google it for more info. You may need a "carrier" to use with it and there are precautions if you get it on your skin. They are natural and healthy compared to the synthetic chemical filled air fresheners. Open... -

ARCHIVED How To Tell An Itallian Guy "drop Half Your Culture"
purple replied to raen's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Love is a sacrifice not "Let's Make A Deal". Don't let him be the one to control your health. You need to take control of it. You can't enjoy your relationship if you get sick often, from cc/dairy, when something can be done about it. If he is angry about the situation it's b/c he has to make a choice. You or his own selfishness. Idolizing food is selfish... -

Simple thing to do. Cook extra and freeze it in plastic bags then plastic containers. Label them with food item and the date. Take out of the freezer, cut the bag open and plop it into a glass dish to microwave. No mess and fast. Rephrase it however you need to. -
Two days ago I ate a soy yogurt (never tried it before) that was expired by 2 weeks and my tummy gurgled a few times so I took a probiotic and I was fine. That was the only thing I ate out of the ordinary that day. I have never had it happen before with dairy yogurt.

Good decision! My mom and sister and my FIL all quit cold turkey years ago. My mom (72 now) can breath better. My FIL's best friend died from it so it scared him into quitting. My neighbor (aged 60) just died from it last month. Now your body can heal even better Congratulations!!!

I wondered if that would work. I will try it again, they were good crackers. Another recipe similar said to bake them about 15 minutes. I read it after we ate the crackers. I assumed I needed to bake them longer. Thanks to you I know it should work now I am glad b/c my younger dd will enjoy them! -

purple replied to Queenofhearts799's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I made these "cheesy" crackers the other day, they tasted really good but they didn't crunch. We ate them in soup. Very tastey crackers. A toss between cheese nips and wheat thins according to my taste buds. Open Original Shared Link I used cornstarch, xanthan gum and shortening. When I wrote down the recipe I thought it said shortening but it says... -
ARCHIVED So Mad!
purple replied to LuvMoosic4life's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Shay, I love your wisdom and answers, thanks. That brings up a point of interest. You don't have Celiac genes but you do have "defective genes". So I guess I am asking how come they are defective? Any thoughts on that? My dd is not a Celiac but is allergic or intolerant to wheat but it doesn't make her have any sick symptoms. She is almost 20 and seems... -
