  1. WOWWWW this is quite a testimony- and could really be so helpful to others who just listen to their doctor say "negative" and then never go gluten free. 1st off- your doctor is wrong to say there are only 2 tests. and how does he decide what is the best test????? so many of us have only had 1 positive out of 3... or very suspicious "weak positives".....
  2. ya, i agree... i think the biopsy is pointless. you're positive enough. plus u have Hashimoto's.. u need to avoid gluten anyways. you're totally positive in my opinion. if i were in your shoes, i wouldnt need any more proof. the big question is why she's sending u to a rheumi?? unless she wants to cover all the basis and test for ALL the AI diseases...
  3. yes- usually a lot of problems or diseases come along with Celiac. or vitamin deficiencies from malabsorption. i myself, also have Hashimoto's & Grave's... and have often suspected that i would have developed full blown Interstitial Cystitis had i not stopped eating gluten. when i have too much fructose, or when i get accidentally glutened- i get...
  4. i dont know about meat... but grass fed beef tastes better. i DID read that cows cant digest wheat and that grass fed beef is higher in the right kind of fats. the grass fed beef i get looks a lot more like deer meat- maybe it's better quality for us- but i never think there is gluten in meat. DAIRY may be a different story- as they have been able to...
  5. not sure if it's DH or not. he could be gluten intolerant or celiac... and also have yeast issues, and a casein sensitivity &/or lactose intolerance- if he's getting a rash after yogurt... all these things can be related. ??? just wanted to say that i too have a pair of DQ8s... and while it doesnt always mean u will have Celiac- you are right to stay...
  6. YES!!!!! what the h is this all about????? i only had ONE allergic type reaction in my entire life!- pre-puberty, i had a weird hives thing after swimming in a cold pool, and another time in a cold room- this was 2x in one week- my mom assumed it was the penicillin i was on. then- after 37 years i go 100% gluten free-> (july 1, 1010)- and i have all...
  7. 26 is positive enough to know that it hurts or inflames your body. your numbers are not always gonna match up to your symptoms. there are plenty of ASYMPTOMATIC Celiacs out there who probably have much higher numbers than us. plus you dont have to have a dq2 or dq8 either. hope you find your motivation!!!
  8. even if gluten is the sole cause for an iron deficiency-> the gluten free diet is commonly not enough to correct it. many of us have had to get shots or take supplements to help correct deficiencies like B12, D, or iron. im currently taking quite a bit of D, and Chelated Iron... and will retest soon to see if it's helped yet. make sure u get everything...
  9. i would bet money it's higher than that
  10. my ttg was only an 8 at first test, and after 2 weeks on gluten challenge- it went down to a 7. did u have the other antibodies tested??? antigliadin? Endomysial Antibody?? actually, if you had a positive on that first TTG- they should know to then check the Endomysial Antibody- celiac tests are funny- like not always accurate- u really have to...

OMG, is she for real???? she is from another planet- like i am speechless... and her replies to me really PISSED ME OFF- she is insane!! and it looks like u cant reply anymore, or at least i couldnt. i stated a simple truth that it's part genetics and part environmental triggers- and she said- i sounded as ridiculous as all the people trying to explain...
  15. i agree with everyone above- get him retested- it could have been triggered since then... or maybe there's enough abs now to show up. also- i often (towards the end of my gluten days) felt like i was getting a bladder infection. i HONESTLY think that if i had continued to eat gluten- i may have developed Interstitial Cystitis. it seems like some of the...

  17. my DH did not show up until 1 week after going 100% gluten-free for the first time. it lasted for 4 months. it was pretty itchy. had some bumps on my arms too- they itched sometimes, and burned others.
  18. oh yes- i react to corn BIG TIME- very much like gluten, just doesnt last for a month. react to dairy sometimes... excess fructose AWFUL... feel better if im completely grain free. i can do small amounts of rice (white is better), quinoa, & certified gluten-free oats... but mostly everything else messes me up. also cant do legumes & most beans...
  19. Skylark- i completely forgot to tell u (or did i??/ still have brain fog)- that Royal Jelly is good for Grave's. there's a study from Turkey on Pubmed about it really helping. i was buying it at whole foods- and felt like it was calming me- but it was really expensive. it's cheaper if u buy it in a product that combines royal jelly, honey, and ginseng. but...
  20. i dont know- but very interested. the only thing i know about salt and thyroid is that a BIG SALT CRAVING can be indicative of Hypothyroid.
  21. what is DF SF? (dairy & soy free?).. ive been eating her frozen gluten-free rice mac& cheese- and i dont think ive been glutened. ive had some intestinal turmoil- but i also react to dairy & corn
  22. i have "gluten light" symptoms from many of those gluten free breads... dont know if it's potato starch, tapioca starch, or all of the other substitutes in there- i also have gluten symptoms from corn. i really have to keep my grains/starches to a MINIMUM... rice & quinoa dont seem to bother me .. the reactions are TOTALLY similar- however- they...
  23. soy specifically aggravates the Grave's antibodies. and many online say it aggravates the entire thyroid. you sound like you definitely have thyroid disease- its so common for pregnancy to really set it off. some autoimmune diseases are quieted while pregnant, but i think pregnancy is a lot of hard work for a thyroid- so very common. with all the...
  24. im sorry you're suffering so much. im also posting here, cause i'd like to be notified everytime someone replies to you. i have a friend with RA, she's 22, and im trying to find info on gluten free diets for her. i also have Hashimoto's & Grave's, and can totally relate to feeling like its "ruining my life". i TOO am hoping that being gluten free...
  25. its so complicated. i think we get acid reflux with LOW stomach acid- because that esophageal sphincter may loosen when you have LOW stomach acid- and then the little acid you have escapes up into the esophagus. in theory- if the stomach has adequate stomach acid- then that sphincter would naturally clamp down to keep the acid inside. does that make sense...
