  1. Wow, I have to do some research on this myself. I also have the drooping eye lid. It's also on the right side. Of course, everytime you go to the doctor, it's not there, so they think, you're making this up. I also have muscle weakness to a certain degree. The last few years before I received my diagnosis the muscle weakness was really bad. Then it disappeared...
  2. Just because you can't see God, do you believe, he's not there? Just because they don't have proof, you do believe, their tests are not valid? I personally heard a lot of good stuff about them. I don't have health insurance either. And when I get my new job in September, I will get some tests done over them, cause I will still not have health insurance...
  3. Wow, glutenfree cookies used to be so yucky not even animals would touch them. I guess, we came a loooong way
  4. Hi Rachel, I know, what bekkaz meant, when she said, it is a bs diagnosis. She doesn't exactly mean, that our pain and our disease isn't real. It is very real. What she means (I think) is, that the diagnosis of vulvodynia (or vestibulitis) is a mis-term kind of, just like IBS a mis-term is. That's what I meant, when I send you the link. I don't know, if...
  5. Have no idea, what everybody is talking about, but it sounds interesting. I just observed something today (or actually the entire week already), that does not have anything to do with the current topic. I just took some of my glutenfree cookies, that Luky and I had made about a week ago out of the refrigerator and put them on our countertop. And with the...
  6. I don't really know, what to say here, because everyone is reacting different with their gluten problem. All I can say is, in the beginning, when my whole problems started, yes, I did have good days and bad days with pretty much the same amount of gluten. Another thing, that is odd, that there are also people, who apparently have celiac disease and show no...
  7. Actually I think, there's even one of those "for dummies"-books out there for glutenfree... not sure though.
  8. Dear Dana, there's a partial glutenfree list out there of mainstream glutenfree foods. However to my knowledge the list hasn't been updated since 2005. Which is not necessarily bad, however, if in a food on that list the ingredients changed, there might now be gluten in it. So, if in doubt, just leave it out, or call the manufacturer. It's this list...
  9. I think, that's a great idea, we should try it. Stef
  10. I'm sure, you will do fine. Most of the people, who gained some weight, were underweight to begin with and just bounced back to their "normal" weight after diagnosis. And most of the people, who were overweight, got some pounds off. Yes, you should also keep eating gluten, until you're done with testing. If the test should be negative for one reason or...
  11. Holy crap to the entire subject!!! I had no idea something like this exists. I just thought I was a weirdo. And because of the matter of this subject, naturally you're not talking about it much. Man, if I would have known this 3 years ago, I'd still be married today. Do you know, if there's a good doctor for this in Pennsylvania? I did some research and it...
  12. Just wanted to say the same thing. It takes courage to eat out with our problem. It took me years to do it. Just remember with every mistake you make you will come closer to your goal to not make any mistakes anymore. Good luck, Stef
  13. Haha, funny, they should charge for diagnosing people. Or at least putting them onto the right track.
  14. There is a company out there, that makes glutenfree finger food for toddlers. I can't remember their name to save my life at this point. It's a long tube about 8 inches tall and a fist around in diameter approximately. They are very yummy. Lukas loved those, when he was around 15 months. Then what I did was. I got out those cookie christmas cutters and cut...
  15. I'm so glad, we could give you some hope. I hope you are doing better in no time. Of course, we are always here for you. So feel free to pop any questions or like many of us, just stay, because it's fun to talk to people who have the same problem. You don't feel quite that alone in our big glutenized world and still just a few rare sufferers (compared to...
  16. So true, so true, whenever you go to Amy's, let me know. I met have the time to join you. I'm thinking about Amy's at least twice a week now, cause I haven't been there in ages and would love to go again. It's true, Wegman's is cheaper than the Appalachian Food Store. I never thought I'd say that, but it's true for the gluten products. And I like their...
  17. Wow, I can't believe this whole story has been over two years ago. Well... if you reread those posts, I mentioned, that my ex might get sick of Lukas with this work schedule and him basically never getting a break. Soooo, he never actually got sick of Luky, but I also know why. Around the time when I left the board due to time issues, March 2008, another...
  18. I have to add some glutenfree stuff from Carlisle, since I used ot live there for quite a while. Now I live 12 miles up north from Carlisle, but still go there at least once a week. Here it goes: Rillo's Italian Restaurant offers glutenfree menus. According to the waitress they also do have glutenfree pasta. And even though I eat there once per week, I...
  19. I've had the same problem. Got diagnosed in 2004, 5 days before my 28th birthday. Couldn't get pregnant until November 2006. I was 30.5 years at that point, so it took me a while. I had a dream pregnancy, just speaking of being nauseous. I only really had an about two week period, where I felt a little blah, but nothing worth mentioning. I slightly spit a...
  20. I was not in denial at all, because I had very severe symptoms and was glad, that I was like 'healed' in the end, just by going on the glutenfree diet. The reason I'm answering to this post, is that I'm a Martial Artist myself and I was wondering how active you are. I'm traveling all over the world with the WKA and next year I am doing the American NASKA...
  21. I never had a problem with the Frappes listed, but then again I've never been to a cafe location (what is that? never heard of it!), just the normal McDonald's. Stef
  22. I found everything said here should help you out a great deal. I'm surprised, nobody mentioned EnteroLab with their stool tests. www.enterolab.com Stef
  23. I totally have to agree. I'm not a weightlifter. I'm a martial artist for life. Before my diagnoses I had real bad problems. I gained muscles, but slowly and very lean. And even if I would take one day break I ruined everything. Now I'm actually able to keep some of my muscleas, even though I'm not working out everyday anymore, which is more of a toddler...
  24. Yes, it definitely attacks the brain. In 2003, when I was still in Germany, the last month before I moved to the US, I had already packed up my stuff and moved into my best friend's appartment for a while. She actually saw me running into a wall at one point and was like "What's going on, are you alright?" I was so relieved, that there actually was somebody...
