ARCHIVED Omg... I Just Created Real French Bread Rolls!
Chrissyb replied to Guhlia's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have to do dairy free, what would you suggest. I don't really like the after taste of rice milk but I don't know if that would make a difference in the milk. I use mostly soy and almond for cooking and baking. -
ARCHIVED Really Good Chocolate Chip Cookies
Chrissyb replied to sparkles's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I use half shorting and half butter or in my case butter sub and my cookies come out cakier. I have always done it that way even pre df/gluten-free. -
I got this recipe off the internet and my family loved it. It is different the your traditional meatloaf but very good. Enchilada Meatloaf Preheat oven 350 degrees 2lbs ground chuck 1 cup coarsely crushed doritios tortillla chips ( I use 1 1/2 ) 2/3 cup gluten free taco sauce ( I make my own enchilada sauce) 2tbs taco seasoning (gluten free ...

Yolo, I am trying to think back to what I ate yesterday but brain fog. The bloating did happent though until just before I went to bed right after I took my night time meds but I know that real doesn't mean too too much. I know we had pasta, peas and pork chops for dinner, but my stomach was feeling ok then. I will go try the backing soda. I have...

I have tried searching and sorry but I just can't find the posts that talk about what will help the bloating. I am not sure what casued it, since I have had a touch of the stomach flu but that was getting better but after taking my night times meds my stomach just went haywire last night. I feel like I am pregs and so much pain. The bloating is up high...

ARCHIVED Fell Off The Wagon And Don't Want Back On...
Chrissyb replied to Cath724's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There is a gentleman that comes on here that has to eat through a feeding tube. So when I am struggling with this diet and want to whine I just think of him. Aleast I can still taste my food so who am I to complain, I should be thankful that I caught it in time that no real serious damage was done. Yes there are times I would love to have a little powder... -

Where do you find the gluten free spring roll wrapper? I have looked every where even in the Asian stores in my town and I can not find them. -
When I make a roux I use: Equal amounts of butter sub: 2Tab butter sub 2Tab Cornstarch Melt butter then add cornstarch combine together Then I usually add about 1 C chicken broth 1 C almond milk or soy milk add more depending on the consistancy you want let cook until that consistancy, add chesse sub of choice and spice cook until cheese...

You know I never really read what was in it. My husband bought it for me and since I eat it in such samll amounts and not very often and never had a reaction from it, I never thought about it. I know there are other things that have milk protein that I bother me but for some reason this does not. Go figure.

Thank you all for responding. You have been so so helpful.

Purple, yes it is df. The kind I bought is Lisanatti Almond Cheese ( the good health cheese alternative). I get mine from either Whole Foods or my other local health food stores. I have tried both the Herb and Garlic and the Cheddar, it also comes in Moz. Since I have been df only 3 months it is the best I have found. My 16 yr old son who is not df...

Gluten Free was getting a little easier to deal with, I could still have my pasta with yummy sauce, BUT when I had to go diary free no more yummy alfredo sauce. Well one night I just put my brain to work and I did it. First I made the rue with Earth Balance and cornstarch then I added chicken broth, then some almond milk and let all that come to the consistancy...

My DH and I were talking and he was asking about what happens when I eat wheat. We know the basic like the damage it does to the villi and the other diease it can cause down the road. What he was wanting to know was, let say if something has wheat in it and it hit my stomach, does my body produce extra acid to try to get rid of it or since it is and auto...

I have been dx" with multiple sclerosis since 6/99, I can look back now and see that I had gastro symptoms of celiac back then also, but have only been dx'd for about a year. Now I don't know 100% if the celiac caused my ms but they are both autoimmune. I can tell you that I can deal so much better with my celiac symptoms then my ms symptoms. I have some... -

I am the only one who is gluten free and also dairy free. I do most of the cooking but when my husband does cook he is very good about cc. We so share cooking because I also have multiple sclerosis and I have times that getting out of bad is all I can do. My son so far has enjoyed the meals that I have made and the baked goods, he has even liked some things...

ARCHIVED Need A Recipe For Cornbread Pie
Chrissyb posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I am stuck I am not even sure that is what you call it so I will try to describe it. It is kind of like a taco on the inside with meat and spices, cheese and green chilie than you mix up the cornbread batter and pour over the top and bake. I haven't had this for a long time and so I can't for my recipe. So I need the thing from the cornbread to the baking... -

Can you please post the recipe and how you converted it. Thank you -
The whole dairy thing is so confusing to me. Seems like I am ok with yogurt and some chocolate, but anything else, butter, milk, cheese, sour cream and so on I have to stay far away from, I really don't understand. I have been gluten free for about a year now and that was pretty straight forward compared to understanding they dairy problem. I miss my flavored...
