  1. My 12 year old son's favorite fast food place is Taco Bell. Since I have to go a lot with him, I always have the bean tostadas and the rice. I have never had a problem and I am sensitive.
  2. I just found this site while searching gluten-free recipes and thought I would share since so many of us need cheap/healthy recipes: Open Original Shared Link ***just found one of her recipes included French bread! Yikes! But still worth taking a look at***
  3. Thanks for all of your quick posts-as you could sense I am desperate! I have eliminated so much that I feel like there is not much left! I know that is not true but, for a peanut freak it sure feels like it! I looked up Sunbutter sample and they are currently giving away 1.5 pkgs. If you need to sample it here is your chance b-4 you buy. Just send...

    ARCHIVED Nuts!

I have been gluten-free for over a year and a 1/2 and I have been doing an elimination diet for nuts. Well, it seems along with peanuts that I also have almonds as a foe. My question is what do you substitute for nuts? I am a nut fanatic, espcially since I don't do sugar so, I eat peanut butter-crunchy. How truly decent are the other nut butters?...
  6. He knows how to cook. After living with a husband who had to be taught everything, I taught them side by side a few years ago. Thank you for all of your helpful replies, I know this was going to open a can of worms but I truley just wanted some helpful replies.
  7. Does anyone know how I can test regular spagetti for doneness? Obviously, I can't bite it and do the "to the teeth" test. My son likes the regular pasta better-he is not celiac but, he does like the Annies gluten-free Mac and cheese-go figure! How can I test his pasta to be sure it is cooked? I thought I was doing an okay job by sight alone but, yesterday...
  8. I usually go with leftovers from dinner the night before. I make enough at night so there are leftovers and put it in a plastic container in the refrig. I zap it in the micro. the next day and it is great! That way I know it is gluten-free, weight friendly, and cost effective.
  9. That may be very true but, it makes me wonder also. I hope others chime in on this issue. My Dad was diagnosed with colon cancer 2 yrs. ago. Currently, he has had to undergo a full colostomy and wears the dreaded bag. He is 80 yrs. old and I often wonder if he had made a diet change earlier if it would have helped him.
  10. My very favorite crowd pleasing recipe before going gluten-free was this Spinach and Orzo Salad. I need a salad to feed a large group. What do you think about substituting rice for the Orzo pasta? I wonder if it will absorb too much dressing and I don't have time to try it out. 1 16 oz. pkg uncooked orzo (sub. rice?) 3/4 c. pine nuts 1 ...
  11. Hopefully I don't have another weird bodily fuction, but prior to going gluten-free and since, about 1 1/2 yrs. my stomach gurgles loudly. This is almost always at night, when I finally lay down to read, watch t.v., or just sleep. Please, tell me that this is normal for us and maybe someone smart can tell me why this happens. (This happens when there is...
  12. I agree, I just pop it with a sterilized pin. I know it might not be the best thing but, chewing on it and rubbing my tongue over it aren't good either. My dentist once told me they are trapped saliva bubles. I had an infected saliva gland once, under my tongue and it felt a lot like these bubbles.
  13. Thanks for all your replies. I looked up the yogurt crockpot idea and it does exist!! I'm trying it tomorrow. Here is the link: Open Original Shared Link
  14. I would like to start making my own yogurt and I have looked at several websites with instructions and recipes. Does anyone use a yogurt machine? If so, what brand? I was also toying with trying to make yogurt without the machine. Any thoughts?
  15. I was just wondering the same thing. I had a few sips of OJ and felt naucious for the rest of the day. I'm not usually and OJ drinker-I drink V-8 so, I had never noticed. Is this a celiac thing or an allergy/intolerance thing? Anyone?
  16. I had the beef in a cup in Dec. and had no ill effects. However, I am not super-sensitive.
  17. Greg- You are obviously a very caring and giving person to be conserned about others during this stressful time in your life. I will keep you in my prayers. Please write me if you just need to vent or are frustrated. I am a two time cancer survivor and I know how getting that diagnosis feels.
  18. Chrissy-I use to seal in the mosture to my skin after I shower. I use Spectrum Oganic Coconut oil. I scoop some out of teh bottle, let it warm in my hands, and apply it to my skin. I started doing this last year because I saw this "young 70" year old woman with the skin of a 20 yr. old. Oprah asked what she did and she said she never leaves the house without...
  19. Went into Earthfare and they have a new gluten-free pizza. It comes in three different flavors but, it is $11.49 for a 12" pizza. Before I lay out the cash, as I have been unhappy more times than not, has anyone tried any of these flavors yet?
  20. Okay! Now we need a recipes for Biscuits and Sausage gravy. Bob's Red Mill gluten-free biscuit mix and....
  21. Taco Bell-my 12 yr. old's favorite fast food place. I get 2 bean tostatas and rice. I have never had a reaction.
  22. This sounds like the brain fog I have felt most of my life. I actually have "pretended" to remember funny situations or gatherings, that I have no memory of taking place. I truely don't remember my honeymoon in Aruba!! When I went totally gluten-free, I was able to remember things that have happened since going gluten-free but, the previous memories have...
  23. Use the My assistant, then search tab, then fill the box in with Sami's. I know that I asked about it when I was new.
  24. I have learned the hard way to look at the calorie count in gluten-free foods. I was just so happy to be able to eat something, I never looked!
  25. Took me less than a minute to send the thank you. I hope a lot of others will do the same. I think it's important we acknowledge any main stream co. for helping us!
