  1. I think the disease is starting to gain a foothold in the non gluten-free world. I just had a survey where celiac was on the list of diseases they were asking about. This was a regular question, on a "normal" survey of basic health issues! Also, supposingly Betty Crocker mixes are going gluten-free, that is encouraging. When you do feel like going out...
  2. I have had this for years, before going gluten-free and it is still a staple. It fills me up until lunch. It is a simple smoothie; 1 Tbs. of peanut butter 1 c. skim milk 1 banana Blend it. Pour it. Drink it.
  3. I love my crock pot and you can google several sites that carry neat recipes. I subscribe to a site that drops a recipe in my inbox each day. It's free and the recipes are good. It is Chet's Crock, just go to the website and subscribe. Open Original Shared Link
  4. I have had three different people approach me about using these new Juice Plus vitamin suppliments. None of the people are pushy but, I am a little leary about their claim that most people don't absorb regular "pill" form vitamins. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks-
  5. I get it when I sleep on one side or the other-down that sides arm. It is very annoying. I looked it up on the web and it was stated that it is a blood-flow problem. SUPPOSINGLY, a chiropractor can make an adjustment in your upper neck and fix it. I have had too many other medical problems going on right now to test the theory out. Good luck, it is a pain...
  6. Remember, in a pinch, there are always banana's at Starbucks! I have had some pretty decent fruit at airports and that with hot green tea is always soothing.
  7. Thanks for link Jessica-I'm typing with my gloves on right now!!!
  8. Momma Goose-you are the coolest! I was just worrying about being in the hospital and being glutened.
  9. At least they are trying to be supportive! I know it doesn't help much but, there are a lot of us that are still battling to have people understand. Have you started charting your food reactions? I found that even after a year some things still get me, i.e. nuts, soy, potatoes. Maybe you aren't full on allergic to them but, you do have intolerances. ...
  10. I went to a local, Charlotte, luncheon for my celiac group and we descended apon Uno's restaurant-all 68 of us. I had the cheese pizza on their gluten-free menu. It was okay. The crust was really flacky and kind of dry and it needed to have more sauce. However, I wrote them thanking them for their attention to the allergy community. I think it is important...
  11. This is the only sandwich I could keep down while I was on chemo. I would love to make it again- I have Kinnikinnick buns and they tend to fall apart. I have been doing away with most sandwiches becuase of it. How are the Ener-g rolls and where do you shop for them?
  12. Welcome to the site! You are going to be amazed at what you read! Everyone understands where you are coming from and remember if in doubt ASK. Someone will know!
  13. We are a "mixed" house also. I do the big main dinner meal gluten-free but, my son and my husband graze on gluten food most of the day. However, my 12 yr. old has started ordering gluten-free food from Carraba's, P.F. Changs, etc. since Mom can have some too! IMHO most people have different tolerance levels and they need to find what is right for their family...
  14. My son's favorite fast food place is Taco Bell. When I take him there I get 2 bean tostadas and the rice side. Not the best meal I've ever had but at least I can take my son out to lunch. I have never had a problem however, I can see how other's can.
  15. We just got the gluten-free menu at our Uno's in CLT, NC. I called them to confirm that they carry the gluten-free pizza-I guess some don't. I am so excited that they have it! Then I went on their website and if you sign-up for their customer list you get a Free appetizer. I don't know if there are any gluten-free appetizer's but, I always go with non-gluten...
  16. I think it is the smell that still get's me-I have been gluten-free for over a year. I like Glutino pizza crusts, closest to the one's you know, and since I don't have a lot of time to bake-I just don't do a lot of bread. Every so often, I will try a new pre-made one but, you do lose your need for it after a while. (and I was a bread addict!) Sorry this...
  17. The Everyday mineral site is useless when I want to find info. on how to clean my brushes. Are the rest of you using shampoo on just the bristles and letting it air dry? I don't want to mess-up a good brush.
  18. Is this meeting with the same group of salespeople each time? The first few times my sales group had lunch together, they asked if they were sitting by me, and then the rumor spread. I just addressed it as, "I'm allergic to wheat" and they never bother me after that. I think sales people are supposed to go with the flow and mimic customers eating habits...
  19. In my OPINION, I feel like my gluten sensitivity is like yo-yo dieting. Before I decided to go gluten-free competely over a year ago, I too tested myself a few times. With yo-yo dieting the weight comes off slower each time. When you backslide after a diet, you gain just a little more weight then the last time you dieted. It also takes longer to come off...

  21. Thank you for clearing that up. I was eating Activia everyday and then had the "rain barrell" effect after eating it for weeks. I guess it was just building-up in my system and finally reached the breaking point. Gluten labeling is so sneaky-I read it and it looked okay-live and learn!
  22. I love Sweet Baby Ray's Sauce. I use it instead of tomato sauce on pizza, believe me try it! Use a Kinikinnik or Glutino's crust, tomatos, chicken, and cheese. It is delicious!!
  23. **UPDATE** Sorry, if I scared anybody but, I think everyone has to try even the gluten-free items for themselves to see if they have a reaction. I blindly ate gluten-free items thinking I was doing the right thing and never really thought that I would get sick. Our community seems to run the spectrum from gas/bloating to full on upheaval for days. I...
  24. My test for beginning to heal was milk. I was able to drink it without a reaction in about 6 months. I am also gluten-free intolerant, not diagnosed celiac. You need to be pretty strict with yourself and eat "clean" foods until then. Figure on June/July to re-test yourself with the dairy. However, everyone is different, as stated previously. I just know...
  25. No way am I being glutened by gluten-free pretzels, but the grumbling in my tummy told me otherwise last night. However, I am kinda dense so, I tried them again today and I got the full glutening! Anyone else have this reaction? I really liked these too!
