ARCHIVED Gluten Free Gravy
digmom1014 replied to Mommy2Many's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I use cornstarch to thicken gravey too but, I drop a T of it in a cup of warm water and pre-mix it before I put it in the pan. That seems to help the gunky build-up. -

digmom1014 replied to KahleFamily's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thanks! Does sound 'amazing" I assume the secret is using the fresh pumpkin. The Food Network cooks are always harping on fresh ingredients-I guess I'll see this year! -
Give yourself a break! You are still so new to this. At 6 mo. I really started to feel better and also started to get a handle on the gluten-free lifestyle. Also, the cravings for non-gluten-free foods started to get better. I am almost 2 yrs. gluten-free and still occasionally gluten myself at restaurants. Fortunately, you will have an arsinal of self...

ARCHIVED Very Cheap Gluten Free Food!
digmom1014 replied to Chalula88's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Just wondering, why are people not eating the breaded meats in the allergy free box? Are they not gluten-free and the box is for other allergies? I mean do they target specific allergies and not target the gluten-free community? -
I found this site for all wild game meats-Open Original Shared Link Good luck!

ARCHIVED Hello From Chicago
digmom1014 replied to Scotty J's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Welcome to the board! As another former Chicagoan and South Elgin resident you have got it made. There are some great health food stores in Geneva and even Little Travelors in Geneva has a great gluten-free section. Of course, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods are all over and let me suggest trying the Glutino pizza duo pizza-the crust is great! There is... -
ARCHIVED Your Favorite Throw-together Dinner
digmom1014 replied to miles2go's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Whatever I make when I feel like cooking I make double of, and freeze the other 1/2 or in individual portions. I haven't had many meals that don't freeze well, and I am not that picky if the texture is a little different. (i.e. I make a double batch of rice with chicken and veggie, Manwich, quiches, brownies, tomato sauce, chili, ground beef taco meat, chicken... -
As a quick fix for your DH, since you can't see a derm. I have used foot cream for atheletes foot. It worked for me taking the itch out when I was away from home.

digmom1014 replied to NorthernElf's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
"I use gluten ease for every meal I eat out. before that I was getting cc reactions at least 4 out of 5 times. Now almost never. I can't even remember the last time I had a problem." What is this? Where can I get some? I have to eat out for my job, and could really use this. Put me down for Bonefish-I'm not sure what got me but, it was aweful... -
ARCHIVED Sherry Pecan Cake (using Betty Crocker Cake Mix)
digmom1014 replied to CalicoSue's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
For all of you bakers, the gluten-free Betty Crocker cake mix works well with the Cake Mix Doctor cookbook. It is so nice to have coffee cake again! The bake times are tricky though, I use the temp. suggested and about 15 min. before the required bake time I start looking at the cake. -
I alway use Lancome-defincils mascara and never had a problem with red-eyes since! However, at $22.00 a tube it is an expense. I would like to try the new Lash Blast by covergirl, has anyone tried it? I called P&G and they don't see any gluten or fragrance added to it, however I'm still leary since I don't know other additives to look for. Thanks-

ARCHIVED Thoughts On Canned Chick Peas (garbanzos)
digmom1014 replied to The Fluffy Assassin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I made hummous with the new Walmart white label brand of garbanzo beans. (the new white label looks similiar to the old generic label in the 70's-remember the green line?!) Anyway, I feel fine and these were very cheap! -
ARCHIVED Please Help- Mexican Food- What Is Safe Eating Out?
digmom1014 replied to arkoflove's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I usually go with the bean tostada, rice, and re-fried beans. The tosada's are usually okay-I haven't had a problem with them frying them. However, you have to ask. I used to do the old-standby fajitas and request corn torilla's but, they can put toppings on the shrimp or chicken and veggies. So, I try to stay as true to ingrediants I know are safe and have... -
ARCHIVED Does This Look Like Dh?
digmom1014 replied to jshelton999's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Doesn't look like mine either, mine itches, has fluid filled raised bumps and has a hard red underlying cyst. As it heals-it scabs and bleeds. However, I did find something that made it go away a little faster-in about a week. I googled some old stuff I had-pre-diagnosis that is no longer sold in the U.S. It actually was simliar to athlete's foot cream... -

ARCHIVED Bowel Incontinence
digmom1014 replied to Lynayah's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Definately! Especially when I get into glutten somehow. I have been gluten-free for almost 2 yrs. and it still happen's occasionally. Give yourself a chance to heal and check for hidden gluten in your foods. I also recently have started doing kegel excercises-you know the one's your supposed to do to get your muscle tone back after pregnancy. I read somewhere...
