  1. In Charlotte the pad thai is not on the menu-I wish it was. I always have a good meal at Bonefish. Usually the fish of the day, ceasar salad (ask for clean bowl), and of course the ice cream brownie!
  2. Just got a note back from y_lp.com I had suggested that you search under gluten free and the city/state and get help from others in that area on places to eat/shop. Well-they just added a search criteria, and I just tested it and it worked! Score one for us!! They must have spammed this board, because I got a lame advertisement fill-in.
  3. Thanks, can always use another tuna recipe.
  4. Oh please share the breakfast cookie if you make it! I have one of Elana's almond flour muffins every morning with fruit. These freeze well but, I need a change of pace!
  5. Thank you for posting this-I had read about them on another web site and wondered if they were good. We get to NY about once a year and I'll definately look them up.
  6. I have been gluten-free for over 2 1/2 yrs. and my nails have definately gotten better. However, I was watching a Dr. Oz show about unusual beauty tips throughout the world and I tried the following: cut-up a clove of garlic and add it to your clear nail polish. (use as a basecoat)I have been using it for about three weeks and it seems to help. It does have...
  7. The website is: Open Original Shared Link I think a great site to help make people aware of the struggles/triumphs of people living life this way. Every vote helps!
  8. Give yourself a break! You have not been on the diet long-I saw you joined in April. It took me almost 1 yr. to get the leaky gut under semi-control and I still have my bad days. Stick to "clean" foods right now and stay away from lactose for now. The probiotics are a good start & make sure you drink water to help things flow easier.
  9. Thanks Scott-I must have missed this one. I have had luck with several of Elana's recipes and I am trying to add more fish into my diet.
  10. As far as the bloating goes, are you still drinking milk? Some newly diagnosed people initally have trouble digesting dairy. I believe that the tips of the villi are the last to heal. For me I could re-introduce milk at about the 6 mo. mark.
  11. Give yourself a chance to heal and get used to the in's and out's of the gluten-free world. I have been gluten-free for 2.5 years and it was scary and very overwelming at first. I eat out a lot for my job. One thing that helped me, was downloading and printing out various gluten-free menu's and keeping them in a binder in my car. That way I was never without...
  12. You are not crazy, I was cc'd by M&M's too. (but, I didn't have the guts to post it) I have had them many times in the past 2 yrs. with no problem but, last week-the reaction was yucky & a definate glutening.
  13. I agree with Tiffany on this one. It has not been long enough for those folks who care about you to see you feeling well. Once you feel more comfortable ordering/picking a resturant, others will too. Several different friends now even say, let's go to this place they have a great gluten free menu. (I have been gluten-free 2 1/2 yrs.)
  14. That was a classic!! Does anyone remember the how to link this new fun on your Facebook page. I was so excited to have gotten thru, I didn't have my "listening cap" on.
  15. Welcome Back Stef-I was a newbie on the board when you left and several of your posts helped me a lot during that crazy "am I doing this right?" time.
  16. LOL!!! Do not have any sugar-it makes more gas for me. I also have found basic rice and noodles best-you may gain weight but, you won't stink!!
  17. Quick addtion to what GFLindsey said about the lunch sandwiches. I make my son's sandwiches on a square of aluminum foil and then wrap the foil around it. That way all the crumbs stay in the alumnium foil. My son and husband eat gluten-free dinners each night. There is so much variety and they eat healthier that way too!
  18. I had posted this earlier and did it right after the show aired. It didn't get any responces-therefore it was off the board! Magpie, I was ranting too! REGULAR FLOUR-what was that?! Two of her opponents used gluten-free items. One dregged in corn flour, the other sauted. Okay, the corn flour wasn't certified gluten-free but, she still could have sauted...
  19. I've found that if you do a single serve of pasta, always have it mixed in the sauce before you freeze it. Also, a little under cook it and when you heat it up in the micro add a touch of water and offset the cover. I always cook this way and freeze leftovers of rice dishes, pasta dishes, veggies, etc. to pull-out later. It is so economical & I know...
  20. OMG!! As a teacher we have several inservice training sessions regarding privacy laws in general. I myself was taught to deal with allergies in the classroom, i.e. how to use an Epi pen over ten years ago. You are taught never to disclose personnel information on a student. (PERIOD!!) Are you in a state with a union? Our teachers union is very strong...
  21. Anyone one see the Chopped from last night? I was very excited to see a celiac chef in the competition. The basket that she had to work with was all naturally gluten-free products. (Frog legs, anchovies, bourbon, & dates) The 1st step she made was to bread frog legs in REGULAR FLOUR! Now, I understand that this is a cooking show but, she used tapioca...
  22. I've also had great luck when ordering their brushetta chicken sandwich on lettuce wrap with the garlic/parmesan fries. These are a delicious treat for me!!
  23. I stumbled upon the Dr. Atkin's Quick & Easy New Diet Cookbook going thru a box of books at a yard sale. Quite a few of the recipes are gluten-free, as he uses whole foods. The breads section is off limits but, the rest are good. At a $1.00, it is a nice way to add easy new ideas to my ususal weekly repertoire. Keep a look-out for it!
  24. I love to make these too. But, I make them in the micro. on parchment paper. Spread a pile of shredded parmesan cheese into a pancake shape for 45 sec. to 1 min. Easy and fast!! I also second the partaking of red wine with these!
