ARCHIVED Carrabba's And Other Restaurants
digmom1014 replied to jjc's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I have never had a problem with the soup. The Carraba's by my house adds or doesn't add the noodles to each persons soup separately. I always have the Chicken Marsala, which is delicious. Can anyone suggest something they have liked from that menu? I get stuck in a rut! I know that item is good and I won't get sick so, I re-run it over and over. -
I have tinnitus in both ears-from a medical treatment, 20 yrs ago- I just found some new information that I have been trying. The first is to take 120mg Gingko Biloba, they say to take it for two months, before you to see any relief. (just started, to early to say) The second is just massaging your head and neck. I actually tried this and mine lessoned...

ARCHIVED Eliminate What?
digmom1014 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have been gluten-free for over a year and have enjoyed much better health however, in the last week I conitually do something to myself that feels like I have been glutened. I know that I am eating carefully and think it must be another food item that is causing the problems. Can someone tell em how long to eliminate a food and which are the top few... -
A very gluten-free savy waiter at Chang's told me that their code in the kitchen for gluten-free food is on round plates the non-gluten-free version is on square plates. I live in Charlotte, NC. However, I got caught on the Singapore Street Noodles once too. (before I knew the round/square trick) They served me plate with a shaker full of what looks like...

Maybe I should try the B-12/ Mag shots too. I take the oral B-12. Does a dr. administer your shots?

Mother of Jibril--- I am so happy for you! I was thinking about you a lot. I know that must have be scary for you to have to make that wait. Waiting is the hardest part! I didn't want to write before since you weren't sure and didn't have a clear diagnosis. I was nervous when you mentioned the elevated white count. A CBC w/platelet differencial is...

Has anyone else experienced whole periods of time that you can't remember? I have people all the time saying to me, remember when we did this or that....but I don't really remember the incident. I probably have been gluten allergic my whole life but had the added "brain fog" from the chemotheraphy I had several years ago. Is anyone elses "brain fog...

"Another thought is after switching to gluten free mascara,my eyes stopped itching and were no longer red. You just never know." Okay, give it up on the brand of gluten-free mascara you use. I never thought that was the reason my eyes were red!! I definately have a Gluten allergy and can't use products with gluten on my skin. I never had DH but, when...

digmom1014 replied to anerissara's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This made me laugh so hard I slobbered all over the keyboard! 3.)I have not found a pre-made cookie that actually tasted like a cookie. Includes; Nana's, Pamela's, and Trader Joe's Ginger Snaps. 2.)Corn pasta-that is what their gluten-free pasta is a Miaggiano's restaurant and the excelent sauce couldn't even cover it up! 1.)Dr. McDougal's split pea... -
I am originally from Chicago and used the Pantry mix for pizza and loved the chewy dough. However, I was supposed to make two pizza's and just lined an 9 x 11 casserole with the whole dough, baked it and added toppings. Very good and non-gluten eater's loved it also.

Don't know if you have a CVS nearby but, ours acts as a nurse practitioner does. They can perscribe meds and do some testing. It might be a cheaper alternative to look into. -
ARCHIVED Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
digmom1014 replied to digmom1014's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Thanks for all of the quick replies! I too use the Fructis Sleek adn Shiny and never had a problem until now. (gluten-free for 11 months) I seem to be discovering new "allergies" at this point. I'm also trying to narrow down why my stomach is sticking out again-I think it may be sugar but, I haven't ruled out any of the other usual suspects. (i.e. corn... -
ARCHIVED Daughter Made A Betty Crocker Cake
digmom1014 replied to 1morething's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't know if it was psychosomatic in your case or not but, this is what happened to me... My 12 yr. old son decided he wanted "blood" smeared on his shirt for Halloween and I carefully put reg. flour, water, and red food coloring in a bowl. I put on disposable gloves and proceeded to apply the "blood". Well, I was sick for several days. I think it was... -
Hi- My scalp has not been itchy since going gluten-free and switching to Fructis-a non-wheat containing shampoo. In the last week my scalp has become painfully sore, tight, and kinda itchy. Anyway I had it looked at and their was no underlying causes that the dr. could see so, they thought it my the Sodium Laurel Sulfate in my shampoo. I guess they use...

ARCHIVED Tingling In Feet
digmom1014 replied to milelj's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have had Reynaud's syndrome for years-starts with a tingling in feet and then the blood flow is gone, white & numbness. I also get it in my fingers. However, the longer I am gluten-free, the better it gets. I am 8 months now. I don't have a link for Reynaud's, but it is easy to google. I guess it is well documented. -

digmom1014 replied to bakingbarb's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Throw me in with the sick from Millet group!! When I was first gluten-free in Jan. A real nice lady at Earthfare was helping me navigate through the available eats here and had me buy the Sam's Bakery Millet bread and wraps. Did not work for me, and I had a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact I had other allergies too! Going gluten-free was very... -
Went to this new fast food fish joint that opened here in Charlotte, NC. They didn't have a gluten-free menu but, the manager was very knowledgeable and he directed me. They had a lot of different dishes both fish and chicken. I had the shrimp skewers w/o the spice added, the spice is not gluten-free and rice and mushrooms. As my side I had grilled zucchini...

"I have 2 main suspects, gum and coca-cola. Both are supossed to be gluten free, but my stomach says otherwise. Like others have said, the distension is my best measure of having been glutened." Yes, both are known bloaters for me. The gas in the pop is a bloater and the air extra air you swallow with gum is also bad. I have also added using straws... -

My new teritory is in SC and I spotted a new grocery store called Bloom in Ft. Mill. They had a huge, the best I've seen in a "normal" grocery store, selection on gluten-free foods. (both fresh and frozen) I spent $40 dollars and they gave me $10.00 off-free Pamela's!! I looked up their website and they are located in VA, MD, SC, and NC.
