ARCHIVED Hard Time Finding Something
purple replied to mcs1984's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Open Original Shared Link has a recipe called "Mock Cheese Crackers", made with red lentils if you can find them. Maybe you could sprinkle into the dough some Kraft cheese in the blue can. I never tried it yet but under "baking" somewhere it was posted that they use it for mac & cheese. I bet your son would love to help you make them and while doing... -
Some ideas to help your hubby "get it". Put a glob of hair in his food, then say oops sorry, let me take it out. Bake him something yummy and tell him something like you accidentally knocked a fly in it and tried to find it, or after he eats the chicken_____, I hope it tastes good b/c it smelled kinda strange before I cooked it. Leave some shells...

I live in a town, so small there are only 5 or 6 stop signs and no stop lites. I shop in the big city 1 hour away. I am not a celiac. When I go to town I think of all you people that are gluten-free. I am mostly gluten-free. I drive past all the fast food places (none in our town) and other restaurants, thinking about how hard it is for you guys. I shop quickly...

ARCHIVED Day 2 Gluten Free - Overwhelmed At The Grocery Store
purple replied to bdeanjon's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Walmart is good at putting GLUTEN FREE on their products so watch for it. Refried beans are easy, eat with gluten-free tortilla chips. Stay away from the many flavored chips for now so you don't have to read all those labels. Watch for products that have the fewest ingredients. chips-corn, oil, salt beans- beans, oil, salt Watch for Kraft or S&W... -

I have a "multi purpose" muffin recipe. It can be: 1. Wheat flour recipe no-no! 2. gluten-free version 3. dairy free/egg free 4. maple flavored 5. molasses flavored 6. streusel topped I think you could try it in a pan but I am not sure what size. I made 1/2 recipe the first time with maple syrup to see if they would turn out gluten... -
ARCHIVED Making Pudding "dirt Cups" & Need Ideas
purple replied to Esther Sparhawk's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
You could stir into the "choc fudge" pudding some Hershey's special dark cocoa to make it darker. Then grate some dark choc as elonwy said or sprinkle in the tiny, mini choc chips as Darn210 said. We live in the mtns. of Id. so I know how you feel. It took me an hour and 15 minutes to get to the co-op last night Then shop and drive back home.... -

Think of the emotional part your son will face. There would be less if he stayed home. I think you should put all the ideas posted so far, together and do the project at home and then eat those gluten-free goodies. You could take pics and have your son write up something to show he did the work. I think he should be excused for the absence but still do the... -

You can freeze the milk, just put it in some watter bottles but leave a space at the top for it to expand. -

I didn't have to throw the rolls but they didn't come out of the oven as cinnamon rolls. I give them a new name "cinnamon swirl biscuits". Very good the first day, a bit dry today, but still good. Sounds like a weather report -

So I had to make salmon..canned that is...I made patties for my cute little "buns" that turned out today to take to my 19 yr old dd. I hope she enjoys them -
We are not much of bread eaters so I haven't tried any but Lorka's once and the Quickie flax...have you tried different gluten-free flour mixes with it?. I use sorghum for most everything. I know the sorghum (Carol's) is sweeter and there is some sorghum in Bob's Red Mill. See what you can find on here: Open Original Shared Link
