  1. I checked yesterday and the lite version does contain barley malt, so be aware of that.
  2. This was my first gluten-free Thanksgiving, and it went amazingly well!!! We went to my dad's house for brunch. My stepmom is being great about my dietary needs, and she fixed dishes that contained no gluten. And we each made our own omelets. I brought some pumpkin bread made with Pamela's baking/pancake mix (all I have to say is YUM!!!). Then...
  3. Those candies are called Orange Slices, and they are made by Brach's (which is part of the Farley & Son's company). According to this website, they are gluten free: Open Original Shared Link
  4. If I were you, I wouldn't bother with an endoscopy. You have positive bloodwork. It is extremely rare for false-positives. (False-negatives, on the other hand, are far more likely.) You also have a positive response to a gluten-free diet. If I were you, I would consider myself diagnosed and remain gluten-free.
  5. babinksy, your dog on the right looks a lot like mine! My dog is a Shih-tzu/Maltese mix, same coloring. How about yours?
  6. Found some more information about the Weight Watchers Smart Ones from the Heinz website! All of these are gluten-free: Broccoli & Cheddar Potatoes Lemon Herb Chicken Piccata Fiesta Chicken Santa Fe Rice & Beans Creamy Tuscan Chicken Grilled Chicken in Garlic Herb Sauce Home-Style Chicken Chicken Santa Fe
  7. Thanks for your reviews! Can I add some? My favorite KIND bar is the one with yogurt and fruit. It is very sweet, and also contains coconut. I absolutely love it. Bumble Bar These bars are primarily sesame seeds, with some nuts too. I've had several flavors and liked them all. The chocolate took a little getting used to, because it's not as chocolatey...
  8. I almost always cook from scratch, but sometimes it's handy to have a ready-made meal or entree available. I've found a few but I'm sure others have many more. Can we get a list going? Kraft makes a couple of shelf-stable entrees under the Taco Bell name: Salsa Chicken Bowlz and Fiesta Steak Bowlz are the two that do not contain gluten. (Santa Fe *does...
  9. I didn't lose any weight. I've actually gained 5 lbs. that I didn't need.
  10. Our company party is coming up soon, too. I'm thinking I'll just skip it this year. Besides, last year it was so loud we had to shout our conversations.
  11. I made banana nut bread using Pamela's baking mix and the recipe on the bag (or the website). It's fabulous and sooo easy!
  12. Nice - thank you! I bookmarked it.
  13. I have a small electric food chopper/processor that holds less than two cups of ingredients. I've had it for years and I love it because there are only 3 pieces to wash: the blade, the lid, and the small container. They all go in the dishwasher. It doesn't grate or anything special, it just chops things up but does a great job. It's called a Black and...
  14. ^ Wow, that takes the term "mama's boy" to a whole new level.
  15. Okay, I'm dumb - what's a Bullet? Can you use a food processor or blender instead? That sounds yummy... I will definitely have to try it. Trader Joe's also has some fairly inexpensive gluten-free gingersnaps that I really like. The ones at the bottom of the bag are usually broken, anyway.
  16. I would feel very hurt if my significant other left me out of family get-togethers. It's one thing if YOU decided you don't want to go over there and opted to stay home. But to be blatantly not invited for a holiday gathering, that's just plain rude. Do you get along with his family in general? I know that I am finding myself avoiding some social situations...
  17. We went to PF Chang's last night for the first time since going gluten-free. My husband and daughter also ordered off the gluten-free menu, even though they don't have Celiac, so that we could share (awww!). We had: the lettuce wraps, the Dahli chicken (spicy), Chang's spicy chicken, lemon chicken, and a side of cucumbers. It was delicious and we have...
  18. When I went gluten-free, I did not have to avoid dairy at all. It doesn't bother me a bit, but it seems like it's a fairly common thing for people to have to give up, at least for a while. Your mileage may vary.
  19. Hi Jessga-- Like you, I did not have the "classic" weight loss associated with Celiac disease. I'm about 15 lbs. overweight. I've since learned that different people have different symptoms, and that's one reason why so many cases go undiagnosed. Like you, I was surprised by my diagnosis (and angry, and sad, and in denial). My advice is to read all you...
  20. Dinty Moore beef stew is also gluten-free. Many kids like it because the vegetables are potatoes and carrots. I think they have it in individual microwavable containers, but check to be sure.
  21. I got a fairly inexpensive 4-cup Cuisinart model at Bed, Bath and Beyond. It works great, and makes just enough rice for our family.
  22. I don't seem to react either. I've been very strictly gluten-free for 3 months and was accidentally glutened (for the first time, I think) last night at dinner at my sister's house. She is gluten intolerant, so she made an effort to serve gluten-free foods. For dessert we had some ice cream topped with sauce and nuts. Turns out the "nut topping" had wheat...
  23. I use Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean Tea Tree Oil face wash that I get at Trader Joe's. For moisturizing, I use Neutrogena Healthy Skin face lotion.
  24. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I will contact the caterer and see what information I can get from them. If there is nothing for me to eat, I'll bring some food of my own. And drink champagne.
