  1. Simply explain to them that you have food allergies and when you consume wheat your body attacks itself. I deal with it everyday, my co-workers ordered pizza yesterday and offered me a piece. When I declined I was told, oh just eat it. Yes it gets annoying but you can handle this. Again just simply tell them you can not consume wheat. Let them know...
  2. I am curious if some of you might have problems with coffee? Every time I get glutened I have to stop drinking coffee for a few days for my body to heal. Since I have to do that, should I stop drinking coffee all together? I love my coffee, I have my 2 cups in the morning then drink water for the rest of the day. It is a treat for me. Anyway, if any...
  3. I would suggest having coffee, thats what I do lol. I explain that I am allergic to certain food and that I would prefer to eat at home and meet for coffee, something along those lines. It seems to work, then that gives you a chance to explain more about being a Celiac.
  4. I know its hard, I just posted a thread on a company outing because it is still hard for me to attend a social event. If you buy the basic foods and stay away from all the pre packaged gluten-free items you will save a lot of money. Maybe reserve a day once a month to make something special since it is so expensive, that is what I am doing now. Again...
  5. I look at this in a good way, I have to eat healthy, etc. Which I always have but now it is a very strict life long change. I appreciate your reply Laurelfla, it is nice to know that I am not the only one. At least you dont have tempting food in your house lol. My roomate could care less, she leaves a mess of crumbs on the counter. Or a big piece...
  6. Every year my company gives all employees and immediate family members a one night stay at the Omni Hotel and tickets to the Padres game. We have endless beer and hotdogs at the game, which I cant consume. I just need to know if it is wrong of me to not want to go this year? I have only been gluten-free for since Feb 08 and I still have trouble coping...
  7. Yes, I stopped eating carbs in the morning and have a hard boiled egg instead and have noticed a difference. I am not hungry around 10-11 AM anymore. Have a small handful of almonds in between lunch and dinner. Eat a nice healthy lunch and then dinner. I really need a ntritionist
  8. Open Original Shared Link check this site out, click on the map view link and select your state.
  9. Peanut butter always curbed the hunger for me and carbs too. When you are making a stir fry are you using any soy sauce or spices?
  10. Look into reflexolgoy, have your DH rub your feet and find the real sore spots. My boyfriend does this for me and helps out so much. Took my horrible stomach cramps away, so anytime I feel bad he rubs my feet. You will that most of your sore spots are going to be on the edge of your feet. That is the only thing that has helped me.
  11. Hi All, just found this site and thought I would share it with everyone here =) If you click on the map link you can choose other states besides CA Open Original Shared Link
  12. I get most of my gluten-free items from Henrys, they carry a lot of Amy's food and it is all gluten-free. I love Henrys! I am not sure about the pizza place, I have no idea but when I find out I will post it =) Oh you guys are going to love this, I hope =) The pizza place is Pizza Fusion and opens in mid 2008. This site looks pretty cool, check it...
  13. I stopped eating carbs and limited the amount of sugar I consume. I have noticed since I knocked out carbs I am not hungry ALL day long. So instead of eating grits for breakfast I eat a hard boiled egg and it holds me over until lunch. When I ate grits, I would get hungry around 10 Am, eat a bananna and still be hungry. I have expermented with this and...
  14. I love love love Pink Floyd! =) My favorite band of all times
  15. I am from Temecula, CA and paid $4.05 a gallon for 87 today. I drive a Toyota and find myself complaining about gas lol. This is crazy, I feel bad for a lot of people who cant afford to drive. I want a street bike sooo bad, have always wanted one. But I told myself I cant get it until my car is paid, hehehe couple more years =)
  16. How cool! It is so nice having these message boards to communicate with you all! I really felt alone in this until I found this site. A new pizza kitchen? What is it called? I buy Amy's pizza if I have the crave and it is good, just have to take a lactaid pill =)
  17. I so understand, it is very hard to accept this disease. The last few days I have been sooo down and it has been hard to bring myself back up. I know I have consumed gluten but not sure where it came from. My friend thought that since she had purchased organic bread that I could eat it, I really do apperciate her trying. Yes it can get frustrating...
  18. Nice, I used to go to Lucerne all the time love it out there. I am in Temecula about 40 miles north of San Diego.
  19. Just wondering how many of you are located in So Cal?
  20. I am not sure how to get tested, I have heard blood and stool tests. I know the other day I had a lot of carbs and some peanut butter. The next day I was very light headed, irritated and a few other sympotms. So last night I decided to have a high intake of carbs and I feel horrible again today, so I am going to cut carbs and sugar. So my question is...
  21. How many of you have present/past problems with Candida?
  22. What kind of diet does one adhere to if they think they have candiden? I think I might have that problem, I should go to the doctor but I will get in trouble if I miss anymore work. My boyfriend laughed at me when I told him I am having problems. So, I need to stay gluten-free and stop eating carbs and sugar for Candiden?
  23. I read on nightshades and that is the potatoe group. Yes I had a potatoe and a piece of yellow pepper lastnite. But nothing that I dont normaly eat. All though I am trying to stay away from carbs. I think it may be the gum. I started to chew gum again this week and I am going to assume thats what it is, I can only wait and see. Thank you for your...
  24. How funny you ask, I was wondering about this too. I have an appointment tomorrow at 4 and started to question if it is gluten-free, lol.
  25. Ok all, I need to know if gum is gluten free? I have noticed that I have been having some issues and am wondering if it is food, paper plate or the gum? I stopped chewing gum once I found out I was Celiac and this helps to supress the hunger. So I am wondering if it is gluten-free? Any help would be much appreciated =) Thanks! Jen
