  1. You may want to call Safeway to get an updated list. This list I have, which they mailed to me, is dated March '08. This list also has their Organics products as well.
  2. Has anyone been to Carrabas lately? I read that they have a gluten-free menu, but don't know anyone that has been there. Please let me know of your experience there. Thanks!
  3. I was in total shock when I found out. I really didn't know what celiac was. I think it was kind of a fluke that they even ran the panel. Anyway, after the shock wore off, I thought this won't be so bad. That was before I read up on it and found gluten was in so many things. Then I was really depressed. Now, after about 4 months, I'm doing OK. ...
  4. dkasart, I've been thinking of you and truly hope this storm misses you. I have many relatives in the NO area and most have evacuated. Please be careful.
  5. You're right about the grits. I called them, unfortunately after I bought them. Said could have cross contamination.
  6. So far I have liked just about everything there. I'm not sure if this is the same place, I live in AZ and didn't realize it was in other states. One thing I don't like is reheating the pizza. It was great at the restaurant. I brought leftovers home, froze it and reheated and I would'nt even eat it. I usually don't even get pizza when I go there,...
  7. Hi all. What brand of almond butter and sunbutter do you buy and where do you buy it. I love PB, but for some reason it doesn't love me right now. On the coconut oil and coconut flour - does it have a strong coconut taste? Do you prefer a specific brand? Can you use high heat with the coconut oil? I know some oils have a low flashpoint...
  8. Thanks MBJ2217. I had never had bloodwork for lipoprotein (a) but have since heard not to worry too much about it since my other numbers are pretty good. Thanks for the reassurance. I still need to go have some of the other stuff checked and hopefully I'll be good as new! You are so right about the exercising. I had been doing so well and then stopped...
  9. Shay, I do have some symptoms of hypothyroid and that was the main reason I wanted the blood tests. I had read several posts on thyroid and thought I should get checked. Right before being diagnosed, my TSH was over 3 (that has come down). I had never had T3 or T4 checked and really didn't know much about them. I'm mostly tired and have really dry skin...
  10. Thanks for posting. It looks easy to make and very yummy!
  11. Thanks for replying. It is so hard to find a doctor that really knows about Celiac. I got so frustrated waiting on that doctor, I had to walk out. They called me to apologize and of course, set up another appt. I did, but will probably end up cancelling. My CRP was high also right when I was diagnosed. I am so good about being gluten-free, actually...
  12. Please share your mac n cheese recipe. Thanks.
  13. Maybe someone out there can help me. I have been gluten-free for about 4 months, was diag in Feb with positive bloodwork and positive biopsy. Anyway, I just had some bloodtests done to test thyroid, etc. Well the test that came back scary are: CRP - 9.5 H (High cardiovascular risk) Homocysteine - 5.0 L (5.4-11.9 is normal...
  14. I've been gluten-free for about 2 months. I still get headaches, but not as often. I've had maybe 1 or 2 migraines since going gluten-free. Mine headaches alway start above one of my eyebrows and if it goes into a migraine, goes from my eyebrow down the side of my head to my ear. Always the same. They seem to be worse around my period or when barometric...
  15. I found this great yummy snack at Costco. I was so excited when I picked it up and it actually said Gluten-Free! The name of the manufacturer is Mareblu Naturals. It's also dairy free. Has any tried any of their other products? Their website listed quite a few products, but the only one I saw at Costco was the CranMango Cashew Crunch. Very...
  16. Crystal, I'm so happy you pushed for the additional tests! You listened to your body and finally got the doc to listen to you. Good for you. Now you know for sure that you were on the right course to begin with.
  17. OK, one more question on this. If I add chicken or ground turkey, does it need to be cooked before adding? Sorry to keep asking, but my cooking skills are minimal. I'm pretty good if I have an exact recipe, but when it comes to adding and substituting things, I'm generally lost. Thanks.
  18. Good news. It's gluten free! I sent an e-mail to the manufacturer Dr. Reddy's regarding my allergy info. I copied this from an e-mail so hope it comes out OK on here. Here is the response: March 4, 2008 Dear Ms. : Thank you for your request for information regarding Dr. Reddy
  19. OK, this might be a double post, not sure what I did after I typed my message. Anyway, thanks for experimenting with the brown rice. I think this will become a weekly dinner in our house. Also, we'll have leftovers since there's only 2 of us. I already have all of the ingredients in the cabinet. Please keep posting easy recipes. I'm starting...
  20. I was trying to bring yogurt through security at the Phoenix airport. They confiscated it saying it was a liquid.
  21. Hi Purple, The recipe sounds great! I would like to substitute brown rice for the white rice to get a little extra fiber. Do you know if I would need more liquid? Thanks.
  22. Shay, I'm so glad you mentioned the thyroid. Mine too is over 3, but previous dr told me it was normal. I'm going to a new Dr in a couple weeks that is open to the new range so I'm hoping she will give me something. what brand of thyroid meds are you taking? I've heard Armour is good. Thanks.
  23. Yum, I love cornbread! The recipe looks easy too.
  24. Jessica, I'm glad you got your results. You are so far ahead of the game than when I found out. At least you know pretty much what you need to do. Also, it is great that you found this forum early on. I didn't find it for a few months. It would have saved me a lot of trial and error. There is so much knowledge on this forum. Keep up the great...
  25. Ok, I know this is going to sound disgusting, but taking about 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and mix with water (I mix it with about a 1/2 cup apple juice because I gag with just water). The apple cider vinegar thins the mucous and really helps. I used to feel like a had something sitting in my throat and it was worse when I would lie down. That...
