  1. When I went gluten free my diarrhea instantly stopped. At first all I did was eliminate bread and cereal. Over time I added gluten free products. Some say processed in a facility that also processes wheat. Those made me sick. Some don't say it on the bag, but you can find out by looking on line. As time went on I became more sensitive to gluten and found...
  2. I don't know if I am as sensitive as you, but I am pretty sensitive. I react to gluten free rice chex which very few people do. When I threw out the flour I did it at arms length with my face turned away and somehow breathed in enough to get sick for 2 weeks. Gluten free oats made me sick for 2 months, but I did eat a whole serving. I put my nose in...
  3. I had bad anger issues. Yelling at my poor husband and kids. Only I didn't recognize that I was being irrational. Now I see how irrational I was. I started realizing that after being gluten free 4 months or so. It was such a mood roller coaster for the first 8 months or so. It is really easy to get accidental gluten. Lots of gluten free items are processed...
  4. I haven't been to the eye doctor since I stopped eating gluten but I go next week. Blowing air also bothered me. I didn't notice if it stopped bothering me when my eyes improved upon eating gluten, but I haven't been noticing it bothering me recently. I also had high pressure and they were watching me for glaucoma. I'll find out next week if that is still...
  5. Like I said in the other post, do you know about stickers, playdoh and fingerpaint?
  6. I was obviously trolling the internet. There is also this one that is pretty scary. It is about the U.S. gluten industry finding more uses for wheat gluten. www.smallgrains.org/springwh/mar99/import.htm What they do for money!
  7. Does the class know about stickers, play-doh, finger paint as gluten sources?
  8. Shouldn't be. Very romantic. Lucky you. Could just be from the pap, unless it was bleeding before.
  9. Check this out. This might be why some people are having problems with strawberries: Open Original Shared Link
  10. e-mail me at gmail
  11. I beg to differ. Many items marked gluten free have made me sick. I have checked on this site and found that many of them have made others sick too. It took a lot of suffering on my part and my sons part before I started understanding about cross contamination. The person who first opened my eyes to gluten presence in some items that are marked as gluten...
  12. It has been established that different celiacs have different thresholds for the amount of gluten that will cause them to have a reaction. It likely that items that you can't tolerate are well tolerated by other celiacs. On the other hand, there have been posts here from people who still have flattened villi and positive blood test results after thinking...
  13. Gluten gives my son GERD. He went on an acid free diet as well as the gluten free one initially. Basically no fat, citrus, chocolate, soda, berries, or tomatoes. Also until healed it is common to be lactose intolerant an not able to handle dairy. Lactase is produced in the intestine, and when damaged not much is produced. My son was able to eat dairy...
  14. He is just talking about solubilizing it. It is soluble in alcohol.
  15. That explains a few things. I had a really bad episode right before I went gluten free. Wine plus this spinach pastry that had gluten as the first ingredient. It convinced me. Thanks for the washing info. Maybe I can make some sort of alcohol solution. I just ordered Bards from an out of town friend. Can't get it here. Thanks for that too. Also explains...
  16. I believe he is afraid of a lawsuit if he gives a positive test result.
  17. Hey, another Wegmans shopper! I just read this morning that straw can be used when growing mushrooms. Maybe that's why.
  18. I found out today that mushrooms can be grown on straw. Especially straw mushrooms. Have you found any positive tests for mushrooms? Again, does washing produce help? (Have you done any tests on this?)
  19. Has Redbridge ever made you sick?
  20. Thanks for that info. Is it enough to just wash the strawberries? Can you say more about shelf life extenders? Maybe in a different post.
  21. Thanks for the list Mike. I bet it was a lot of work to get it compiled. Unfortunately gluten free rice chex was enough to get to both my son and I, so that test isn't sensitive enough for us. A positive list could be helpful, though. HInt, hint.
  22. Wow! I am sorry that you have had to experience these negative things. My 11 year old son hasn't experienced anything like this (yet). Good for you to try to raise awareness to do something about it. Hope it gets better.
  23. Thanks Mike. I don't know if you intend to include a positive list. I can understand if you don't want to include company names. Maybe you could at least include categories that I would not otherwise suspect. For instance I had no previous knowledge about oranges and strawberries or wine as possibilities. It explains a lot. My son swore that his strawberry...
