  1. i think its called Psoriatic Arthritis. i have a client who has that AND Psoriasis in patches all over his body- he thinks he has a Candida problem but says he has no problem with wheat. (??? WHAT??? and im just a massage therapist- so i kind of have to keep my dietary comments to myself) and then there's that Professional Golfer who just got diagnosed...
  2. Love your story... these poor docs, they just cant think out of the box
  3. hhmmm.. i just looked up that glutenease .. idk.. i DID used to take their DigestGold (with digestive enzymes)... but ya- i THINK they explain in the fine print- that it helps alleviate symptoms but that it does not protect someone that is celiac. i THINK it MAY help break it up- so it's easier to digest- however our antibodies will still recognize...
  4. coffee can be a HUGE irritant to the intestines (for some people). im addicted to it now- and cant go to the bathroom without it. but when i first started drinking it- (or if i overdo it in one day)- i get MAJOR "D"... and pain. i also get queasy if i overdo it. so, the coffee could be irritating you- or even the milk in it. i THINK the only possibility...
  5. you can be sickest in the mornings even with celiac. also your stomach is usally more acidic in the morning. for 2 years when i was a teenager- i would almost throw up EVERY morning.. after eating a huge bowl of raisin bran with wheat germ, oj, and a banana. one day my Dad came into the bathroom and asked if i was PREGNANT!!!!!!! how embarrasing.
  6. i have a hiatal hernia too... im sure bloating can contribute to pushing the stomach up- and that pressure could maybe cause that esophageal flap to open. i DO know from my own experience that Wheat/Gluten weakens that flap- and then causes the acid reflux. everything should improve with you being gluten free now. but those proton pump inhibitors will...
  7. i dont know about misdiagnosis of Celiac vs. RA.. but you're not way off base on a possible connection. i have heard over and over in the last year how most people have more than one autoimmune disease. it's very common to have 2 or 3! BUT its not always like that either. The Genes have to be there for the possibility of the autoimmune disease to be triggered...
  8. how old is your daughter?? im asking, because- as an adult- i've done a lot of dieting. and now, ive finally gathered enough info to know that some of the diet foods ive eaten cause bloating and "D". anything with Sorbitol, Malitol, Mannitol, etc... (even just chewing the gum!!) also, SOMETIMES dairy gives me "D". and if i've had too much tea or coffee...
  9. great info above. and please keep looking on this forum- there's a lot of great information to help you- for example- lots of other things to avoid for now- maybe dairy, maybe even all grains just for now also- your numbness/tingling and anxiety sounds like B12 deficiency (VERY COMMON in Celiacs)-> ask your doc to test your B12 & D ... then...
  10. you definitely have the genetic predisposition... but what about any blood tests???? and 5 surgeries???? omg, im so sorry- what a pain

im sorry- but if you've been taking omeprazole for 3 years and now you're taking prilosec-> you probably have a stomach that doesnt make adequate stomach acid to digest and absorb food. the stuff can literally shut down your stomach. you could still get heartburn/reflux- which is not from excess stomach acid- it's from that esophageal flap opening up-...
  12. OH- if they could make them special for you- gluten-free- then that would be a great idea- and freeze some ... YUMMM my dad made meatballs for my birthday with gluten free bread crumbs- they were DELISH. but i LOVE my red meat.
  13. is it possible at all, for those of us who are not getting CC or abdominal symptoms.... when getting the DH AFTER going gluten free-> is it possible that its a form of detoxing??? like the body is trying to purge any left over gluten proteins?? cause well- i THINK i had DH almost a year ago on my forearm, not sure. and now that ive been gluten free...
  14. lots of things can make your joints hurt besides wheat and gluten. nightshades can inflame your joints, soy can for some. and also for some people- dairy puts their body in an acidic state which pulls the calcium from the bones. for me and my family-> we've all noticed wheat & gluten & potatoes worsening our joints. ive been 100% gluten free...
  15. no no no no- it is not gonna heal your hiatal hernia- it will only make it worse. seriously. Nexium and other strong meds are only good if you're right in the middle of an ulcer- otherwise- the stuff is awful. a hiatal hernia is an anatomical issue- proper diet IN COMBINATION with gravity & relaxation & reducing the stress in your life... plus...
  16. Cheryl- you can still get your iron in beef, lamb, dark turkey, eggs, and cultured soy, spinach. but i understand the frustration- i bet souvlaki (sp?) is delish. i get the Shortness of Breath too!!!! ive seen it on the forum before- ive had it off and on for 27 years. ive only been gluten free 100% for over 2 months. i hope it goes away soon FOREVER!...

oops. sorry. ya, not too much you can do about anatomy and the stomach being pushed up. if pregnant tho- all the more reason to not take meds.
  18. OMG! she had a + blood test and a + biopsy- and because she didnt have DQ2 or DQ8- the doc dismissed it all??????? Lord have mercy.... craziness... insanity... how come we know more than so many of these docs?? wow

we've been discussing prilosec and other proton pump inhibitors lately- here's one of the threads: im not preaching- i did in fact take a little Zantac months ago- within a 2 week period because i had an ulcer. but- the best thing you can do is change your diet and lifestyle and habits- to avoid the GERD...and if you have to take something...
  20. ?? should it be combined with anything for better absorption?? i have a Vit.D/Calcium/Magnesium combo pill. i really dont know enough about D... so i guess keep checking with your doc till you get it up in range
  21. it's tough to tell... i think some companies put that on their label purely as a legality issue.. even if the risk is very very slim... i agree with Skylark-> i bet there's A LOT more CC in a bag of oats... (or even a bag of Soy Flour) idk... i still buy some frozen foods like Amy's ... but there's been other times where i see the "wheat facility...
  22. maybe you made the right decision for now. at 18 months- arent their brains still growing and developing?? and gluten can be a neurotoxin. maybe when he's a little older- you might want a challenge & a test... or not. but do what you need to do- mothers usually know better than docs.
  23. i totally want to get this book: Open Original Shared Link i was tested for Lupus for a couple of years when i was a teen. and Sjorgens. i really wish these doctors would open their mind a little bit more- i mean if someone's got a few tests or symptoms that suggest an autoimmune disease-> and you test for 2 of them over and over- and it's...
  24. its weird, i know- but i totally believe it. my reactions to gluten are NOT always the same- and NOT always noticeable. your experience is no surprise to me at all. when i used to eat gluten- reactions varied, digestive ailments varied, location of excema or psoraisis varied, it was always different. sometimes a tiny amount here and there wouldnt bother me...
  25. oh good! i just bought my first loaf at WFs. its in my freezer unopened... looking forward to it
